Travelers tip on recreational activities Kauai Backcountry Adventures - tubing down the irrigation ditch - great fun! Next time will try the Zip Line!. Good value for families. No daily maid service. Newly renovated, but carpet was stained and spotted. Free parking. Easy to find.Quiet and spacious, good value Fully equipped kitchen - able to cook meals in and save money.

. The condo was comfortable. We love the location of the condo and the lovely grounds. Also, they scheduled a pest control service one day during our stay which wasn’t particularly welcomed. Having to pay $10 extra each time you wanted fresh towels was unexpected. We were a little miffed that they did not provide daily maid service and fresh towels as they have on all our prior visits.Lovely location We have stayed at the Kiahuna Plantation for many years.

. Travelers tip on saving a few bucks Local Costco and Walmart safed a lot of money on meals. Will be back. Was able to safe a little money with the full kitchen was able to fix meals here. The pool was a little out of the way but the grounds were beautiful.Would stay here again Had a great stay here.

. Saw a cockroach (a flying one!).Not impressed with the room The outside property was beautiful but not the rooms.

. The Gaylord’s sunday brunch was also well worth it. Everything available that you need to feel right at home Travelers tip on dining The Smith’s Tropical Paradise Luau was great. Very clean, close to the beach.Relaxing and comfortable A little hard to find, the directions were bad, but well worth it.

Overall, this was an amazing trip!. The condos are walking distance to the shops and restaurants across the street. We didn’t use the pool so can’t comment on that (it’s across the street). We also used the grill once too. We loved having the kitchen, as we were in and out all the time. The condo was spectacular and a very short walk to the beach. This is the best place in Kauai! We stayed at one of the condo’s for a week and it was by far one of the best places we have ever stayed! We had a garden view and got a free upgrade to a deluxe garden view.

Hike down to Wailua Falls, and Hike napali coast, it was awesome!.And tunnels beach was also a good beach to hang out and snorkel at, we saw turtles, but it is also very hot. Travelers tip on recreational activities Bubba’s burgers was the best hamburger Ive had next to In n Out burgers in california. But if that had not happened it would have been perfect. That one thing left a bad impression with me about the Castle Resorts. They did it the next day but would have gotten away with not doing it if I hadn’t complained. My only complaint was that we were suppose to recieve a complete maid service on our 4th day and did not, we just recieved the basic everyday change towels and make beds service and when we called to ask if they had done the complete job they lied and said that they did when it was obvious that they hadn’t.The Plantation restaurant was not too expensive, had a great atmosphere and the food was delicious.Actually it was our favorite beach on all of Kauai, and we visited and spent time at alot of beaches but kept going back to ours. The beach itself was beautiful with palm trees,a great swimming beach and lots of sand.) condo. The grounds were beautiful, the best place on the island to snorkel was right outside our nicely furnished and packed with lots of convenient items to use(boogies boards, beach umbrella beach chairs ice chest ect.Almost Completely Satisfied.

. We are early risers so it only took a day to get use the super noisy animals. If you don’t like noisy roosters then stay elsewhere.lots of roosters....Not too Bad .

. We are definately planning a trip back! Travelers tip on dining Go to Keokie’s for their Kalua pork sandwich. Overall the grounds were beautiful and well maintained and every staff member that we met was super friendly and helpful. We didn’t have an ocean view, although that was an option, but it was just a short stroll to the beach.Very nice and reasonably priced We loved the convenience of having a kitchen in our condo.

. Go out of Port Allen airport not Lihue. Travelers tip on recreational activities Holo Holo boat tours off the coast are not to be missed as is a Helicopter ride with Inter-Island. We will be back but after the building has stopped. The pool area was relaxing but the construction of the new townhomes right next door was a disapointment. Sea turtles were seen swimming by every day. Get in the water early and often. The beach and ocean were great as always. The 2 bedroom unit was spacious for our family of four which included two teens. No doubt local residents feel the same way. We were saddened to see all the new construction and noise around the Poipu area as that takes away from the natual beauty of Kauai. We were happy to see that the resort has not changed much since out last visit which was pre Iniki in 1990.The 4th time This was out 4th return trip to Kiahuna and Kauai.

. The beach had a pretty big south swell and wasn’t safe for our young swimmers, but I bet it’s great in the winter when the island gets the north swell on the other side. The pool was also great for kids with a shallow sandy bottom area and a small waterslide. It was really nice to be able to BBQ at the condo on their time schedule until we were over our jet lag.Great for families We traveled with our 3 and 5 year old boys and had a great time.

Looking forward to next year!! Had a fantastic time loved the hotel.

. Long walk to get to beach also. The pool was across the street from the hotel and very inconvient to get to.Beautiful beach, old hotel Room we stayed in, had not been updated in sometime.

. It’s across the street from the poipu shopping village so getting some food is easy. Pool is great but it is across the street from the hotel on a busy street.Beautiful location needs updating Very kid friendly and love the decor although it did need some updating.

. Also the best Lauau is Smith’s get reservations a week in advance or on the net, but only use their web site. Shop for souvenors at K-Marts they have the best priced section and prices on the island. Check the latest Ultimate Kauai Guidebook and eat were the "locals" eat. We love the Hawaiian atmospere and convience to shops and restraunts and will stay there again. the place does not have air conditioning, but the fans were adequate. I called the office and was told that’s when we were scheduled. We stayed ten days and the trash was only picked up once and housekeeping came after the fifth day to change the linens and towels. Will go back If you like to prepare your oun meals al the utensils are provided, along with all cleaning soaps.

