Not impressed but they are updatingWe book this hotel on line because of the rate and location. There were not a lot of other options available, price wise. It needs work but it was okay for what we needed. We were awaken by the sound of maintenance repairs being made next door and this was around 7am. As we were checking out we were told they were changing to a another hotel chain in 2009 which is good for the area.Rating:2
Not at all what I had expectedI have stayed at this hotel when it was AmeriSuites and was very satified but since the change in ownership it is not at all what it was before.Rating:4
Oh humDid not exceed expexctations, for sure. The reception desk clerk announced as introduction that check-in time is 4:00PM, the website and Expedia said 3:00, even though upon registration they had the rooms available at 2:00. Maid service was all but inexistant, though it wasnt critical for a 2 night stay. On the other hand, its a great location, and the free breakfast was more than decent. Be aware that its not quite on the beach, its a 1200ft walk.Rating:4
Good experience, we would consider staying here again in the futureComplimentary breakfast was above average. Maid service was a little later in the day than we would have preferred - typically not yet serviced when we returned at the end of the afternoon to shower and dress for dinner. But this was only a minor inconvenience.Rating:2
Would not stay againWe did not enjoy our stay. The check in receptionist was not friendly, however the person I spoke with when checking out was nice. Hallways had the stench of stale cigarette smoke. The room size and features were good, sleeper sofa, king bed and kitchenette area, but seemed old and somewhat dated. It seemed like hotel catered to long term work crews needing a place to stay while in the area. Continental breakfast food items were always running out. Spending a few more bucks and to get ocean front would be worth the extra cost. All-in-all not horrible, just not enjoyable for a beach vacation.Rating:4
Not New or Shiny, but Comfortable & KindHotel is a little run down but service is good and for the money it cost, mid summer and all the breakfast included, it was a good value. Room was clean and beds were comfortable. It just no longer shines like a new penney but it is not gross or anything like that.Rating:5
Very Confortable StayI enjoyed the hotel very much. The staff was kind and courteous, and very helpful. The breakfast buffet was great as well! Would definitely return...Rating:3
Not so goodWhen we entered the room, we found an empty can of soda and an empty bottle of water. Oops. The bathroom wall had globs of some sort of pink gel. Oops. The night shift front desk person was less than personable or helpful and did not relay requests we needed for housekeeping. The daytime front desk people were quite the opposite and quite informative, too. After the first night, the room was "cleaned" but, oops, the half-used bar of soap was left on the drain and the pink gel globs were still untouched. The refrigerator and extra pull-out couch/sitting area were nice.
Travelers tip on local attractionsGo to the aquarium and McCurdys on the causeway is really good.Rating:1
Not my best experienceOls, tired and dirtyRating:2
Dirty roomThe hotel was in great beach location and lobby looked good. However, our room still had used soap in shower, dirty glasses, etc. We typically always enjoy Amerisuites but were very disappointed by the condition of our room. Would not stay at this location again.Rating:4
ComfortableThe hotel was nice. Good breakfast. Comfortable. My only complaint was the telephones in the room were sticky and so was the remote control to the TV...in other words...they felt like they had not been cleaned in a very long time. Gross...when you consider you hold the phone close to your mouth + how many people touched it before I finally cleaned it. I guess I wish there had been more detail to cleaning. Descent place though.Rating:5
Looking for More AmeriSuitesI mainly chose this hotel because I am a breakfast person and AmeriSuites has a spread you wouldnt believe. Anyone would be satisfied.Their complimentary breakfast alone had me contemplating staying in their hotel for a week versus a condo where I would have to prepare my own breakfast.
Travelers tip on getting the most out of your stayAmeriSuites is located in a very nice location. Not too far from Fort Macon State Park which is a lovely place to tour and very accessible to Morehead Citys Waterfront. Should you happen to go there, make sure you check out The Channel Markers for dinner,a fine restaurant on the water.Rating:4
Decent beach hotelThe rooms are large and include a couch, microwave, and fridge. The staff was mostly pleasant and the free breakfast was better than I expected. The rooms are not oceanside but depending on your location you can still see the ocean from your room. It is a 5 minute walk across the street to the public beach access. The rooms, however, were a little dirtier than I would have liked. There was hair in our shower when we arrived. Also the beds arent the most comfortable; at least not the ones in our room.Rating:4
Checked In EarlyWe got there an hour early and they let us check in. That was good of them,We got to unload and get to the beach. Crossing the road to get to the Beach is hairy. Lots of traffic going both ways. Becareful and looking both ways. The pool was nice but cold early in the mornings. It said it was heated but It didnt seem to be.Rating:1
Will never return thereRoom was not as described on Expedia review and was not as I had requested. Room smelled so bad that we had to try and change rooms. Front Desk stated there were no other available rooms. We had to go out and buy Febreeze and spray the entire room just to stay there. Would not recommend this hotel to anyone else. Also not worth the cost. Will never return.Rating:4
Just beware of what youre gettingWe mistakenly thought this hotel was on the beach. Not so. Its on the sound side of the island, but you dont see the sound from your hotel room. We got a glimpse of someones backyard with a small swamp and a portion of a golf course. Nothing wrong with the hotel, but not what we were expecting or wanting for our beach getaway weekend. We didnt stay but checked out and went elsewhere.

Pleasant stayThis was a very comfortable & convenient hotel stay. I would recommend this hotel, and the off season rates are unbeatable. The only downside is that there is no restaurant in the hotel, but theres a nice complimentary breakfast.
