Reviews

. My overall remark is that I would highly recommend the Belden Stratford and if rates remain competitive I wouldn’t even consider looking elsewhere for a place to stay in Chicago. But important to mention is that - at no time was anyone unprofessional. We were never told there was a full kitchen with our room - thinking the door to the kitchen(which was closed when we arrived) was a door to the room next door - on day 3 the cleaners left it open! Other small things were that staff generally didn’t seem terribly informed on restaurants or public transportation options in and around the hotel. My only complaint was that staff were really not very informative or informed on a few key items. They also provide a very satisfying continental breakfast every morning. It met all of our requirments in terms of cleanliness & comfort providing us with a convenient base from which to see the city. It is in an excellent location for downtown and northside with all the necessary public transportation on the doorstep.Look no further for a great place to stay in Chicago We stayed at the Belden Stratord for four nites in September 2009.

. The only problem you need to take a cab or bus to visit the center of Chicago. Travelers tip on local attractions Lincoln Zoo accross the street, very good resturant in building, beautiful neighborhood and a perfect location.Chicago Best Hotel I was pleasantly surprise, it was just like staying in a 2 bedroom apartment, so very comfortable, we only stayed 1 night but wish I had booked for all 5 days in Chicago.

. Great place to walk, run or bike. Travelers tip on recreational activities The lake front is just a couple of blocks away. Would stay there again. Large room with a nice kitchen and bath. A bit of a walk to the subway but the bus to downtown is a half block away.Great Location This is a lovely place in a great location.

. Overall a great experience, the price was very competitive and the service was stellar. There is a beautiful park directly in front and the Lincoln Park Zoo is just beyond that. The room was very nice and the view was amazing from our room and atop the sundeck on the roof of the building. Even the valet were very helpful and helped us save money by recommending a place near by we could park for free. We were upgraded to a suite and the complimentary continental breakfast was very good. Hotel staff was very courteous.Very, very nice.

. Travelers tip on local attractions The nearby lakeshore is a great place for a run. The suite at the Belden Stratford was very comfortable and the service was very good.Great Place to Stay Near Lincoln Park My daugther and I were in town for college visits.

The mattresses in our suite were probably past their useful life!. Spacious accomodations and convenient to Lincoln Park and DePaul University.Great Lincoln Park location Overall, our stay was wonderful.

Great place to stay Great location for Wrigley Field, Lincoln Park Zoo, very nice area overall-desk staff very helpful and friendly, bellmen not so much, but will definitely go back!.

. We had a mini kitchen and room with 2 double beds and great view. When we arrived they said we didn’t have a suite. Only complaint is that they had said we had a suite with king sized bed when we called the night before arrival . Great location; room nice ; staff good.Great hotel We were very happy with the hotel.

. Internet conncetion not the greatest though.Great location! Wonderful stay.

. The hotel is situated in a beautiful north side neighborhood, with Clark Street a couple blocks away, the arboritum right across the street, as well as Lincoln Park Zoo a short walk away.5 baths.laundry, full kitchen, dining area, living room, 1..BEAUTIFUL HOTEL AND AREA! My brother had recommended we stay at the Belden - the rooms were huge with all the amenities of an apartment.

. Travelers tip on local attractions location, location, location, very accessible to many attractions including the downtown area, just a bus ride away. Looking forward to a return visit. The staff was professional and friendly.Extremely pleased We were pleasantly surprised by the room accomodations.

. The 151 bus stops across the street and will take you straight downtown. The spots are popular, but if you are persistent you can get a great spot for no cost and save the $30+ daily fee to use the hotel’s valet service. Travelers tip on saving a few bucks You can park on the street by the Lincoln Park Conservatory/Zoo for free. The sundeck offers a nice view. Our room was very spacious and had a FULL kitchen.Great deal! Good location, wonderful room, great price! Right across the street from Lincoln Park Zoo and not far from downtown.

. On Monday we walked the outter sidewalk by the zoo and there were tons of kids form camps and daycares going into the zoo. We went to the zoo on Sunday to avoid all the school and camp groups. Paid around 12 dollars for the ride. We took the train and grabbed a cab from Union Station. I know you have to pay extra for parking. We did not have a car. Great place to sit and people watch! Weather was superb for Chicago! I would definitely go back again. The next day we walked to North Beach and went to the Castaways upperdeck for lunch. We walked to Clark street shops and bars and had dinner out. We only stayed for the one night, so we did not use the kitchen. The full kitchen is nice if you are planning an extended stay and want to eat in. It’s a huge suite. Having two bathrooms was great. The room was wonderful. At night you can see the Ferris Wheel lit up from Navy Pier. We ended up getting an end room that overlooked the zoo and the lake. They took our luggage right away and we walked right across the street to the Lincoln Park Zoo. Everyone was very helpful and nice. We arrived early and asked to have our luggage held for us. I stayed with a friend at the Belden Strafford.Nice view form room.

