. Right next door is a kind of hole-in-the-wall eatery, Mermaids, that serves some amazing wraps and sandwiches. They have some awesome food there too.

Take the highway a short distance north to Kapaa and have a Caramel Mac at Java Kai, a wonderful local coffee place. I love it. Staff are very friendly. The rooms are great, the grounds are beautiful, its great to have that beautiful open area in between the rooms and the beach, to go running or walking through. Its awesome.Peaceful Place to Stay
Ive been going to Plantation Hale since I was a kid.
. Very centrally located.Great stay
We had a great time here.
. It is a good location on the island.Great room for the price
Not the newest hotel, but it was clean, well-stocked, and friendly staff.
. We enjoyed our stay at Best western Plantaion Hale Condo. The activity desk director was very helpful. We had courteous service. We enjoyed the location
The room was clean and spacious.
. You can google it and read more. It also has a breakwater area with small waves and you can see fish in knee deep water. It is a rocked in part of the beach so there are no waves.
Lydgate State Park has a great area for kids. If you can spend a little more for a better hotel you might want to, but that area is great so find one close. Shower doors hard to slide, as well as kitchen drawers. The hotel is pretty outdated- think buying an old house. Close to grocery store and mcdonalds. Great ice cream place there too. The coconut marketplace next door has some little shops and places to eat (and bar). Cant swim at the beach near the hotel but it is still pretty to lay out on and get your feet wet.Great Location
So close to Lydgate state park- which has calm beach, the reason we picked this hotel.
Better!!...Maui... Oahu. One excellent meal at Seagrass Grill. The food at most places was not good. It truely is a beautiful place (LOTS of rain)but I will never go back. That was overpriced too, by the way. The locals were unfriendly, even our kayak trip guide went on and on about how us visitors were ruining their island. The traffic! A 10 mile drive can take an hour. Everything was so expensive we didnt get to do half of what we had planned.

I would say skip Kauai and go to Oahu or Maui. The staff was wonderful. The extremely busy highway is very close so youll here that traffic 24/7. I would stay there again if it were on a DIFFERENT island. Shower door kept falling off its track, rusty airconditioner, but was roomy and comfortable for my family.Good for the price
This hotel was a little run down.
. Good thing we only came back to crash. NO WAY did we. A sign even asked us to take off our shoes when we entered our room. Your feet turned black from walking on the floor. It was hard to relax when everythingwas grimy and sticky. This place was just soo dirtly.Get off The Floor
I feel that I was saying Get off the floor a lot to my children 2 and 5 who like to play onthe floor.
Try the macadamia nut pancakes! Also close was a shopping center with 2 great restaurants, Pho Vy, vietnamese cuisine amd Pacific Island Bistro, with a variety of asian dishes were both great!. Kountry Kitchen has delicious breakfast at a good price. Would stay there again!
Travelers tip on dining
Close to downtown Kapaa. Staff was courteous and the room was clean. The balcony had a view of the ocean, which was a about a block walk from the hotel. Our room had a king bed and was very comfortable.Great location and wonderful room
Each room is a condo suite with a kitchen, living room and separate bedroom.
. I would stay here again. It is in a good location, except the road noise gets a little bad at certain times of the day. It was clean, but nothing fancy.Average place
Was a good place to stay.
. 4 STARS

