Nice clean condoClean and comfortable condo, close enough to Kona to walk into town.Rating:3
Nice placeI think the economy has affected the service of the hotel. The maid did not come but once during the 10 days we were there. But we still like it there, it is a beautiful place to stay.Rating:3
So Noisy! Our room is garden view, but the bedroom is so closed with the mainroad, so it is very noisy all the time, I find it is more comfort for me to sleep in the living room rather than ithe bedroom! You can buy the food from Kmart, It is only 5 mins away of the hotel, and it is easy to use all the cooking equipment so you can enjoy the interest in the kitchen!Rating:4
someday we want to go back!It was a wonderful location right on the beach and a few blocks from downtown Kona. The room itself needed some upgrading. The beds werent the greatest and it needed a new refrigerator. Owners were very friendly and helpful.Rating:4
Amazing Room with a beautiful view!Stayed here for 3 nights in August, and would most definitely recommend it to others! It was well-maintained and clean. Our room overlooked the beach, and we would just pull out the futon at night and sleep to the sound of waves. The condo is well equipped (kitchenware, laundry, snorkel gear, beach chairs etc). Good location too, its at the end of the strip, so a 5 min walk to the hustle bustle. Would definitely go back and stay there!Rating:4
I liked Kona ReefKona Reef was a pretty nice our condo was very nice and the view was great. It was very close to town. I will come and saty there again.Rating:3
Great Location little messyGreat location. It was a little noisy from the units above. Kitchen and living area were clean and nice. The bedroom was hot and the carpet was dirty. The staff was great and very helpful. They even stored out luggage while we went hiking before we had to go to the airport.
Travelers tip on recreational activitiesGreat location for access to recreation on the Kailua Kona side of Hawaii.Rating:5
good valuehad a great time here. beautiful weather, views out our lanai, great condos, clean and cool.will be backRating:5
Oceanfront rooms have excellent viewsWe spent six days on at the hotel. The room had a well-equipped kitchen and we were able to use the grills near the pool to cook our food. The room was spacious, and the oceanfront view was excellent. The surfers were right in front of our room. The fold-out couch in the living room was nice for kids. Since we didnt stay seven days, there wasnt room service, but the people on the staff were very nice.
Travelers tip on saving a few bucksYou will save a lot of money if you avoid spending too much time in restaurants.Rating:3
Room mediocre, but view fantasticOur room was mediocre at best. Some renovation begun, but not finished. Bedroom was extremely cramped, and the closet was taken up by storage. Minimal space for clothes and no space for shoes. We were given 1 1/2 rolls of toilet paper for 3 people for the week, and when we requested another roll we were given an argument. All that being said, the air conditioner worked well, the location was great, and the view was fantastic! And thats what mattered most to us.Rating:3
Adequate, convenient and great view!We knew we were on a "budget" trip. Thats why we went to Expedia, after all. The Kona Reef is apparently and older complex. It has a great location. It is very convenient to all the shopping and the pier where excursions leave. The view is wonderful and there is a small sandy beach which we enjoyed. The pool is beautiful. Our 1 bedroom condo was large, clean and comfortable, just very basic. Make sure you locate the level of the parking garage most convenient to your unit. There are 2 levels, and they have completely separate entrances. This is not spelled out on the complex map, so we had to figure it out on our own.
Travelers tip on recreational activitiesCaptain Zodiac was our favorite!!! Its a motorized rafting trip that is dynamic, high energy, fun and informative. Its the way to go snorkeling! Our teenaged daughters loved it!Rating:5
Great place and excellent value for your moneyIt was a great place to stay. I would recommend it. We might be willing to pay the extra for an oceanfront room if we get to go again. Besides having an unobstructed view of the ocean those rooms are far away from the traffic noise on the street. Some ocean view rooms have a really good view of the ocean and some do not. Our CD player didnt work which was a disappointment.Rating:5
Awesome view and just yards from the oceanWithout a doubt, the condo itself was quite nice, but for us, the very best part was the view from our balcony! The first couple of nights we slept in the bedroom but the sound of the ocean was such an enticement that we decided to pull out the sleeper sofa. Amazingly it was very comfortable and we spent the rest of the week sleeping with the wonderful sound of crashing surf and opening our eyes at first light to the sight of palm trees and ocean.
Travelers tip on local attractionsTake the time to travel south a few miles and check out the South Kona Fruit Stand and have lunch there or at the Coffee Shack (awesome view). Do not miss a tour of Mountain Thunder Coffee (a few miles north). Once youve tasted 100% pure Kona Coffee, youll be hooked!Rating:5
Will book againStayed in one bedroom, ocean view... and it was well worth the upgrade. The view from the private lanai was incredible, scenic. We saw spinner dolphins and surfers from our vantage point. Everything was clean and comfortable... even the pull-out bed for my teenager was in good shape.Good location. Good parking. Just what we wanted.
