Reviews

. i definitely recommend this place to stay. the only draw back was when the pool area was rented out for parties in the evening but they ended early enough.Loved this hotel i have stayed in many hotels and i loved this one i was thrilled with the style and relaxing atmosphere.

Travelers tip on shopping Short walk from Wilshire and Rodeo. Room was delightfully comfortable and wer able to upgrade me to a room with a bathtub for a nominal charge.Would stay there again in a heartbeat The staff was warm and very helpful since I was travelling alone.

. You can have a really really nice meal here for about $20-30 a person, but leave very full & food is really good & worth a tad of a wait. Try the eggrolls as an appetizer, they are totally different & very fresh. It’s pretty new to the area, maybe a year old. Very good food, pricing is average & great cocktails by the bartender, Mike. We have family in the Beverly Hills area & will be coming back to this hotel in the late Spring Travelers tip on dining Great restaurant just a couple miles away is LA Food Show. But the hotel has been updaded & we loved the decor. we had ice! The hotel is older as most all of the homes in Beverly Hills were built in the 40’s & 50’s. Didn’t find the ice machines, but we called the front desk & within 2 or 3 mins. Room was very very quiet & we enjoyed the platform beds which were very comfortable.Great Little Hidden Treasure Customer service at the hotel was outstanding! Rooms were very clean & hotel cleaning even came later early evening to make sure we had enough towels or if we had showered during the day, they replaced our towels & tided up! We asked for a quiet room & they upgraded us for a very small small amount & we stayed right across the street as they own that building too.

. Plan ahead. Travelers tip on saving a few bucks Remember that valet is $35 for each time you park your car. ALL staff were professional, courteous and helpful! The room service is very expensive, but on time!! Overall, I look forward to staying here again. Great bathroom amenities. Large beautiful windows! Clean chic room. It’s close to popular areas without the stress of traffic.Pleasantly surprised! This hotel is hidden away and therefore has its advantages.

. Travelers tip on shopping Walking distance to shopping area. However, the buildings are quite old. Good service.Very convinience Very close to the shopping area.

the great thing about this hotel is that it’s in a quiet residential neighborhood but central to everything - if you’re planning to go to multiple locations in LA but don’t want to stay in some anonymous chain, this is a great deal. also, the hotel should have the smoking rooms at the FAR end of the hotel, so that smoking guests do not sit outside their non smoking rooms on the walkway overlooking the pool Travelers tip on getting the most out of your stay there is a small strip of restaurants right around the corner, excellent to walk to for dinner if you don’t want to pull the car from valet after a long day fighting LA traffic. more greenery and lushness all around would go a long way towards individualizing the hotel, and giving it a less serviceable feel.) the only flaw in this hotel is that when redecorating to make it modernized 50’s modern (it’s authentic to CA architecture of the time and has been nicely redone) they’ve kept it a bit pared down, compared to modern standards for a luxe hotel - it could seriously use some indoor/outdoor runner carpets on the exterior walkways to dampen the sound, some sort of greenery (such as railing planters) on these walkways overlooking the pool, and a bit more lushness overall by the pool etc - essentially, the entire building is cinderblock and hard surfaces, and the decorator would do well to distract from the functional feel a bit more completely by covering those blocks. the staff was EXTREMELY pleasant, really above and beyond anything you’d find in a chain hotel, the rooms were clean, decorated in a pleasing modern style and had very modern amenities (flat screen TV, etc.Excellent value went with a companion on a special weekend rate - for the price and LOCATION (VERY central yet on a quiet street, near a strip of serviceable restaurants and delis) this is an excellent value.

. All together, a good place to stay for the price. Also, our room was right by the kitchen so there was some noise. 2 downsides - It costs $30 a night for parking not included in the expedia price, and there is nowhere else to park.Nice Hotel - Beware of parking Enjoyed hotel, great atmosphere, friendly staff.

... Travelers tip on local attractions Near everything. Loved the "retro" decor. Rooms were large and very clean.Very Nice Very nice hotel convenient to Beverly Hills, Hollywood, and the beaches.

. Easy walking distance to food and shops on Beverly Drive. The Avalon has retro character and is tucked more in a neighborhood than most hotels.Fun boutique hotel experience Loved the iHome docking station and little touches like that.

Nice property!!. Small size so very intimate.Would go back in a heart beat! Great Location.

