not far from the beach and fun nites on deck watching beach and sunsets will definitely go back

We would love to go back and visit the beach is within walking distance, just down the hill from hotel and views from rooms are wonderful.

Travelers tip on getting the most out of your stay

very good location for the whole family to do what they want and plenty of restaurants close by

    Bad idea

If it’s not bad enough that it looks really run down on the outside it only gets worse when you enter. The room had just a terrible odor and was really in need of some updates. The view was very misleading as well. If you looked through the trees and over the house you might be able to catch a glimpse of the ocean - not what most people would consider any type of view. The mini fridge was sitting on a piece of board, which looked tacky. The fireplace worked VERY intermittently at best, which made it mostly pointless. I could deal with the relatively small tv, but on top of the fireplace was a bad choice, plus there was no dvd player as stated in the room description. In fact, there was no bathtub, just a really weird shower with a very high shower head that didn’t move. The cable worked terribly and there wasn’t even a phone. I felt like this room was NOTHING like what was described. I could only think that reviewers had actually stayed someplace else if they thought it was at all acceptable. Just awful.

    Watch out

They tried to give me a less expensive room then what I paid for. I would recommend bringing proof of what you paid for. I had to show them my paperwork from Expedia before they would give me a different room.

Good value, awesome ocean view but don’t expect anything fancy.

We booked this hotel because we needed a place to stay one night on our way down to Newport. For the money we spent we thought the hotel was a good value. Do not come here expecting 5 star service or a plush room as it is a basic motel located right on the busy Route 101. Room was somewhat dated and there was an ususual strip of carpet along the wall where one would usually expect floorboards (not a big deal but something we both noticed). The highlight was definitely the view from the room which faces the beach. We left the sliding door to the deck open at night and fell asleep to the crashing waves. The motel also had easy access to the beach for those who wish to take a walk along the shoreline.

    Travelers tip on dining

Just be aware that much of Lincoln City closes down fairly early so it may be difficult to find a decent place to eat if you are looking for something other than fast food.

    Really Disappointed

I have never had a bad stay at the Oregon Coast until now. I really feel I was duped by the room pictures on the internet. My husband and I were celebrating an anniversary, so we wanted a romantic room. The one we got had older carpet that stuck to your feet as you walked and a fireplace that wouldn’t turn on. The first host that showed us the room turned on the switch and saw that it didn’t work and pretended it didn’t happen and left. The second host was more friendly and tried to get it to work, but eventually put us in a room next door. Ironically, the fireplace in this room had the pilot light on, but we couldn’t turn the fire up! The floor in the second room was less sticky, but still was slightly sticky. The bed was a king, but after six hours on it, our backs hurt so badly we got up. I almost thought I was on Candid Camera! We will eventually look back and laugh at this experience, but at the time it was a very disappointing stay for an anniversary or any occasion for that matter.

    Edgecliff Hotel - Not impressed

Pulled into parking lot thinking "wow, what a dump!" Buildings have obviously been renovated but quality not top notch. The first room we were shown had a full kitchen, which we didn’t need, a pretty view from a tiny sitting area and at the back of the unit, 2 double beds with a window opening into a hallway, it was dirty and the window opening into the hall is not conducive to privacy. The second room also had a kitchen, a lesser view and one double bed, Again the bedroom window opened into a hallway. At least 4 rooms in this building were rented to the same group and the hallways were full of people going from one room to another. The third room was better, actually had a queen (although small queen)bed, but no view; we were getting more bummed by the minute. The poor clerk ( I actually felt sorry for him) was just distressed at our obvious displeasure, he kept asking us what he could do to make us happy. We told him we just wanted to get our money back and take our chances down the road. He finally asked us what we had paid, and upon finding out, offered us a jacuzzi suite with a king bed for the same price. When we entered, we noticed that this room was newer and cleaner than the 3 previous rooms, and it had a king bed (again very small for a king). We agreed to take this room, and it was comfortable and served our purpose. However, I don’t think that I would recommend this hotel and I know I won’t be going back.

My back hurt after 2 days here. The continental breakfast consisted of bad coffee and muffins. The staff was nice but I will stay somewhere else next time.

