Travelers tip on dining
We are early diners and found it inconvenient that the bars and restaurants did not open until 6:00 p. We would certainly return to this hotel. Every single staff member we spoke with was anxious to help in anyway. Our room was very nice with a great ocean view as we had requested. We were delighted upon arrival to find exactly what we wanted.Beautiful setting
After reading some not so favorable reviews we were a little concerned about the hotel.
Loved our visit
loved the view.
. Dining room service was very poor, and the food was passable.Eat Somewhere Else
The hotel is lovely and accommodating.
. Only negative: you cannot swim in the ocean near hotel. The Expedia/concierge was extremely helpful in booking activities. Make sure you rent a car.Helpful hotel
Very nice hotel and great food (especially at the bar near the pools)! Central location on the island which makes it easy to get to everything.
$13 per day to park is BS though. good over all value and local. staff were friendly and room was nice. didnt like that. when i asked they said that it was not an "ocean front room" that was an upcharge. booked a ocean view room and got a great view of the pool with a glimps of the ocean. food was okay. Not bad
nice hotel.
Its a keeper!!.Great Hotel!
Great deal, relaxed atmosphere, friendly staff, cant wait to go back.
Awesome vacation
everyone was welcoming!.
.Very, very nice
Great hotel, awesome pool complex, good gym.
. Highly recommended. They fly a single-engine Cessna, and the tour is fun, beautiful and even educational.
Travelers tip on local attractions
We took a sightseeing flight with "Wings Over Kauai" from the Lihue airport and had the times of our lives. Overall, great experience. The hotel shuttle picked us up at the Lihue airport (quick service, and its less than 10 minutes to the hotel) and took us back to the airport to pick up a rental car. We used the self parking (no tag or permit necessary) and did not have to pay the resort fee. The air conditioning did not work in our first room, but we were very quickly moved to a room on the fifth (executive floor). The staff was very friendly and helpful, and the hotel was extremely clean., near the Hilton. The location is in between the North and South Coasts, and there were plenty of places to eat, shop, etc. While we did not spend a tremendous time at the hotel during the day, it was a perfect place to make our base for Kauai.Great hotel to make base for Kauai trip
We stayed for four nights at this hotel and were very impressed.
. The rooms are average in decor and size, nothing exceptional but it was quiet and private.
The hotel is nice and clean with pretty grounds.Overall, nice hotel.
. Also, youre close to Wailua River kayaking activities, Lydgate State Park -decent snorkeling in enclosed pool and great walking trails, and drive to Opaekaa Falls lookout.the beds were better than those at the Westin Princeville!
Travelers tip on local attractions
Check out Kauai Village Shopping Center just north of the hotel in Kapaa (Starbucks, Jamba Juice, Safeway, Subway, Papayas natural food store, cute gift store called Divine Planet)... But if youre going to be an active tourist, this a great place to come back to. Youll miss a flat screen tv, jetted tub and planned activities.other than that, the staff was friendly and concerned about our comfort and satisfaction... We had one front desk person that was less than helpful. Room service was solid and concierge/guest services was knowledgeable.also a water slide for the kiddies and walking trails along the beach around the hotel... The pool is very neat with waterfalls, 3 sections, grotto area, and sand pool that literally meets the beach. We did have to pay a parking fee but that included valet for our stay. Nice tree-lined drive down to a grand lobby. Very well-maintained grounds and decently appointed rooms.3 3/4 stars
This is about as close as you can get to a four star while still paying 3 star prices.
. Plus the Marriot had a bigger beach area. The Hilton does not heat their pool like the Marriot. The Marriot grounds are much bigger and the pool was nicer. The Hilton was okay, but I would definitely recommend the Marriot.So-So
We decided to stay at the Hilton over the Marriot because the ocean view rooms were cheaper.
this is not only my favorite hilton; its my favorite hotel, period!. the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff is excellent!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, altho you do need to breathe and relax into the hawaiian way, as it does take a while to check in.brunch is fit for a king,or a queen, or me! i can taste the papaya now! there was so much wonderful food at the brunch, we often didnt eat lunch. the beds are to die for, and the $21. the rooms are wonderful and sooo clean.Would recommend this hotel to anyone!
this was my 3rd time at this hotel in kauai.
. If we were staying in Lihue again, wed absolutely go back to this Hilton.95/day parking fee on top of the rental car - so it depends on how much sightseeing you want to do as to which option you go with.but then you pay the $12... Only one thing to be aware of; if wed known how much a cab cost to get us to the nearest food/shopping plaza, we may have gotten our rental car sooner. Everything was clean and fresh; we actually think they may have shampood our carpets during our short stay! The hotel bar and restaurant had excellent options and the staff was extremly pleasent.A very nice hotel
The Hilton was beautifully maintained without being so fancy that you feel out of place.
. However, the staffs demeanor more then made up for this shortcoming. The biggest draw back is that the ocean front is not user friendly.A Good Hotel
It was centrally located to the areas we wanted to visit.
. Also I suggest renting a 4 wheel jeep and exploring some of the off road ares in the canyon.

