very impressedwas very pleased with the service. Room was clean ,was especially impressed with the cleanliness of the bathroom.would definately stay here again.Rating:4
Other hotels looked betterThe overall experiance was fine but it was an outdated hotel. I thought I was getting a continental breakfast but what it meant was they had a restaurant downstairs where you would have to pay. It was farther away from downtown than I thought. We were hoping to walk everywhere. If you are just passing through it is a great place to stay but if you looking to be close to the happening areas I would choose another.Rating:2
Advertised WiFi did not workI picked the hotel because it advertised "W-Fi" in the room. The first night I tried getting my e-mail it didnt work (weak signal). I reported the weak signal condition to the front staff who said theyd get on the problem. In the 3 nights I stayed there, it was never resolved. There was no explanation. Unless they can backup their advertisement of "WiFi" in the rooms, Ill pass next time.Rating:3
Quit if you are in the building off to the EastThis is an older hotel that has been remodeled in lots of areas. The building to the East was pretty quite and the room was clean and comfy.Rating:4
moldy showerOverall this hotel was fair-good value. Only housekeeping could be a bit more diligent. One hand towel had some nasty gunk on it. Hopefully that is an isolated incident. But the shower had a lot of mold. If housekeeping used a product like tilex or equivilent each time there was mold visible this problem could be easilt addressed.Rating:1
Not too cleanThere are other hotels nearby that are cleaner and better place to stay. Also similar price. This place was one of the saddest places we ever stayed in. Sorry Howard Johnson, not impressed.Rating:3
Clean & ComfortableI found the room clean and comfortable. I was easily able to get the rest I needed. However, On-Demand movies were unavailable. As well as the restaurant/lounge was closed during posted open hours. Not to worry, I just took my entertainment (and dollars) elsewhere.Rating:4
Ho Jo - YakimaHotel was older, but in good condition. Staff was friendly and helpful.
Travelers tip on diningDine at Melange, it was great.Rating:4
No frills, but clean and comfyWe had a great stay. We were able to get a room that overlooked the courtyard so it was nice and quiet. We were able to walk to the downtown area in the evening for dinner and drinks which was nice. My only negative comment would be that the "hot tub" was lukewarm at best and the pool was freezing so we didnt find them very inviting, but we were able to enjoy sitting in the sunshine by the pool which was nice.Rating:2
Not impressedHave stayed here many times before, but it now looks like they are no longer maintaining as they have in the past. No longer includes breakfast.
Travelers tip on diningMiners drive in is best food in town. Onion rings are great. All kinds of fast foods not just Hamburgers.Rating:4
Good convenient hotelThis is a good clean hotel to stay in in Yakima. Had a great time.Rating:1
One time is enoughWe were given a room that had not been cleaned. The common area was in need of repair. Part of our stay was a breakfast included. It was a selected list, and they were out of some items. We were highly disappoint with this hotel for the "great" priceRating:2
Not impressedFor the price paid through Expedia, this hotel had no food. The restuarant and bar were closed. Cigarette smoke from outside waffled through the hotels entrance and into the hallways. Dont stay here during the winter monthsRating:4
Its an OK Hotel ... Retaurant food was good, needs refurbishThere arent many hotels to choose from in Yakima. The hotel is definetly in need of a refurbish, there is a lot of wear and tear visible. It has some amenities and the food was good at the restaurant... I woud say its just OKRating:3
Average to less than averageThe pool and jacuzzi were off. If it is advertised as having them, then they should work.Rating:4
Surpised at how nice rooms were with 4 pillows on nice beds; excellent service in Rest; great coffeeWhen I checked in I was told that Expedia cancelled my reservation due to overbooking. I was very surprised. Sarah, at Expedia, set the hotel straight. She was great!!!! calm and effecient and had everything cleared up in 15 min. Again, we were surprised at how nice hotel was and plan to go back next summer for a weekend retreat. Very nice pool for grandma and 4 year old.
Travelers tipI grew up in Yakima Valley. I was there for class reunion. We went to Wal-Mart and Target; I would not travel to Yakima to shop. Great for softball, golf, swimming etc.Rating:4
Poor continental breakfastCleanliness was good, the room was nice, and the pool area was excellent, but the free continental breakfast was about the worst Ive ever had. (Two pieces of toast and mediocre coffee.)Rating:3
Doesnt merit the Expedia 3-Star RatingThis is an older revamped hotel. Its okay, but the mattress had a depression and the doors to the TV hutch wouldnt stay open. Price and value are fine for a quick overnight stay. Resturant is dark and depressing--eat in the bar.Rating:3
My non smoking room smelled like the smokers area where I workBureau was missing 3 handles. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was clean. Elevator made you wonder if it would make it to the 3rd floor where my room was located.Rating:3
Lower Your Expectations...and It Isnt BadI guess its been a while since I stayed at a HoJos, because I was expecting a better quality hotel. The price was good, which probably should have been an indicator, but I wasnt expecting the tired appearance...or general apathy of the staff. The common areas need an update (which the hotel appears to be in the middle of from the shipping container in the back parking lot...although it has a somewhat permanent [painted to match the building] look to it); the pool is under construction; and the room plumbing fixtures are 70s vintage and not in good condition. The location is convenient to downtown though. And generally the hotel isnt horrible, just not up to expectations...and not a great deal, even at the Expedia price.
Travelers tip on getting the most out of your stayIf you book through Expedia and get the package with breakfast, be sure to ask for the vouchers and for serving hours when you check in, as you wont get them otherwise. There was no hotel directory in the room to provide ANY information. When I asked later at the front desk, I was told we didnt get breakfast with our room rate and that they didnt have any hotel information available.
