Good option!Nice hotel a few blocks from Waikiki Beach, staff were friendly and they also have a nice swimming pool, sauna, laundry and mini market inside the hoteel. The only thing that they could offer for free for the guests would be free parking lot...Is really hard to find free parking spots in Waikiki and the hotel charge too much to park inside. Other than that the rooms are nice and clean.Rating:4
Good for the familyNice hotel in the heart of Waikiki, easy walk to nice restaurants, the beach, shopping. Our second stay, and the staff recognized us at check in. Nice facilities: pool, spa, sauna, laundry room, on-site convenience store. One bedroom has nice balcony off the bedroom, and twin beds/couches in the living. Kitchen is adequate, and helped keep the total vacation cost reasonable with meals in our room. Small dining area in main living space. The "canal" view is better than the city view.Rating:5
Hawaii VacayIsland Colony was in an excellent location. Close to the International Market Place, Waikiki Beach, and nightlife at the Waikiki Trade Center. The staff and housekeeping were extrememly helpful. The rooms were comfortable, not top of the line, but a nice place to stay at a good price. The pool area is nice and the hotel has a convenient mini mart on the 6th floor. The kitchen was great and our overall experience at the Island Colony was a good one. If your looking for good price stay here.Rating:4
Superb HotelIt was our familys 1st trip to Hawaii and we really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. It is close to everything, Waikiki Beach, clubs, stores, etc..The staff are nice & helpful except for 1 lady staff at the parking garage. We were at the 40th floor, so it has a great city view. It has a complete kitchen so you can cook if you dont want to eat out.
Travelers tip on shoppingIt is good to shop at International Market close to closing time. Vendors will cut the price way way down. Theres also one at Stadium that somebody mentioned to me, but we ran out of time. There are also good restaurants at International Market.Rating:2
Hot, uncomfortable beds, rotting cupboardsWe only stayed one night, in town to visit U of H before going on to another island. We payed significantly less than most other properties for this room, so we werent expecting much more than we got. The room did come with a fridge, microwave and coffee maker. There was a pool, but it was closed by the time we arrived. The beds were awful - hard mattress on a plywood platform. There was a tiny air conditioner that did little to cool the room, and no way to create a cross breeze without leaving the door to the hallway open. There were wooden cupboards around the sink, but the wood was rotten and several doors were missing. In total, we just needed a place to sleep, but didnt really get a good sleep.Rating:5
Great Value, Excellant customer service! My family and I had a great experience here! The value for our money was exceptional. The staff was not only helpful but quick to see to any of our needs. The housekeeping staff was wonderful, they took care of our requests with courtesy and a smile. Thank-you for a great time!Rating:5
Good valueThis is a great hotel for people on a budget(me)! It is really close to everything and the room was nicely sized including an adequate kitchen that was stocked with dishes. The staff was really nice and helpful (kept our bags until 7:30 p.m.) The air didnt get as cool as I like (70)but other people in my party were cold. This is not a resort -- dont expect to be pampered-NO bellman for luggage, no room service (unless you count pizza delivery), the maid has to have the room cleaned by 5, and you are helped when you ask for it. Their is on sight security 24 hours but I really didnt see a need for it. However, it offers everything you need -- small convient store where the soda was less than a dollar, washers, dryers, and a pool. Id stay there again.
Travelers tip on diningI was worried about the cost of dining out! However in Waikiki their are dining facilities for every price point (Major chains (McDs, Dennys, PF Changs to Family owned). The best priced meal is full breakfast for less than $4. You can pick surf and turf for dinner for under $15. They have several mall like food courts in which a meal can be picked up for less than $10. This gave us the opportunity to eat cheap and splurge at nicer resturants.Rating:4
recommend this hotelIt is a good place to stay with this reasonable price.Rating:2
Spend the extra few bucksThe beds were old and hard to sleep in, neither the hair dryer nor the remote control were working, the bathroom door got stuck, and to top it off, several "bugs" were seen. The room smelled like cigarette smoke even though we got a non-smoking room. While it is only 2 blocks away from the beach, theyre two long blocks. The staff were really friendly.Rating:3
this hotel need update newbed and clean bed cover.I was not very pleased due to not provide any coffee in the morning , the bed are very old and bed cover was found a dirty bloodstain on it. but hotel peoples are very friendly. swimming pool are not working during the stay.Rating:4
Reasonable and close enough to WaikikiIt is a smokable hotel and for me that was important. The cost was nominal a secondary reason of importance. Not that far from Waikiki. Not a 4 or 5 star however, adequate. Will use again.Rating:4
We will stay again!Hotel Is preety good and I would stay there again.Rating:5
Good valueWe were not expecting a 5 star setting. This place is best characterized by the personel. They are excellent people who try very hard to make things comfortable and more than make up for whatever shortcomings you may encounter.