Be sure to take a helicoptr tour of the Island of Kauai. The staff extremely helpful and kind. The views are awesome. Our new Kauai hotspot
I really enjoyed the stay there.
. In Poipu, Roys cannot be beat for a memorable dinner, for romance choose Gaylords. If you happen to be in Hanalei at lunchtime, you can get an excellent burger for a great price at Bubbas Burgers. The restaurant onsite is not open for lunch but you can have one of the best burgers on the island at the grill behind the main pool. The food simply is not great and your money will be well spent elsewhere.
Travelers tip on dining
With so many wonderful places to dine in Kauai, skip the Naupaka for dinner. You really cannot go wrong here. Only complaint? Uncomfortable, soft bed. No worries there! We have found the staff to be gracious and professional, always smiling and accommodating. The first time we stayed here, we were worried that we would hear every plane that took off but we only heard a couple one day when we were at the pool and they sounded distant. The location is central and makes for easy access to either end of the island, whether youre looking for a sunny day in Poipu or the lushness of Princeville. Our second visit to the Hilton
While not as extravagant as a few hotels on the island (and much better than many others), we have found ourselves feeling very relaxed and welcome at this hotel.
. Plan your meals if your on a budget and enjoy the entire island.
Travelers tip on getting the most out of your stay
Dining expenses will chomp at your wallet if youre not mindful. Worth your hard earned dime to experience a romantic getaway with your sweetheart.great musicians flow through nightly... Shutters lounge was chill. The buffet was fantastic although a little spendy, worth taking your love to for a nice evening. Absolutely the best Ive tasted. Try the pina colada when youre there. The service was excellent from the valets to the bartender. The room was comfortable and clean. We loved it.A+ service and hospitality
My wife and I just got back from our stay at the Kauai Hilton.

"Shutters" had excellent grilled gourmet burgers. Food was excellent. Wonderful pool area with view of the ocean. Wish we had a couple of extra days to spend there. We were pleasantly surprised at how nice the hotel and grounds were.Nice Hotel for the Money!
We only stayed one night here since we had a condo in town and just needed an extra day for a better price on our flight back to the mainland.
.. Restaurant wasnt cheap, none are on the Island really, but the food was worth it when we did eat at the hotel.Very Nice
Had a great time on our honeymoon here, very nice comfortable hotel with friendly and good service.
.Room with a View
Very nice hotel right on the beach (but cant swim there due to currents & coral) Well worth the price.
. Would definitely stay there again. Staff is very friendly and courteous. Thought the $12/day charge for parking, which is new this year, represented an unjustified hidden cost. Pool is nicely designed but cold, at least in February.Excellent location
Great location with easy access to all areas on the island.
. very overpriced and not very good. Avoid BrickOven Pizza. Dukes, Bubbas Burgers, Olympia, just to name a few.
Travelers tip on dining
There are several very good local places to eat. I would recommend to anyone. Overall a very nice place to stay. is incredibly overpriced. The store in the hotel with drinks, snacks, medicine, ect. If you have a late flight out, they allow you to stay at the pool area after you have checked out, they will store your luggage, and even offer a hospitality room to shower. Great location on the island, very close to airport, equally close to north and west sides of island. But by no means did this at all take away from our stay at all. The rooms had been recently updated, but you could tell it was a somewhat older hotel. The beach leaves a lot to be desired, although you can walk from it down to Lydgate beach, which is a few miles away. The Pool area is extremely nice with a couple of different pools, 2 hot tubs, plenty of lounge chairs, and a view of the ocean.but not extravagant
Stayed here for a week in February...Very nice.

Travelers tip on saving a few bucks
Find the places that Hawaiians eat at and youll get better food at a better deal. It wasnt a bad place, but I expected a little more for the cost-per-night. These nanny approaches to managing these things are somewhat understandable, but annoying nonetheless. The hotel towels are pretty tightly managed, so that you have to trade one towel for another, or for a card you can trade for one. The thermostat turns off and resets itself to a too-hot temperature every time you open the patio doors, intentionally, to keep people from leaving the AC on while the doors open. It wasnt too obtrusive, but occasionally, it was annoying. There was a lot of noise sometimes from a dirt track next door for ATVs and dirtbikes. The laundry is very expensive too. But they charge for internet access and parking, both of which are annoying and should just be included for a place like this, especially parking.Nice place, but not worth the money
Overall, the hotel was nice.
Garden island
i know some day ill look back and know that the two weeks i spent at the kauai hilton were some of the happiest days of my life
Travelers tip on saving a few bucks
worry about money later, dont let the price stop you from doing the things you want.
