Heavenly HideawayI had a wonderful stay at Gild Hall. After extremely stressful work days in mid-town, it was an easy subway ride back to this quiet, friendly hideaway. My room was lovely, although the bathroom "peepshow" glass made me aware that you would have to be sharing these rooms with a loved one! I would certainly stay here again, and had noting but exceptional service and a very quiet peaceful stay.Rating:4
Nice hotelGild Hall is a nice little hotel. It is downtown and geared more for business than pleasure. I like the decor although as an interior designer, I would have thought out the frosted glass wall separating the bath from the bedroom area more carefully as light floods the bedroom and if someone is sleeping it is really light. They do need more staff at the front desk and a better taxi system but overall we had a pleasant stay.Rating:5
Nice HotelNice hotel, clean room and bathroom. I would recommend it to anyone whos looking for a hotel in that area.Rating:5
Will definitely stay here again. The staff members were professional and courteous. The hotel was clean and comfortable. The room decor was cool. Overall, a very good hotel experience.Rating:5
A great stayWe were very satisfied with this hotel! We were pleased with the none stop warm and friendly greetings from every employee of the Gild Hall. Great service. We will be back.Rating:5
When can we go back? What a terrific hotel. The decor was a kind of combination of rustic and modern. It was so gorgeous and fun! We enjoyed the bar both nights and the bartender (whose name I didnt get)was so delightful. We had a wonderful time visiting with her. Our room was so comfy and classy and the only thing bad I can say is I ate a dark chocolate candy bar that was stale. But other than that the whole experience was just great. All of the staff was helpful and the atmosphere was warm and friendly despite the rain outside. I cant wait to come back!
Travelers tip on diningThere was a wonderful French restaurant within walking distance call Les Halles. It was tres magnifique!Rating:5
Will stay there again!!Beautiful hotel. Very comfortable. Nice area.Rating:4
Great hotel!!Super staff - very friendly and helpful. Very quiet area. Secure.Rating:2
Not worth itThe front desk was not accomodating at all, the air conditioning was broken in our room and they gave us complimentary continental breakfast, which was not a suitable compensation and bathrooms had glass so there was no privacy through the door. Wouldnt recommend this hotel to anyone
Travelers tip on getting the most out of your stayI would much rather stay at the Millenium or Marriott.Rating:5
Surprising ValueWe recently spent a long weekend in NYC and stayed at Gild Hall. We were very surprised to find a lovely small upscale hotel at such an affordable rate. Im sure that it being in the financial district and a weekend helped. The hotel was very convenient to the Metro and close to the South Street Sea Port district. Although it wasnt in one of the more active night life areas, it wasnt a problem to get to any of them via the Metro. There were also a number of nice markets in close proximity that we made use of for breakfast and snacks. When we return to NYC we will make a point to stay here again.Rating:4
NiceHotel had a good location, clean, decent size for NYC, good location near a subway stop and the financal district, south street seaportRating:5
Great hotelGreat location if you want someplace to stay near Brooklyn or other trendy neighborhoods in New York. The hotel amenities and the room we stayed in was well kept and staff were extremely helpful =) Will definitely recommend this to friends and wont mind staying here again!Rating:5
Great hotelIt was very nice. We have a nice visit, and a great stay.Rating:5
GorgeousThe decor is gorgeous old hunting lodge style, room was a good size (for NYC), and the bed was comfortable. I loved the library on the mezzanine. Staff was incredibly pleasant and helpful. The area the hotel is in is a quiet part of the city and I loved that I didnt have to deal with the insane touristy crowds.
Travelers tip on diningThe pizza bar across the street had great pizza for late night snacking.Rating:3
Really Bad IdeaWe liked everything about this hotel except for one thing. The door to the bathroom was an opaque glass and it was visible from the room. Why in the world the designer felt it important to view bathroom activities from the room is beyond me... I guess they thought it was chic. Really stupid Idea!
Travelers tip on diningnice little Itialian restaurant just down the street. Nice outdoor eating area, food was good and prices were reasonable..Rating:5
Wonderful HotelIt was a great stay. The staff was great, very helpful and polite. The next time I am staying in the NYC area, for business or leisure, this hotel will definitely be at the top of my list.Rating:5
best hotel I stayed in NYCeverything about this hotel is great...the decor, the service, the drinks at the bar and even if not in the hub, the location was good too. Only thing I didnt like are the semitrasparent door of the bathroomRating:5
Great place to stayThe staff was very helpful and willing to make sure your stay was pleasant. The rooms were clean and the beds were very comfortable. We would be willing to stay here again the next time we are in New York City.
Travelers tip on local attractionsGild Hall is within walking distance of the Financial District, Ground Zero and the Statue of Liberty. Also within walking distance are a few great delis. We took are teenagers and they enjoyed the sights and didnt mind the walking.Rating:5
Lovely Boutique HotelSituated in a very nice section of the financial district, this hotel is lovely. The rooms are clean, quiet, nicely sized and well maintained. I would stay here again.Rating:5
Great Financial District locationThe hotel was right in the middle of the financial district, within walking distance of Pier 17 and the Brooklyn Bridge. The subway system was easily accessible (about 2 blocks away) and there were lots of little shops and restaurants all around. The hotel itself was very nice, neat and clean. The staff was very helpful. Our only complaint (and it is a minor one) is the room was a little too "modern" for our liking. We prefer big comfy chairs, good lighting and a little more bath privacy -- the room was instead high fashion with a very stylish uncushioned chair, a glass bathroom and little lighting. It was absolutely clean and neat just not as comfortable as we would typically prefer but that would not stop us from staying there again if we had cause to be in that area.
Travelers tip on local attractionsMake sure you go to MacGuires Pub on Clift street for a good drink and friendly atmosphere. Straight down Gold Street is the entrance to the Brooklyn Brdige walkway which is worth the views. And, Les Halles Brassiere has an excellent menu and excellent service.Rating:5
Reaction of hotel management to my complainWe had the hotels staff waking us up @10:30pm by mistake. We were quite disappointed (tired, because of trying to catch the jet-lag). After pointing this out to management, we got FREE UPGRADE OF ROOM, CHAMPAGNE AND 4 BREKFASTS. This is what I consider real customer treatment! Thaks a lot, hotel management!Rating:5
Great place, well stay there againThis is a wonderful small hotel. The staff was very attentive. The only down side was that it was hard to regulate the temperature.Rating:2
A little service goes a long way!I arrived at the hotel early and was told my room wasnt ready and check-in was at 3:00 pm. Other people were waiting as well. I left and came back at 1:00 and was told the same thing. I did notice all the other people were not around and understood they all had checked in. I left again and came back at 2:00 and was told the same thing. By this time my patience had expired and I persuasively expressed my disappointment and was upgraded and given a room immediateley. Caution, this room had a raised unnoticeable threshhold from the bathroom and twice I nearly tripped on it and fell to the floor. I will not return to this property.
Travelers tip on diningThere are great restaurants close by and I find it fun to eat small appetizers in about three or four and call it a meal. Also, there are great places to shop for clothing.Rating:5
ONE OF THE BEST Hotel Ive ever stayed in my LifeThis is the BEST HOTEL Ive stayed in the States, ever!!! Excellent Customer Service with Wonderful Manner. Staff is very helpful and polite. Hotel is very clean and tidy, definitely is better than in the pictures. Stylish decor room and bathroom. Very thoughtful to everything for customer. Location is very good as well, close to the Statue of Liberty and subway station. Great value of 3 nights stay for 2!! I am very impressed and will be back again next time!!