. The rooms were extremely old with dirt in all the corners, carpet that didn’t fit creating humps, disgusting bathrooms too small to accommodate two people, and a feeling you would not want to put your toothbrush anywhere except back in your luggage. The kids had to cross an outdoor alley that reminded me of dirty and unsafe gettos with dumpsters and cars lining the alley. Check-in was courteous although we did not get rooms near the kids’ rooms. The staff was polite upon our arrival. We both felt we pulled into a tennament housing shack. My wife and I both thought we had the wrong building when we arrived. The location of the hotel was acceptable.Unexpectedly dissapointed The review online gave this a high star rating.

.’s) and cheaper than renting a car or taking taxi’s everywhere, ck the web there is a ph # to call to speak with someone to plan a trip. is very convenient in LA area (buses run about every 15 min. Public trans. there was no microwave in my room had ceral for breakfast, sandwichs and fruit for lunch sometimes. Travelers tip on saving a few bucks There is a grocery store only a couple of blocks from this hotel food & drinks can be bought from there and stored in hotel ref. Don’t let all of my talk about saving money mislead you either, I’m just a very frugal person by nature. Don’t let the ph problem keep you from staying at this hotel remember I didn’t bring it to their attention. There is a grocery store only a couple of blks away from the hotel. You can save some money on eating ask for a rm w/a sm refrig. Over all a very nice stay, helpful staff clean and comfortable rm’s.5 miles away). You can get almost anywhere in the LA area by bus, I even went to Santa Monica Pier on the bus (only about 8.25 per ride & each transfer.’s $1. bus stop right outside of the hotel and buses run about every 15 min. There is a public trans. I feel pretty sure that if I had brought it to the staff’s attention it would have been taken care of. I never brought this to the staff attention for the simple reason it was easier to use my cell. I used my cell ph for most calls, because of the problems with the ph’s. Also, the ph sevice was bad most of the calls I tried to make would not go thru or for some odd reason went to the wrong number.00 for each local ph call. My only beef with the hotel was that they charged $1. bus route online and printing it out for me. Hotel was nice & the staff was very helpful, even to the point of getting a public trans.Impressed but, with a word of caution I would stay at this hotel again.

. Best perhaps for the young ’n hip rather than serious business travelers. Unfortunately, we were not informed in advance of the ongoing renovations, or of the fact that basic rooms are exposed to sound from both Olympic Avenue and the nightly poolside dj.Good boutique hotel in great location The staff was very helpful and courteous at all times.

48 hour tickets were only $40!!!. Then, use the SKYLINE hop-on hop-off bus tour for everything else in LA - Downtown, Hollywood, and Santa Monica. Travelers tip on saving a few bucks do NOT use cabs or rent a car! Everything you want in Beverly Hills is walkable.Best Service - PERIOD! Ari and the rest of the staff was FANTASTIC! They went out of their way to get whatever we needed! Pretty cool contemporary decor and a magnificent ambiance by the poolside each evening.

. If you like Mid Century Modern you will like the Avelon Hotel. Would go back again to see what changes have been made. Was conveniently located within easy walking distance to great restaurants and shops. The hotel is undergoing renovation and the furnishings in the dining room and lobby are noticably dirty and very worn. Had breakfast twice in the dining room and the food was very good with excellent service.Excellent service Every employee was most courteous and attentive and we were quite impressed.

. I would recommend this hotel for its location and price. They answered all of our questions and were extremely nice. The staff could not have been more accommodating.Great Location at a reasonable price I was very pleased with our stay at the Avalon.

. i walked every where from the hotel to rodeo drive, paul smith, farfax ave has amazing vintage shops. i took cabs the first coupple of days it drain my wallet. Travelers tip on shopping cabs are very very expensive. Everything is waling distance, i walked every where. They made me and my friend feel extremlly happy. Staff was very very helpful.GREAT HOTEL i enjoyed staying in the avalon hotel.

Would definately return!!!.The staff was spot on! We had a wonderful time! The staff were just great! They make it a point to know us by name and make sure that our stay was better than being at home.

. I liked the open decor but the rooms are a little outdated in its amenities.Average experience If you like cabana style living this is your place.

Highly recommend.Excellent Experience!! The hotel is very nice and quiet! Friendly staff! Great overall experience.

Good location, helpful staff.....Great Hotel Everything was perfect, specially foods and drinks by the pool in the evening .

....Excellent location excellent location.

. Travelers tip on dining There is a Chinese restaurant near out hotel is really really good! But the price is not high at all!!! The food and the drinks in the restaurant of the hotel are really really good! The price is acceptable. At the beginning, they said they could give us a free rid to the airport at the day we left but they did not do what they promised. But it has only one that did not let me feel good. I like everything about the hotel.Enjoyable The hotel is very nice.

. Travelers tip on dining Very good resturants within walking distance. Staff was very helpful and friendly.Very friendly.

. Great rooms. Very convivial.Great hotel! Great staff.