Travelers tip on getting the most out of your stayPlan to see the Maunawili jungle...it is as good or better than any jungle in the US. Go to the North shore for great shrimp and the West coast for snorkeling or diving. Hanamu Bay was a huge disappointment. Too much time spent waiting in the Q and then you wait for a mandatory movie. Better to save your money and explore on your own,Rating:4
Great hotelIt s a great hotel with wonderfull location and beutifull people. I recomend the hotel.Rating:5
Extremely good value.I stayed at this hotel for five nights and they were very helpful in extending my stay an extra night - even after Id lost my debit card!Rating:4
Nice price lvl. - Student friendlyThe hotel was near one of the main streets in Wakiki and there was a lot of places to go out at night. The balcony gave a beautiful view of the river bank and the mountains (we had city view)
Travelers tip on nightlifeVisit Senor FroggRating:3
good if you need a room for a night or twoIt was over a nice place. The registration clerk was friendly and helpful. However, the bathroom was tiny and not very clean and the kitchenette was not very clean either.Rating:4
Overall okayWe got a gross room the first night, broken AC, bugs in the bed, hard bed, very stinky because it was next door to the trash. Said they had no extra rooms, but the next day, they moved us up to a cleaner room with a nicer view. Overall, it was okay. Nice to have a fridge and microwave. Didnt spend much time in the room. Close to the International Market place and the beach.
Travelers tip on local attractionsGo to the Polynesian Cultural Center. Drive around the island. If you like pineapple, the Dole whip is delicious. Enjoyed the activities with the power pass.Rating:1
worst hotel I have even been inbad hotel service, smelly room, and even found bugs on the bed. book the room for four night, but only stay there for three night.Rating:4
Best Deal on WaikikiThis was the 4th time Ive stayed at Island Colony. It is a great hotel for the price. Expedia has a better deal than going to Aqua resorts.
Travelers tip on getting the most out of your stayThe upper floors are bestRating:4
Nice short stayMy fiance was coming into town and this place was a nice affordable get away that was close to everything in WaikikiRating:5
Blessing in Disguise...We booked another hotel in Waikiki, where we were treated horribly because we were young adults. They didnt even let a friend come up to the room to use a restroom, I would have to pay an extra $30 for that extra head. SO we check-out from that hotel. Called expedia. And booked the AQUA ISLANDS COLONY. The best hotel Ive stayed at. Security is amazing, the staff was generous, the rooms were clean, the view of the room was absolutely amazing. I wished we stayed here from the beginning of our stay in Waikiki. Definitely staying there again! THANKS AQUA!Rating:4
Good deal for the priceThis hotel is a good deal for the price, my room had a kitchenet, restroom with bathtub, dining area. This hotel could use a makeover its a bit worn down.
Travelers tip on saving a few bucksthis is a fiar hotel for the priceRating:4
NEIGHBORS VERY LOUD HOTEL NOT AIR CONDITIONEDWE UPGRADED TO A (1) BEDROOM STUDIO. THERE IS NO AIR CONDITIONING IN THE ROOM EXCEPT FOR THE BEDROOM WHICH WAS VERY INSUFFICIENT FOR THE REST OF THE SUITE. TO GET SOME COMFORT AT NIGHT WE OPENED THE WINDOWS, BUT THE NOISE FROM THE STREET WAS UNBEARABLE. PEOPLE SCREAMING, MOTORCYCLES ROARING AND EMERGENCY VEHICLES WAILING UNTIL 4:00 AM.Rating:5
This hotel went WAY above our expectationsI have to say that I wasnt sure what to expect from The Aqua Island Colony, but the first words out of the desk clerks mouth set the mood - "We have updated both of your rooms at no charge." We went expecting a small room, which would have been fine as we were only planning on using the rooms for sleeping - instead, we were treated to a high rise apartment that was immaculate and had not only a city view, but a mountain view as well as an ocean view. The only view we hat to walk around the corner to see was Diamond Head. The staff was curtious, rooms were maintained daily, the pool and hot tub were sparkling, and tghe hotel is located within walking distance of anything and everything you would ever need. We will definitely stay here on our next trip to Oahu.
