    Not worth it!

Light in bathroom out; front desk closes early, so no maintenance. Hair in shower, mold on shower mat, cracked glass soap dish, linens (or bed?) smelled "used," need I say more?! I sent an email to Aston Hotels with no response after 2 weeks. There are many, many other hotels on the street that are comparable in price but better maintained.

Great location for a reasonable price

Located steps away from beach, this hotel is a reasonable place if you don’t care for much hotel amenities. Room was dusty and the bed was on the firm side. Nice size room for two to three people.

    Location and vacation comments

The grounds are beautifully landscaped and well maintained. Access to the beach is across the street and easily accessed and convenient for swimming and snorkeling. The room was tidy, neat, clean and kitchen amenities were basic and utilitarian. The carpet was a bit outdated and looked like it should be replaced. For a quiet get away from the more "touristy" areas, this was a good deal. There was easy walking distance to a few shops and eateries and made for an enjoyable stay central to many recreations on the island. The exterior room door(s) to each room along the halls appeared worn and could use a "facelift", paint, or replacement for a better initial first impression. If you are looking for poolside pina coladas and bartender/appetizers and fancy pool, this is not for you. However, if you are looking for something more basic and quiet and spend your day beyond the hotel, this is a good choice and I would go back for that same experience.

    The room was just outdated.

There were some hair on the bed sheet! I don’t think they washed the bed sheet. My husband and I just slept on top of bed sheet with some cloths on. I’ll never go back. The location is close to beach and malls. That’s about it.

    Work’s just fine

It was great to have a mini-kitchen on our vacation. The rooms were adequate, not fancy, not new, but worked well for us. The staff are friendly and helpful.

Travelers tip on getting the most out of your stay

The front desk was willing to hand out as many clean towels as we needed to keep going back and forth to the beach. They also let us use the shower/pool to clean off on our last day after we had checked out.

    Good value for the price

This was a good value for the price. Kitchen was very well stocked. Hotel itself was just across the beach with a street in between. However ocean view is over rated since it is built in such a way that almost no room has good ocean view. My only complaint was that they did not let us print our united boarding passes from their office. We had to go to an internet cafe and pay extra for this. Normally more and more hotels are providing free courtesy service for this purpose.

    more parking

the room was fine, only the parking lot was crowded. even when we had a parking pass, in the evening others would park there to go to the beach. otherwise it was lovely. right accross the road from the beach. It had a lot of steps and no elevator which might be a burden for some less active. we had teenagers, so no problem.

    Expectations met

My wife and I stayed here with our two children for about 18 hours; the pool was nice, and all the things we used in the room (showers, sinks, lav, dryer, coffee maker, fridge, A/C, dishwasher, silverware) were well maintained. The hotel is conveniently located close to a nice beach and places to eat and shop.

I think the weekend rate, one to two days should be less, it would draw local people to stay there. Since I have been in Hawaii I have not seen any motels, so place like this must step up to draw the weekend travelers.

    Travelers tip on shopping

"Topaz Goldsmith and Gallery" very good place for getting jewell made, a very good selections, with good prices. A staff that is friendly and will help you with what your are looking for. If they don’t have they can make it!

the hotel was nice and plenty of room for a group of 5 shops one block away I would stay at this hotel again.

    Good hotel

Maui Banyan was clean and comfortable.

    Nice Family Oriented Place

We stayed there for 5 nights recently, party of 6 in a 2 bedroom condo. The first night was in a lower level and we found ants in the unit. So we asked for upgrade and moved to a 4th floor partial ocean view unit. We have seniors and children and all age group enjoyed the rest of the stay. The front desk staff are very friendly. The walk to the beach across from the street is short and convenient.

    great value kihei

the rooms were clean and nice, tvs a/c, appliances, etc all worked great. the pools and spas were nice, the bbqs were great, right across from kamaole beach. we would definitely stay there again. it was wonderful!

    Travelers tip on dining

purchase excellent fish and dinner items at Costco and BBQ at the condo to save $$

sweet Hotel, but beware the birds

We went to a few days to Maui for a pretty active vacation - Haleakala, Hana, Lahaina, Molokini, Iao Valley - to name a few. WE were pretty happy with the hotel - we got a partial ocean view room in the building furthest away from beach - however still in really easy walking distance (for example to watch the sunset). The room had a fully equipped kitchen (better than my appartment...) and even a washer and dryer! Along with a stereo, TV and DVD-player - we even found some DVD’s and books but did not really take the time for watching TV - with an island with some much to offer, that would be a waste (at least in my opinion). The hotel was really nice - nice pools and hot-tub, with BBQ grills etc. Really nice and well maintained grounds. The only thing that we did not like, was that every day, we got woken up by big flocks of birds that started getting noisy at 5AM. (Only time that did not happen, was when we got up at 2AM to get up to Haleakala). Not really a lot the hotel can do about it - except maybe better, more sound-proof windows. But besides this, we really enjoyed our stay and we would go there again.