. In the Poipu area, go snorkeling right next the the Beach House restaurant in Lawai, it’s fantastic! We enjoyed Keoki’s Paradise in the Poipu shopping village and Tomkats (great drink specials and not too pricy). Those areas have less of a touristy feel and are closer to the North shore which has the best beaches. Travelers tip on getting the most out of your stay I recommend staying closer to the eastern part of the island in an area such as Kapa’a. It really didn’t feel like a plantation. All in all, not a bad experience, but I was hoping for something more unique and personal. This is supposed to be a decent hotel and the bed felt like a motel. Also, the bed was old and creaky and really needed to be replaced. Cons: We were excited for staying at this private ocean view room on the beach, but it was only an ocean view to the extent that if you look very closely, you can see a bit of sand if you through a few trees in the distance. The pool across the street is fantastic and not crowded. The owner left items in the room that made our stay nicer, such as books, a CD player with Hawaiian music, a wine opener, and stuff for the beach.Kiahuna is not great, not bad Pros: The room is a one-bedbroom condo that is privately owned.

Beautiful!. Sushi at the Hyatt down the road was a great, and a perfect place for a evening cocktail at sunset. Travelers tip on dining The best or one of the best dinners we had was at the old Plantation Gardens at the hotel. We will go back again. But the beach and grounds were immaculate. Would recommend getting closer to the beach away from the road as it was noisy at times. The rooms were great with a beautiful view.Highly recommend We saw this hotel 25 years ago and always wanted to stay there; we were not disappointed.

Favorite snorkeling beach: Anini. We hiked the Kalalau Trail to the first beach, 2 1/2 hours one way, and found the view very beautiful, but the hike very strenuous, especially coming back! The beach is not recommended for swimming, too dangerous. My kids got to see what the island dances were about, without the huge investment. We watched the free Hula Show at the shopping center across the street. The pool was ok, had a medium size slide, my kids had fun there, but we were here for the beaches. We also enjoyed the sounds of the birds and frogs, though sometimes it woke us up. The trade winds made our stay very comfortable. We had a corner unit, three flights up - no elevator. Master bed was very comfortable. Decor was a little dated - 1990’s rattan and colors.Ocean view was worth it Nice 1 bedroom with beautiful view of hotel’s lagoon and the ocean beyond.

. Would be nice to have a true pool instead of a kid pool. Need better and consistent BBQ areas.Very nice and very comfortable! Nice grounds! Wish condo had stack washer and dryer.

. Next to the Sheraton, where we did a Luau and a massage. No air conditioning, which is usually OK except on the very humid days, but usually the fan is sufficient. We never saw the pool while we were there, it was across the street. Barbecues on site. Condo style room with full kitchen, large grassy areas for the kids or lounging. Nice beach, but rocky bottom as opposed to Hanalei Beach on the North Side of the Island. Very affordable and perfect for families.Good affordable family hotel Hotel is in nice location in south part of Kauai at Poipu Beach.

. We also enjoyed the atmosphere at Keiko’s Restaurant. The swimming hole and lunch were terrific! Don’t miss the Puka Dogs in the shopping center across from the condos. We went to Princeville Ziplines, they were great. Mahalo Travelers tip on local attractions We loved the zipline. We had a wonderful time, and would definitely return. Karen Barns, the Expedia Concierge was very helpful in booking our adventures for us.Beautiful grounds, and we loved sitting at the beach each night and watching the sunset! Close the plantation blinds at night because the local birds are early risers! The condo was great and the beach/grass area was even better.

. It’s beautiful and if you like to snorkel near the beach there were more visible fish than at Poipu. Travelers tip on local attractions Take a short drive to Salt Pond Beach. Would recommend. Although the apartment decor is a bit outdated, all appliances and furniture are clean and comfortable. It’s a short walk from their sports club, tennis, and a great pool, as well as a short walk down to the beautiful Poipu Beach.Good experience Castle Kiahuna Plantation & Beach Bungalows made for a very great, comfortable home base while we were exploring Kauai.

The condo was clean & perfect! The condo supplied us with a beach umbrella, chair & cooler and it was great! I highly recommend this hotel and this particular condo! It was on an end unit & very quiet! Close to diving & central to the entire island too! Travelers tip on local attractions Local snorkling at Acid Drops right around the corner; local dive shops are great too!.Castle Kiahuna Plantation - April 26 - May 2 What a great condo! It exceeded our expectations! We stayed in room 336 on the third floor & had a beachview (one upgrade).

. Suggestions to improve comfort: - A/C for better sound-proofing - Kid-free condo units (yea, am sure that’ll go over well!) - Housekeeping service might vacuum once in a while. Front desk staff not all that helpful. Units are spacious, updated and have a lot of nice amenities (highspeed internet, microwave, dishwasher) and decent gas grills on the well-manicured grounds. (I would recommend an upper unit to alleviate that).nice for ocean breezes; not nice for "quiet enjoyment", especially if adjoining units have guests with infants/small children that enjoy screaming at 5am and hollering when they walk past your unit...not necessarily a good thing! No A/C means windows are open all night....Family-friendly.

Travelers tip on dining Shrimp Station-Puka Dog-Keoikos all yummy!!!!...We also received a complimentary bottle of champagne as an anniversary gift from the hotel-very nice.... We will definitely go back. Great beach and a plus of towels and beach chairs that were complimentary.. The garden view we had with the lanai was perfect for our morning coffee and afternoon Mai Tai.42 was not acceptable-we upgraded to unit 61 for a small fee per day and LOVED it. The room we originally booked bldg.Beautiful Room Went to Kiahuna Plantation for our 35th Anniversary.