    Very relaxing place to Unwind!

I had never stay here before but pasted it alot, was I ever pleased with my experience. The hotel is older but very nice and clean, the room was on the second floor, with a nice view overlooking trees and the ocean, the balcony was great for relaxing, the weather was very overcast and misty but wonderful for having the fireplace going and the door open..Very Very nice. I will be back!

    nice room, dirty motel

Beautiful view from our room. The fireplace didn’t work when we got there, so someone was sent to fix it while we were out to dinner. The front desk area was pretty scrappy, and the room smelled like someone had just been smoking pot when we came in to rent a movie in the evening. The staff did the bare minimum and were a little sketchy looking. The motel was dated and in need of cleaning. Our room was fine, but the rest of the place needs help.

    Very Relaxing

3 day stay and we were never put out by knocking on the door by staff. We did not expect to come back from being in town to a clean room and beds made, it was very nice. Staff was very friendly. Room was clean and comfortable.

    Unbelievably beautiful view

I stayed at the Edgecliff once before and was very disappointed, but one year later it has greatly improved. Every room has a spectacular view of the ocean and the price is very reasonable.

Great views / access to the beach, reasonable rates

Not fancy, but great views and access to the beach. I stayed here two years ago in an apartment-style suite (separate kitchen, living room, bedroom, bath) -- that was OK, but many of the kitchen amenities needed updating. This trip I stayed in an ordinary motel room (combination bed & sitting area, bathroom). Both trips I was very impressed with the large balcony overlooking the beach (Pacific Ocean). I would say if possible request the top floor for the best views. The room was fine -- it was nice having a microwave and refrigerator. Access to the beach is via relatively steep stairs and paved lanes -- not suitable for individuals who have difficulty walking down (and up!) slopes. The breakfast provided isn’t anything special.

    Great, but not fantastic

we loved the view and the room. We had a nice fireplace and a nice layout. Just wished it had a pool or hottube. Also very nice service.

A bit old...but they made it work for us.

We started in a room that was ancient. It smelled and the bed about killed us the first night. When we expressed our concern the staff bent over backwards to make it up to us. They moved us to a smaller room, not a sweet but it was SOOOO much better, newer and comfortable. I would recommend this hotel mor the price if you make sure you are in a newer remodeled room. The view was absolutely breathtaking.

    Not impressed at all

They were not helpful at all. The room had nothing extra. 2 towels 2 wash clothes and a hair dryer. We had to ask for the coffee maker. Called the receptionist, and she was short with me because I asked if she knew a restraunt that delivers besides pizza. No info for highlights of the community or what the hotel had to offer. The continental breakfast comprised of a container of 12 mini donuts, cereal in small individual packets (maybe 5 to choose from), and coffee. This hotel was not impressive at all. I will not be going back or refer someone there.

    Edgecliff Motel was pretty edgy...

Staff was surly and the halls smelled of greasey cooking -- mixture of pork chops & sauerkraut. The room was clean enough and the view was spectacular but I’d never stay there again.

    Continental Breakfast?

If you like stale frozen donuts for breakfast this is your motel. The .5 block to the beach is strait down, be ready to work getting back up to the motel. The view from our room was satisfactory but some of the other rooms have an obstructed view.

    Travelers tip

Be patient the traffic is atrocious, even on weekdays. If you need to turn across traffic, give yourself a break and go to a traffic light.

    We had a great time.

The room was great. Loved the fireplace. We left the sliding door open so we could hear the ocean all night and we slept by the glow of the fire. It is in a beautiful setting. Easy walk to the beach. Great view.

    Will not recommend.

Good view(but there are lots of other good views in Lincoln City). Motel was not near beach. Beds were very hard, the floor being more comfortable. Breakfest consisted of small cups of cerial, dried up donuts, and coffee. No juice for the kids, no fruit. Web site mentioned internet access in each room. On arrival we were informed by manager/owner/desk person that the only internet access was at the very small table in the very small office, where the owner/manager/desk person would stand there and watch everything we did. Price was very expensive for what we got, so we will not recommend this motel.