Travelers tip on getting the most out of your stay

Get up early and enjoy every day as good as you can. With the sunset already at 7PM, you have to start quite early to get the most out of a day - especially on long days, like if you do the Road to Hana.

    Wonderful Location

I stayed at the 1 bedroom partial ocean view. The "ocean view" even "partial" was laughable, it was WAY in the distance, I had a view of an abandoned gulley, that was overgrown with some trash. However, that is my ONLY "complaint" about the hotel. The room was perfect. Full kitchen and kitchen appliances. Washer and dryer WITH detergent in the room. 2 bathrooms and a balcony with 2 doors, one in the living room and one in the bedroom. Location was pretty amazing, right on a very happening strip with beaches literally across the street. Still too far to walk carrying all my diving/snorkeling equipment, but less than a 2 minute "drive" to a near parking place. Very small operation. The help was friendly, but my floor was very quiet and only 1 day (of a week) did I even see anyone else on my floor. I do not require a lot, so I did not really use the "concierge". I would certainly stay there again.

    Love it!

We arrived later in the evening 9pm. The office was still open and was ready to put us in our room. The grounds were well maintained and the condo itself was comfortable. The location is great (across from the beach and walking distance to local restaraunts and shops). Although I would’ve to have more beach gear provided there are plenty of rental shops close by.

Costco and Walmart are close to the airport (OGG), definitely make a stop there to stock up for your stay. Allows you to enjoy a meal at home and spend a bit more on the local cuisine while you’re playing in the sun.

    I would stay there again

At first I thought it looked sort of run down. This was actually my second time staying here and our first room was very nice. But once I got settled in, I realized it met all my needs, the grounds were nice, and the service was excellent. The only draw back my husband and I found was the parking. There needs to be assigned parking when you check in. Other than that, I would definitely go back.

    Travelers tip on recreational activities

Definitely go snorkeling with the Pacific Whale Foundation. They are knowledgable, friendly, efficient, and very eco-green . This was one of our most memorable times in Hawaii. I will cherish it always.

    Can’t wait to go back

This was my third visit to the Maui Banyon. I think it is a great hotel. Central to pretty much anything you want to do. Close to most things. Great beach, walking to shopping. I will stay there again, and I will recommend this hotel to anyone going to Maui.

    Very impressed

We were very happy with our room. It was kept clean and in good order. The staff was friendly and helpful. There were barbeques by the pool for people to use for cooking. They were immaculate as was the entire pool area. The grounds were always in good condition. It was a wonderful visit.

    Travelers tip on local attractions

The hotel is directly across from the Kamaole Beach area. We enjoyed checking out the tide pools and watching the colorful fish from the lava formation.

    Beautiful Place

The condo was a very nice place to stay. The kitchaen was well supplied. Rooms were pleasant and comfortable. Maid service was beyond the what was expected. The only complaint was the sofa-bed. As with most pull-outs it was not comfortable. We had to put the mattress on the floor.

Next time we will each carry a personal carry-on instead of suitcases.

    maui banyan

    beautiful grounds, very comfortable room.

when i got there i was very surprised that this hotel existed....it was like going into whole different place. the grounds are absolutely gorgeous, very well maintained & groomed. the staff is very friendly & helpful. the room was very comfortable with a full kitchen, & everything that you needed. i will definitely recommend this hotel and i will be back.

    Good value

Hotel was in a great location in Kihei. There was a beach across the street and a beautiful beach within 5 miles driving. The hotel was older but fairly well maintained. The beds were OK but old. The room was clean and comfortable. We would stay there again. It was a good value for the price.

Wish we knew we could get a 1 BR with kitchen instead of a hotel style room

A cheap place to stay on Maui. Hotel is fine - a place to hang your wet suit while exploring the fabulous island. Nearer to the Haleakai crater and the road to Hana than Lahaina, so a good chose for us. We later stayed in Kaalipalu for much more money. Stayed close to the resort and didn’t venture out much, so we were glad to have stayed on the southern part of the island.

    Travelers tip on local attractions

Go to the Road to Hana and the crater from here - its closer and less populated than than the more well known Lahaina area.

    Great Condo

We stayed in building "H" on the 4th floor. When we walked in the condo it felt like home. Clean and the kitchen had almost everything we needed to prepare a nice meal. The furniture was nice and so were the bathrooms. The landscape was beautiful and the front desk ladies were very helpful. We would stay there again anytime.

    Travelers tip on local attractions

Most of the local attractions were north from Kehi, but the drive is very beautiful.
