Reviews

. Room was very pleasant and clean. Short walk to trolley station. Quiet but close enough to Gaslamp and Little Italy.Great hotel for the price Great location with view of the water.

. Travelers tip on dining Little Italy is within walking distance, a lot of fantastic restaurants. The Cruise Ship Terminal is just across the street.Great Location If you are traveling to San Diego to travel on a Cruise Ship, this hotel is perfect.

We used our laptop to look up routes and plan our trip, but if you dont have one with you, there are 2 computers in the main lobby that you can look up and print things!. We did this twice and used it to go to places that were a little farther than we would like to walk. Travelers tip on getting the most out of your stay For $5/day you can get a transit pass that will give you unlimited access to the trams and buses. Would definitely stay here again. Housekeeping and maintenance staff were very nice and helpful. Nice views and close to lots of different places to shop, eat, and take in the sights. Nothing spectacular but it was a great room for the price.Nice place to stay My husband and I stayed recently and were very satisfied with this hotel.

. Then rode up to Mission Beach and PB, it was an easy ride and you get to see a lot on the way. Travelers tip on recreational activities I rented a bike from a bike shop right by my hotel and rode up to OB and hung out for a while. Kinda weird. Nodody called to check up on this either. Stayed on for about 2 mins and then shut itself off. Oh and can’t forget about the smoke alarm going off at about midnight for no reason at all. The beds could’ve been more comfortable and they forgot to make up the room on the first morning there but i got a great deal so i can’t complain. The only thing that really bothered me was the train blowing their horn all the time, it gets a little old after a while. I had a balcony with a view of the city, which was great. It is a great location and everything is easily accessible.I would go back I would definitely stay at Holiday Inn on the Bay again.

. Also, the Fish Market is a great place to eat and you will love the statues along the way. It was a lot of fun. I suggest you take a pedicab into the gas lamp district. You can get inexpensive tickets on the internet. It was a lot of fun. If the Padres are playing, go to a game. Seaport Village is great and so is the USS Midway. It was relaxing and you saw a lot. one and then went back the next day and did it again with some friends. We took the 2 hr. Travelers tip on local attractions Be sure to take the harbor cruise. I would stay there again. We took the train or pedicabs or walked. We didn’t have to rent a car. It was centrally located. We found the location of the hotel wonderful. The station is just one block in back of the hotel. You take bus number 8 back and then the trolley back to the hotel. It takes you right there. You take the red trolley train to Old Town then get on bus number 9. You can take public transportation. By the way. We were told "You could, but you would have to ride with ’those locals’. Later we asked if we could take public transportation to Sea World." She was very condescending. How can mexican food be different. I’m sure they are all alike. The response was " I don’t eat mexican food. We asked for a recommendation as to where to eat in Old Town. The only problem was every time we asked for help from the concierge we felt like we got poor advise. We asked for more shampoo and an additional luggage stand and they brought them right up. The people servicing our room were very friendly and helpful. The room was very clean. It was quiet at night. You could see the USS Midway and part of the bay out our window. Even though we had a "city scape" view, it was at the end of the hall and so it was really more of a "bay view".Great Hotel-Poor Concierge We loved our hotel stay.

. I recommend it. I will not include again breakfast since there are other options very close to the hotel. The service at the hotel was very good.Very convenient!!! It was very convenient staying at Holiday Inn San Diego on the Bay since we use the water transportation a lot to go to Coronado beach.

Good location Good view, located in a excelent area.

.Can’t wait to go back Very nice, closed to attraction, good price, good food, trolly and bus services are very close.

. No advantage to this location. Both are on water with walking distance restaurants. They are less than 5 minutes apart by car. I would not stay again because for the same room I can stay at Holiday Inn - Bayside and get parking ($22/day here at On The Bay) for free. I had a nice stay and staff were nice.Nice, but same everything for less money, 5 minutes away.

. We would not stay in this hotel again. There was no ventilation fan in the bathroom. There was not a refrigerator or microwave in our room, which is something standard for most hotels now.Less than optimal stay Parking for this hotel was extra, something we did not know about until after we had booked this hotel.

