Beautiful settingAfter reading some not so favorable reviews we were a little concerned about the hotel. We were delighted upon arrival to find exactly what we wanted. Our room was very nice with a great ocean view as we had requested. Every single staff member we spoke with was anxious to help in anyway. We would certainly return to this hotel.
Travelers tip on diningWe are early diners and found it inconvenient that the bars and restaurants did not open until 6:00 p.m. Any lunch or dinners before that had to be eaten at the poolside hut.Rating:5
loved our visitloved the viewRating:5
Eat Somewhere ElseThe hotel is lovely and accommodating. Dining room service was very poor, and the food was passable.Rating:4
Helpful hotelVery nice hotel and great food (especially at the bar near the pools)! Central location on the island which makes it easy to get to everything. Make sure you rent a car. The Expedia/concierge was extremely helpful in booking activities. Only negative: you cannot swim in the ocean near hotel.Rating:4
not badnice hotel. food was okay. booked a ocean view room and got a great view of the pool with a glimps of the ocean. when i asked they said that it was not an "ocean front room" that was an upcharge. didnt like that. staff were friendly and room was nice. good over all value and local. $13 per day to park is BS thoughRating:5
Great Hotel!Great deal, relaxed atmosphere, friendly staff, cant wait to go back. Its a keeper!!Rating:5
awesome vacationeveryone was welcoming!Rating:5
very, very niceGreat hotel, awesome pool complex, good gym.Rating:5
Great hotel to make base for Kauai tripWe stayed for four nights at this hotel and were very impressed. While we did not spend a tremendous time at the hotel during the day, it was a perfect place to make our base for Kauai. The location is in between the North and South Coasts, and there were plenty of places to eat, shop, etc., near the Hilton. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and the hotel was extremely clean. The air conditioning did not work in our first room, but we were very quickly moved to a room on the fifth (executive floor). We used the self parking (no tag or permit necessary) and did not have to pay the resort fee. The hotel shuttle picked us up at the Lihue airport (quick service, and its less than 10 minutes to the hotel) and took us back to the airport to pick up a rental car. Overall, great experience.
Travelers tip on local attractionsWe took a sightseeing flight with "Wings Over Kauai" from the Lihue airport and had the times of our lives. They fly a single-engine Cessna, and the tour is fun, beautiful and even educational. Highly recommended.Rating:4
Overall, nice hotel. The hotel is nice and clean with pretty grounds. The rooms are average in decor and size, nothing exceptional but it was quiet and private.Rating:5
3 3/4 starsThis is about as close as you can get to a four star while still paying 3 star prices. Very well-maintained grounds and decently appointed rooms. Nice tree-lined drive down to a grand lobby. We did have to pay a parking fee but that included valet for our stay. The pool is very neat with waterfalls, 3 sections, grotto area, and sand pool that literally meets the beach...also a water slide for the kiddies and walking trails along the beach around the hotel. Room service was solid and concierge/guest services was knowledgeable. We had one front desk person that was less than helpful...other than that, the staff was friendly and concerned about our comfort and satisfaction. Youll miss a flat screen tv, jetted tub and planned activities. But if youre going to be an active tourist, this a great place to come back to...the beds were better than those at the Westin Princeville!
Travelers tip on local attractionsCheck out Kauai Village Shopping Center just north of the hotel in Kapaa (Starbucks, Jamba Juice, Safeway, Subway, Papayas natural food store, cute gift store called Divine Planet). Also, youre close to Wailua River kayaking activities, Lydgate State Park -decent snorkeling in enclosed pool and great walking trails, and drive to Opaekaa Falls lookout.Rating:4
So-SoWe decided to stay at the Hilton over the Marriot because the ocean view rooms were cheaper. The Hilton was okay, but I would definitely recommend the Marriot. The Marriot grounds are much bigger and the pool was nicer. The Hilton does not heat their pool like the Marriot. Plus the Marriot had a bigger beach area.Rating:5
would recommend this hotel to anyone!this was my 3rd time at this hotel in kauai. the rooms are wonderful and sooo clean. the beds are to die for, and the $21.brunch is fit for a king,or a queen, or me! i can taste the papaya now! there was so much wonderful food at the brunch, we often didnt eat lunch. the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff is excellent!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, altho you do need to breathe and relax into the hawaiian way, as it does take a while to check in. this is not only my favorite hilton; its my favorite hotel, period!Rating:4
A very nice hotelThe Hilton was beautifully maintained without being so fancy that you feel out of place. Everything was clean and fresh; we actually think they may have shampood our carpets during our short stay! The hotel bar and restaurant had excellent options and the staff was extremly pleasent. Only one thing to be aware of; if wed known how much a cab cost to get us to the nearest food/shopping plaza, we may have gotten our rental car sooner...but then you pay the $12.95/day parking fee on top of the rental car - so it depends on how much sightseeing you want to do as to which option you go with. If we were staying in Lihue again, wed absolutely go back to this Hilton.Rating:4
A Good HotelIt was centrally located to the areas we wanted to visit. The biggest draw back is that the ocean front is not user friendly. However, the staffs demeanor more then made up for this shortcoming.Rating:5
Our new Kauai hotspotI really enjoyed the stay there. The views are awesome. The staff extremely helpful and kind.