Travelers tip on recreational activitiesGo snorkeling and see sea turtles galore and tropical fish. There are plenty of convenient snorkel rentals in town and many great snorkel beaches right around Kona.Rating:4
Comfortable, Great view, great locationRight on the water. Spacious, very pleasant. Close to restraurants.Rating:4
close to area we visited 34d great roomgreat views we stayed in 34d. we wanted to eat some meals in room. having coking facilites was a big reason to stay here.house keeping hit and miss we stayed one week they were stingy with towels. we would stay again
Travelers tip on saving a few bucksthere is a farmers market with fresh fruit and produce in town (kailua) open four days a week.my wife and i bought all our veggies and fruit there.Rating:1
Disappointment.....The condo in which we stayed (D27) was in terrible disrepair. The appliances were VERY old, the rugs stained and dirty, the paint was old and very scuffed, and the bedroom linens were ragged. Whoever owns this condo needs to put in some major work to make it more pleasant. The condo next door (D26) was absolutely stunning...we wanted a comparison. We upgraded to a beachfront view, thniking we would have a nicer room, and the view was beautiful, of course. But the state of the condo itself was very poor.
Travelers tip on recreational activitiesLoved the ATV ride on the north side of the island. Well worth the money!Rating:5
Very Pleasant and Enjoyable Stay. This is the first, on the beach condo, hotel, whatever you call them, in 25 years of visiting Hawaii, where you actually felt like you were on the beach. The view was fantastic and relaxing. The pool and Spa area was first class, well cared for with clean stainless BBG areas to cook at. I dont know about the other rooms. but our condo was equipped to the gills with every cooking amenity you needed to provide meals, smoothies etc. Things like Egg, Rice ccokers, tea pots, toasters, slow cookers, on & On. It even had items you could use during your trip like beach mats, ice freezer packs. Visitors had commented in the room log, how they had watched the whales from the balcony. Plenty of easy access parking, and an easy walk to town. A very pleasant and enjoyable place to stay. Ill be back to stay here for sure.
Travelers tip on diningThe kitchen & BBQ facilities really help keep the food costs down. They help you save up for a dont miss dinner at "Bubba Gumps". Just up the road is "Alii Gardens" where they have the best snow cone in the World, and dont miss the Punaluu bakery in Naalehu on your way to the volcano.Rating:4
Just like a mini apartmentThe thing with this hotel it is all depends on the room you get. The location is awesome, just a short walk to town. You have washer/dryer, plates, cups, and we even had supplies for the beach! The only bad thing was our room was very outdated! My husband said it was decorated like the inside of a ABC store! When we walked past other rooms, many had modern furnishings and looked like modern homes. I would love to stay here again but I would ask for another room...Good luck!Rating:5
What a view! The view from our room was incredible! The sunsets were incredible right from the balconly of our unit. Our unit was a bit dated but had everything we needed. We ate in every night, enjoying the sunsets. The grilling area was a bonus. Walking into town was so easy. Really enjoyed this trip. Cant wait to come back!
Travelers tip on getting the most out of your stayStop at the Big Island Grill. Local food, Hawaiian friendly service and reasonable prices!Rating:5
Great Place! My wife and I stayed in B34 for six nights the first week in March 09. Everything was wonderful. Newly refurbished, very clean with a good view. A short walk to all the action in Kailua-Kona. Very nice staff. Were going to try and get the same room on our next trip to the Big Island.
Travelers tip on getting the most out of your stayDedicate at least a week for the Big Island. Its BIG!Rating:4
Kailua-Kona vacationHotel Condo is an old building, nice location, next to ocean, close to shopping, and restaurants..Hotel service is OK, and cleaness in room is ok. (we just happen to have the room next to the main highway, so traffic is always noise, and busy, but we just close all windows and door to avoid some noises).
Travelers tip on saving a few bucksPack some dry foods, and go to local groceries to cook at condo, and save some money.Rating:5
good place for the moneygood place to stay for the money....note, this is the key(the value). its not a hi end hotel...but a nice, clean, good location place to be.Rating:4
Well stay at this hotel again! The only thing that we could find wrong with our room was that the patio slider screen kept coming off its track. No maintence had been done on it. They fixed it for us. We were so happy to find beach chairs, snorkel equip., beach mats, & coolers provided so we didnt have to buy all this. Nice touch! We loved the location and the pool area and will go back again sometime.Rating:5
SereneThis is one of those little "treasures" that you sometimes read about but rarely find yourself. Our room was located oceanfront with just a strip of grass that bordered the lava rocks from the Pacific Ocean. The view was panaramic where we saw whales, dolphins playing and the native surf-boarders practicing their skills all from our 3rd floor lanai. This is not a posh condo hotel but if you like the sound of the ocean, clean rooms, and the feel of the past, this is for you.
Travelers tipThis hotel had nice appliances (including washer and dryer), a lovely pool, and was a short walk to the restaurants, etc.
