nearby public transportation, san diego zoo, and balboa park - something for everyone!. shuttle to the harbor for one of the many harbor cruises available - tour the midway, dine in one of fine restaurants at the harbor. I would stay there again and would recommend it to anyone who is visiting the area. the staff was very friendly and helpful any hour of the day. the shuttle was prompt and saved us from renting a car for the brief amount of time we were there.Great hotel in a great city this hotel (and its staff )was a very pleasant experience on a recent trip to san diego.

Highly recommend Petco Park, the bleacher seats are pretty fun!. Other than that, we would totally go back! Travelers tip on local attractions Petco Park is a mile from this hotel, we walked right down the road to it. The ramp is really small and it’s hard to get vehicles in and out. The only small issue we had was the parking. The pool is small, but no one seemed to use it all. During the weekday evenings they had happy hour out in the lounge and that was a lot of fun as well. The breakfast was really good and had a few different choices. Our room was nice and always clean.Nice and cozy This hotel was very nice, recently remodled.

Would def go back the staff was more than nice and willing to do anything they could to make our stay more enjoyable!.

. We would be pleased to stay there again. The location is good for visiting the sites of San Diego. The staff was pleasant and helpful.Nice location The hotel was very comfortable.

. Very clean, great breakfast and really good service! Travelers tip on saving a few bucks Great complimentary breakfast. Bathroom a little small and air conditioning not the greatest.Older building, nice redo Worked out fine for us.

. Travelers tip on saving a few bucks Great free breakfast way beyond typical continental fare. We loved San Diego, it was our first time there. We’d definitely stay there again. The remainder of our stay was quite and peaceful. Had a small team of kids the first night and their running up and down the hall could be heard (and felt) in our room. The bartender the first night was very friendly. She gave off a vibe that she didn’t want to be there. We like to walk but that last block or two walk is a killer! The only negative we can say about the hotel was a very snotty bartender we experienced during the free drinks. The hotel is on the top of what seems to be the only hill in town. We went to the SD Zoo and called for a pick-up but the shuttle was not able to pick us up so they simply told us to get a cab and they would re-imburse which we did. Although the shuttle appears to be sub-contracted to another company we used it several times to get around and found the drivers to be very kind, helpful and accomodating. The free shuttle was also greatly appreciated. The free beer and wine in the afternoons was a pleasant surprise. The breakfast can’t be beat--best complimentary we’ve ever seen.Would stay here again My wife and I stayed here for a leisure trip in mid-August 2009 and stayed 5 nights.

. Very convenient.EXCELLENT! BEST service, and its near the train system.

. Travelers tip on dining Good food at nearby SoleLuna and Indigo. Great value in my opinion. Join the Priority Club for free and get complimentary beer and wine on M-TH evenings and free use of in-room safe. I found the bed and pillows comfortable. The free breakfast had a nice variety. The shuttle was so convenient. The front desk was very friendly and helpful.Very Helpful Staff I thoroughly enjoyed my four night stay.

. Close walking distance to Gas Lamp District where there’s great shopping! Travelers tip on dining There’s a restaurant adjacent to hotel, Sole Luna Cafe, that has great food, desserts reasonably priced. We will definitely stay at the Holiday Inn Express the next time we visit San Diego. My daughter looked forward to the baked cookies the hotel provided every evening at 8:00 pm.Great place to lodge The staff was very friendly and informational.

. Not many amenities in the hotel though. Maid service was very polite and efficient. Bathrooms were the smallest I’ve ever seen in a hotel.Just okay, Hotel staff was very friendly and helpful.

. Convenient location to attractions.Nice Stay Service was excellent and the staffs were very helpful and kind.

. The lot is under the hotel with very tight turns so big cars/vans will have a bit of a problem. We drove so we had to pay for parking. Horton Plaza/Gas Lamp district is a 10 minute walk as is Little Italy.Very convenient to Downtown This hotel is very convenient to the downtown area.

. The hotel also provides a shuttle service to get where you need to. Travelers tip on nightlife Its very close to all the bars and central "nightlife" attractions. The beds were very spacious and there was a lot of room for luggage. The two beds were hidden away behind the living area and the bathroom which provided a sense of privacy. To my surprise there was a "living" area type of space with two couches, one of which is a sofa bed.SURPRISE! Huge Room I expected a simple small room with two beds but as I walk in, I dont see any beds.