CENTRALLY LOCATED FOR EASY ACCESS TO ALL LOCAL ATTRACTIONS & ACTIVITIES. WE PLAN ON RETURNING FOR 2 WEEKS & WILL STAY AT THE PLANTATION HALE. BEAUTIFUL POOL & SPA AREA. LOVE THE COCONUT MARKET PLACE & THE BEACH BEING CLOSE. THE HOTEL IS CENTRALLY LOCATED ON THE ISLAND SO WE COULD GO NORTH OR SOUTH & SPEND THE DAY.ALREADY PLANNING OUR NEXT TRIP!!!
MY SISTER & I LOVED THE PLANTATION HALE, THE STAFF WAS VERY FRIENDLY & HELPFUL.
. Who wants to cook on vacation but, when the Burger King meal you normally get at home for 5 bucks is 13, you can see the writing on the wall.
Travelers tip on saving a few bucks
There are three supermarkets nearby and the kitchen is pretty well equipped to save a few bucks on dining out. Not only is the stuff provided not very good, they were tight on giving any extras. Oh and, bring your own coffee. Even though cleanliness was an issue, Id stay again but bring some cleaning supplies to make our family more comfortable. Within walking distance to Old Town Kapaa. Staff were very nice.Convenient location, good overall value
Good value for the money, especially if your not planning to be there 24/7, but was not satisfied with the cleanliness of tile floors or bathroom area.
. Its an easy drive for a series of day-trips on Kauai.
Travelers tip
Centrally located. If we return to Kapaa, well most likely stay there again. It was comfortable and met all our needs.Liked it
The suite became our home-away-from-home during our 7 night stay.
. Its centrally located and pretty decent. I think I would stay there again. Our room kind of smelled like a farm or eggs at first, but maybe thats because of all the roosters! You couldnt hear the roosters from the room with the AC going, so that was nice.Good hotel
Decent hotel.
. Kapaa is a quieter location than Princeville or Poipu, and is centrally located for many activities. The produce man in Foodland was very helpful in aiding us in selecting pineapples and papayas. Foodland has very good baked foods and a nice sushi selection. We bought foods for breakfasts, some lunch makings and snacks.

There is a Foodland market and a Safeway nearby. It is not a "luxury" hotel, but overall very comfortable and pleasant. We would definetly stay here again. An additional advantage is proximity to the Coconut Marketplace which has many shops and casual restaurants. This was a nice size for two people, but any additional persons would have to sleep on the sofa bed. Our 2nd floor 1 bedroom suite faced the ocean (a short walk away), and offered comfortable beds, very spacious sitting/dining room and well equipped kitchen amd also a lovely balcony/lanai with chairs and smalll table (which we found perfect for breakfast or afternoon cocktail time). There are plenty of palm trees and other trees all around the grounds.Clean and comfy home in Paradise! (Kuaui)
We were very pleased with the location and facilities.
. Good location.Just another Best Western Motel
Comfortable room, good prices, High-speed connection for laptop - free! Otherwise, just another basic hotel.
. THis mall and tha other mall Kukui Grove looked like they were out of business. Most of the shops were closed.
Travelers tip on shopping
The Coconut market, whata joke. Bad service. We even gave the housekeeper out dirty towels because they did not come to pick them up.Do not stay here
For the 5 days we stayed here we had to cotinue to ask for our room to be cleaned and we also had to ask for towels.
Missing Hawaii already
great family value.
Travelers tip on local attractions
Must eat at Hamuras Saimin!. Another minor inconvience. I had to be at work at 7:30am and did not realize that the front desk opens at 7am. Other than that, everything was fine. This was very irritating when I was trying to read. The only problem I had was the night light next to the bed was blinking off and on.Nice and Clean Condo
The room was nice and clean.