Travelers tip on recreational activitiesBe sure to take a helicoptr tour of the Island of Kauai. Also I suggest renting a 4 wheel jeep and exploring some of the off road ares in the canyon.Rating:5
Our second visit to the HiltonWhile not as extravagant as a few hotels on the island (and much better than many others), we have found ourselves feeling very relaxed and welcome at this hotel. The location is central and makes for easy access to either end of the island, whether youre looking for a sunny day in Poipu or the lushness of Princeville. The first time we stayed here, we were worried that we would hear every plane that took off but we only heard a couple one day when we were at the pool and they sounded distant. No worries there! We have found the staff to be gracious and professional, always smiling and accommodating. Only complaint? Uncomfortable, soft bed. You really cannot go wrong here.
Travelers tip on diningWith so many wonderful places to dine in Kauai, skip the Naupaka for dinner. The food simply is not great and your money will be well spent elsewhere. The restaurant onsite is not open for lunch but you can have one of the best burgers on the island at the grill behind the main pool. If you happen to be in Hanalei at lunchtime, you can get an excellent burger for a great price at Bubbas Burgers. In Poipu, Roys cannot be beat for a memorable dinner, for romance choose Gaylords.Rating:5
A+ service and hospitalityMy wife and I just got back from our stay at the Kauai Hilton. We loved it. The room was comfortable and clean. The service was excellent from the valets to the bartender. Try the pina colada when youre there. Absolutely the best Ive tasted. The buffet was fantastic although a little spendy, worth taking your love to for a nice evening. Shutters lounge was chill...great musicians flow through nightly. Worth your hard earned dime to experience a romantic getaway with your sweetheart.
Travelers tip on getting the most out of your stayDining expenses will chomp at your wallet if youre not mindful. Plan your meals if your on a budget and enjoy the entire island.Rating:4
Nice Hotel for the Money! We only stayed one night here since we had a condo in town and just needed an extra day for a better price on our flight back to the mainland. We were pleasantly surprised at how nice the hotel and grounds were. Wish we had a couple of extra days to spend there. Wonderful pool area with view of the ocean. Food was excellent.
Travelers tip on dining"Shutters" had excellent grilled gourmet burgers.Rating:5
Very NiceHad a great time on our honeymoon here, very nice comfortable hotel with friendly and good service. Restaurant wasnt cheap, none are on the Island really, but the food was worth it when we did eat at the hotel..Rating:4
Room with a ViewVery nice hotel right on the beach (but cant swim there due to currents & coral) Well worth the price.Rating:4
Excellent locationGreat location with easy access to all areas on the island. Pool is nicely designed but cold, at least in February. Thought the $12/day charge for parking, which is new this year, represented an unjustified hidden cost. Staff is very friendly and courteous. Would definitely stay there again.Rating:4
Very nice...but not extravagantStayed here for a week in February. The Pool area is extremely nice with a couple of different pools, 2 hot tubs, plenty of lounge chairs, and a view of the ocean. The beach leaves a lot to be desired, although you can walk from it down to Lydgate beach, which is a few miles away. The rooms had been recently updated, but you could tell it was a somewhat older hotel. But by no means did this at all take away from our stay at all. Great location on the island, very close to airport, equally close to north and west sides of island. If you have a late flight out, they allow you to stay at the pool area after you have checked out, they will store your luggage, and even offer a hospitality room to shower. The store in the hotel with drinks, snacks, medicine, ect. is incredibly overpriced. Overall a very nice place to stay. I would recommend to anyone.
Travelers tip on diningThere are several very good local places to eat. Dukes, Bubbas Burgers, Olympia, just to name a few. Avoid BrickOven Pizza. very overpriced and not very good.Rating:3
Nice place, but not worth the moneyOverall, the hotel was nice. But they charge for internet access and parking, both of which are annoying and should just be included for a place like this, especially parking. The laundry is very expensive too. There was a lot of noise sometimes from a dirt track next door for ATVs and dirtbikes. It wasnt too obtrusive, but occasionally, it was annoying. The thermostat turns off and resets itself to a too-hot temperature every time you open the patio doors, intentionally, to keep people from leaving the AC on while the doors open. The hotel towels are pretty tightly managed, so that you have to trade one towel for another, or for a card you can trade for one. These nanny approaches to managing these things are somewhat understandable, but annoying nonetheless. It wasnt a bad place, but I expected a little more for the cost-per-night.
Travelers tip on saving a few bucksFind the places that Hawaiians eat at and youll get better food at a better deal.Rating:5
garden islandi know some day ill look back and know that the two weeks i spent at the kauai hilton were some of the happiest days of my life
Travelers tip on saving a few bucksworry about money later, dont let the price stop you from doing the things you want