A good experience overall!!. Really gtreat customer service - they took care of our needs in record time and were very pleasant about it. The shuttle bus does not run before 5 in the mroning of after 10 at night so be prepared to take other transportation but they were nice and called for us a taxi the morning we left. The hotel is in a good location - you do have to walk up a hill to get to it but getting everywhere from it was no problem. The waiting was a little long at the 8:30am time but I think it was the set up line for the breakfast but it did not take that long to get through the line and to eat your brekfast. The free hot breakfast was really great and kept filled for the entire breakfast time. Once in the room there was a problem with the drainage in the bathroom but they came and worked for a few hours and got it fixed - everyone was so helpful and pleasant. She was so pleasant and helpful - we moved within the hour.Great Customer Service Somehow in the reserving of the room I thought you could get a rollaway bed but that was not the case once we got to the hotel but on the next morning a wonderful woman there at the desk mioved us into a room with a sofa bed.

. The breakfast had many healthy choices in addition to the yummy cinnamon rolls! I would choose this hotel again when visiting San Diego.A great place! Very impressed with this hotel - it had great service and the location was perfect for exploring downtown San Diego.

. There is also a Children’s Museum, Gaslamp district, USS Midway Museum and a trolly that will take you to Coronado Island from downtown. My 7 yr old daughter and I walked 1 mile to the 5 level mall one day. It was great food for the price and their house red wine comes in a unique bottle to take home or write on to hang around the restaurant. FILIPPIS PIZZA has an entrance at the back of a deli. Travelers tip on getting the most out of your stay Within walking distance - Little Italy is a few blocks away and has so much character. Overall, we got a great deal. Free shuttle to the airport, just schedule it with the front desk the day before. We just had to call down to the front desk to get a code. Free internet in the room. rolls, yogurt, and lots of cold "to-go" items to just take and get started with your day. Breakfast was exceptional - hot cereal, eggs, fruit, an assortment of breads, hot cinn. The rooms are standard but the bathrooms are updated with wider shower rods for more space. We were lucky that we checked in Saturday afternoon, parked on the street for a couple of hours and then Sat night and Sunday were free parking on the street. If you have a car, you will have to pay for parking at the garage that’s next door. The outdoor pool is very tiny and they don’t have a hot tub but we were there in June and the water temp was nice for the weather outside. The staff was exceptionally pleasant and helpful.Downtown Fun It was a great location and in walking distance to many attractions.

. A good hotel with an excellent staff and good location.Would stay there again.

. hotel charges $16/day for parking in the garage. parking is terrible downtown too, esp on the weekend. only a few downtown - 10-15 min walk. had a hard time finding family friendly restaurant for a toddler. only complaint is that there aren’t any close restaurants. would definitely stay here again. Room was recently updated.Great Hotel Great hotel and service.

. I would rate it above other hotels in this price category.Great hotel for the money Hotel was clean, staff was friendly, and everything was as it was supposed to be.

. Breakfast, free connection to internet in rooms, very helpfull staff. Free shuttle to and from airport, Zoo Balboa Park and ferry terminal was great. Worth the price and more.Pleasant stay Good value for money.

. Great customer service and the hotel was beautiful as well! I feel like it was a really good value. We had lots of questions for the front desk attendant, and she was always very patient and willing to help.Excellent Service Our stay was great.

. San Diego is definitely the place to vacation. Coronado Island is beautiful, and so close. Travelers tip on local attractions The zoo, the zoo, the zoo. They also provided us a voucher for the cab ride to the airport. After morning check out, they secured our luggage, and allowed us to use the lobby later in the day to wait for our red eye back east.Best Care Extremely pleasant and helpful staff.

. The place were you switch to the bus is at Old Town so plan on stopping and looking around while you are there. It took about 45 minutes. Travelers tip on local attractions We had planned on going to the Wild Animal Park but once we got to San Diego we were advised that it would take TWO HOURS on public transportation! Getting to Sea World on public transport was fine: one train and one bus. Sign up for the shuttle the night before and you are ready to go! The cookies and milk at 8 pm were a nice touch too.Free shuttle The free shuttle was great! Even though the hotel is near the zoo, it is hard to walk there because of highways.

. Would choose the hotel again. Liked the atmosphere. The other hotel guests were nice. The staff was wonderful.Would recommend this hotel to my best friends! I was glad to stay in this hotel.

. There was also a free happy hour on (I think) Monday-Thursday with beer and wine. Breakfast, free connection to internet in rooms, and 2 computers in the lobby. A free shuttle to and from airport, Balboa Park, and the ferry terminal.Good value for money For the price, it was good value for money.