Travelers tip on getting the most out of your stay
We highly recommend this resort. Keep in mind this is no 5-star hotel but it is very comfy and well worth the money. There is a huge, outdoor mall within walking distance and a number supermarkets, restaurants and other businesses across the street. The beach is a 3-minute walk away. There are 3 pools and Jacuzzis near the buildings. Theres a TV in the bedroom and a larger TV in the living room. Its like living in a large apartment instead of a cramped-up, overpriced hotel room. The living room has a dining table, chairs, and two sofas. The rooms ar clean and maintained reasonably well. The kitchen is well equipped with a normal size, large fridge, all appliances including a stove, blender, coffeemaker, dishes, silverware, etc.Excllent condos i Kauai at reasonable prices
This was the second time we stayed at Best Western Plantation Hale on the Kauai Island and we loved it.
. There was someone at the hotel that could do it for you, possibly cheaper.
Travelers tip on recreational activities
We had made much of our activities arrangements by ourselves before we had gotten there. The hotel was centrally located on the island, and a short drive to/from the airport, which was very convenient. Overall, not bad. The room service was a little less than desirable; they did the basics, made the bed and changed out the towels. The hotel was in decent shape, and the room had plenty of space for two people. Not a bad hotel
We had chosen a cheaper hotel because we hadnt planned on spending much time in it, and it let us spend more money on the actual vacation and activities.
... We were stuck there for 3 hours one morning. Kitchens are quite well stocked for cooking!
Travelers tip on saving a few bucks
Although the time share presentation approach to getting 2-for-1 activities helped with saving money, dont believe the 90 minute information. Surprisingly, they did not have "No Smoking" signs at the pool and there were thoughtless folks who did smoke there. We had to close our windows and doors often to avoid the smoke. Each of the suites is individually owned so there is a mix of smoking and non-smoking units, not completely one or the other. The only problem was with cigarette smoke. The staff is wonderful and the concierge on site was a big bonus.
Not a luxury resort, but it fit our needs perfectly.Great for the money & centrally located.

Blue Dolphin Sunset Dinner Cruise is breathtaking, great food, and attentive crew! Sunday Brunch at Gaylords is Phenomenal! Gaylords luau stage is impressive, we are definitely going there next year! Tihatis Hiva Pasefika luau is still under a tent; repair that old burned building, atmosphere is everything folks! Avoid time share presentations for freebies! The catch is you cannot book an activity until 5 hours after the presentation begins, youve wasted a precious day in paradise!. TURN OFF ELECTRICITY, including A/C units when you arent in your room. Please help the hotels, shops, restaurants, and other business of Kauai keep their prices down. If you leave it in the room, it will be thrown away! NOTE: one residents electric bill last year was $120, this year, over $400 for the same month, using less electricity. Go on a Wednesday & watch the free luau, beautiful! Before we leave, we always pass on our cooler, unused/unopened water, etc to someone who has just arrived to the island. Absolutely beautiful! Walk across the street to Kauai Coast Resort for craft classes, inexpensive and fun for young and old! Also, use that pool, it has more of a tropical island feel, bar, and next to the beach! Kauai Back Country Adventures for Tubing fun! We still love Pizzetta! It is a great bargain, lots of yummy food at a great price! Try the grilled Ono Caesar Salad! We also like the Fish Hut at Coconut Market Place; our friends loved Harleys there. We like to grab our coffee and walk across the street to the beach and watch the sunrise. The pools and grounds are well maintained, and there is plenty of security constantly walking the premises. The staff treats you like family, and is very attentive.Love the Plantation Hale!
Plantation Hale is a wonderful place to stay.
. The location in Kapaa near the Coconut Grove shopping center was also convenient. which helped us save money by eating in a couple of nights of our stay. The kitchen was fully stocked with utensils, dishes, etc.Very comfortable stay for a good price
If youre looking for a posh resort, this is not the place for you, however the rooms were clean and very comfortable.
Great hotel
a very good hotel The hotel is very confortable very clean and is located in very confortable position if you want go around the isle.
. But overall you really cant expect from the accomodations for the price because you get your own kitchen and living room. I appreciate that they dont want us to have cockroaches, but cant they arrange to have people do this before we check in? I did think the staff was great, especially Elsie. Also, another morning an exterminator came in to spray for cockroaches. I wish they had taken care of this issue before they had us check in. We found out the next day that they ended up having to take the a/c unit out b/c they were already having issues w/ it. We finally asked to switch rooms, but they only had 2 doubles left, so we just took that. We checked our room, it was still hot and the a/c still didnt work. We went to dinner and checked in and they said someone was supposed to come by, but not sure if anyone did. We let the front desk know and he said someone would come out. The first day we checked in, our a/c didnt work. I will say that the price was extremely reasonable, but you get what you pay for.A little disappointed
From reading previous reviews I had expected much more from the hotel.