. Travelers tip Rent a car. We love San Diego and would stay there again. Parking a little expensive, but it sure was nice to have a rental car and to be able to go when you want. The zoo was great. We took several enjoyable rides up the coast to the beaches in the area. Dinner menu did not have much of a selection for my husband but was also reasonable. Breakfast was very good and reasonable. Ate breakfast while sitting outside of the restaurant located at the hotel every am.Love San Diego Nice bay view.

. Pool is small and best to swim in middle of the day otherwise its gets shaded and cold in the afternoon. Otherwise you could park in the hotel parking lot for $22 a day.Hotel was ok but not aware about parking cost Parking available on the streets with meter parking with two hour limit.

. We will go back again. The location makes it easy to get around and it has good views. We stayed there several years ago and liked it, so we were happy to go back again.Great location, will go back.

. On the plus side, the entire hotel staff, from front desk to restaurant to bar, was very nice. It’s not what I’d call dirty, but not sparkling clean either.very dated look... It is what I’d call "mature" or "worn". The view of the Bay is very nice, however the motel itself is below average. Nice enough if you’re used to an average hotel.the view is great, the motel is below average...It’s ok.

. It’s a first come first served, you’ll put your name on the list. They do not take reservations. Open for lunch from 11:30 to 3 and for dinner from 5:30 to 10. Expect it to be crowded and expect a line. The food is constiently good and they have great specials (lunch only). Travelers tip on dining If you get a chance go to Sushi Deli at Second and Broadway next to the Spreckles Theatre. I would stay here again, train whistles and all. All in all, the hotel was nice, the staff friendly and accomodating. For those facing the downtown side you will get the full urban experience, a great view of downtown and train whistles, the Amtrak station is two blocks away and the line is a joint use venture with the trolley, Amtrak and freight. It is within walking distance of all downtown activities, if you don’t mind walking but also close to bus, trolley and train access. It sits directly across from the bay, the maritime museum and the cruise ship terminal.Holiday Inn on the Bay This hotel will give you a truly urban feel.

Recommended. The harbor view rooms would have been perfect. It’s close to all the attractions and have good on location places to grab a bit.Excellent Great place to stay if you are visiting San Diego.

.Good location but sagging mattresses Locatin was excellent, pool was nice, phones in the room did not work, sheets were very nice & clean but mattresses were sagging.

Travelers tip on local attractions you are right by the USS MIDWAY, as well as old ships and cruise lines.Best htel by the bay in san diego the place was in great shape rooms were great, except the train that went by at night, other wise a great place to stay by the bay and seeing the lights at night.

. Travelers tip on saving a few bucks If you are looking for a place likely to have a decent price, is located well, and don’t have a back that objects to the mattress, this is an ok place to stay. We booked a pool view room and got a rooftop view room, and a sorry, we already filled those rooms up response. The mattress, however, was uncomfortable. It is clean, convenient and affordable.OK, Not Great The hotel is fine, nothing more.

. Also, the adjoining restaurant is very nice with good food and service. The view is terrific and the location perfect -- walking distance to many fun and interesting attractions in San Diego.Great location Great place for a quick get-away.

Travelers tip on dining The restaurant next door to the hotel is very expensive and the food is not that great!. Close to the airport. It was an ok stay nothing to brag about. And if you want more than one towel you have to ask. They don’t do a good job on cleaning the rooms when you stay 4 days they just make up the bed. My bed had hair in it. The hotel does not look that great from the outside but the entry way is nice.It might be near the water but looks are deceiving.

. Would stay again in a heartbeat. Also a great view of the Bay and easy access to the ferry to Coronado. The only time we needed to rent a car was for our trip to La Jolla and the Wild Animal Park. It is a short cab ride from many San Diego attractions. It is within walking distance of downtown shopping and restaurants.Perfect Location This hotel is in the absolute best location.

. Our card keys had to be reswiped three times and we had to pay for parking each day. Room was very small, facility seemed old and the train going by the hotel kept us awake each night. Not impressed While the hotel was clean, it wasn’t very nice.

.we had agreat time.beautiful views especially at night. excellent concierge service very helpful.closea to everything. would stay there again in a heartbeat .Great value hotel absolutely excellent hotel for the money.

.Good Transportation Service To and from the local airport.