. With the hotel being so close to the park, it is very hard to find a parking spot close to the hotel. It will cost you to use the valet parking. WE want to go stay there again soon! Travelers tip The only problem to some people may be the parking. Theaters and places to eat, drink , and be merry were within walking distance. The staff were very cordial and helpful. It was directly across from the zoo in Linclon Park, and we had a wonderful view of Lake Michigan from our window! Very comfortable beds, and very clean rooms.Extremely Clean, Comfortable, Beautiful Hotel My daughter and I really enjoyed our stay at the Belden-Stratford Hotel in Chicago.

. Excellent food and even more excellent service. Travelers tip on dining Mon Ami Gabi--one of the restaurants in the hotel is a destination even if you don’t stay for the night. I always choose the Belden Stratford whenever possible and look forward to my stays there. Located across the street from the Lincoln Park Zoo, it offers many opportunities to walk in the neighborhood as well as good proximity to public transportation downtown. My favorite hotel in Chicago The Belden Stratford is an old fashioned hotel in many ways: excellent service, comfortable rooms, real door keys.

. Right at Lawrence and Broadway is The Green Mill, a great Jazz club with history dating back to the prohibition era. Travelers tip on nightlife Jump on the El, and head North to the Lawrence stop. I would stay there again without hesitation. The staff was very friendly and accomodatiing. Having a kitchen is a big bonus as well. Nice old building with good views of Lincoln Park and the lake, and very comfortable rooms.Good Spot Great location, walking distance from tons of food, shopping, and entertainment, and not far from the Fullerton El stop, which connects you to the rest of the city.

Travelers tip on saving a few bucks It’s worth it to drive around the block a few times until a spot opens up for free parking!!. I didn’t bite and finally got the room I had reserved and paid for months in advance. They gave us a suite with a King instead of 2 Queens and then tried to convince me that the pull-out couch "counted". Check in was a mess. The couch in the living area was horrible uncomfortable. The bathroom was tiny. The carpet was VERY dirty. Truthfully we just needed a place to sleep and the hotel served its purpose, but the rooms were not what I expected. The location was prime for us and we luckily found free parking on the street right outside the hotel.Easy access to Lincoln Park and Zoo It’s been renovated all right - and it looks like it was done as quickly as possible.

. It was a good place to spend a special time. This hotel is wonderful, it has all the charm of an old building, but is upgraded and very well maintained. The room was immense, with a lovely view of the park. When we arrived a little early for check in, not only did they make a room available to us, but they upgraded us to a suite.Nice place to stay in Lincoln Park My husband and I spent two nights here to celebrate our anniversary.

It was a fantastic experience!. If you want to have the comfort of an entire apartment as opposed to a one room hotel room then this is the place for you. I would HIGHLY recommend staying here. We had issues with our air conditioning but it did not change my opinion of the hotel. The hotel staff were wonderful and responded to all requests promptly. It was a much more pleasant stay than a regular hotel. Will be back I was very pleased with the Belden Stratford.

. Overall an excellent experience and would recommend to all. The staff was helpful and friendly. The rooftop patio was awesome.Wow! What a View! We had a room on the 7th floor facing the lake and the view was excellent.

. The rooms were very spacious with great views! I could see into the zoo from my room! I can’t wait to go back to Chicago just to stay at this hotel! Travelers tip on local attractions We walked around for hours and found many cool shops and bars/restaurants.Can’t wait to go back! This hotel was amazing! The staff were all very nice and helpful.

Get the full experience of Chicago, stay here!!. Travelers tip on recreational activities The zoo and botanical gardens are right across from the Beldon Stratford and probably a 5 min drive or 30 min walk across the beach is the pier with fun activities for children and adults. I would highly recommend it was quite an experience staying there. The hotel was actually less expensive than dives you come across traveling and the place was the definition of luxury. We spent the whole next day at the zoo. The hotel overlooks the park and Lake Michigan. The hotel manager also upgraded us to the presidential suite which was incredible. The hotel was very accommodating about storing our big penske truck while we stayed for two days.VERY impressed My boyfriend and I came to the hotel as a side trip on a cross country move.

Travelers tip on recreational activities Close to running trails and zoo. Will stay here again. Easy access to downtown, Wrigley Field by public transportation. This location was great! Close to the lake and great running trails.Great location We went to Chicago to see some Cubs games.

. Will definitely stay here again. Took walk in Lincoln Park and walked through the Lincoln Park zoo the next day - which was FREE and all the animals were out. Perfect location for cubs game - still have to take a cab to game, but it was a beautiful location.Great hotel for going to cubs game Awesome hotel and great price.

Absolutely love it!. We used public transportation to get around, which was very convenient. I just can’t say enough.... Location, decor, staff. We can’t wait to go back.In a word--Wonderful! Everything about this hotel was absolutely great.
