Mostly impressedWe loved most of it but we didnt expect the price of the food/restaurants on the actual resort to be so expensive when the food wasnt really even that great. The view was amazing it was so pretty. The pool was really cool and warm. Its right next to the ocean, super easy access to it. There was this cool koi fish pond and some other wildlife just right there in the middle of the resort, its pretty neat. There are roosters everywhere which can be annoying, but I personally thought they were so cute and added to the uniqueness of Hawaii and this resort.
Travelers tip on getting the most out of your stayWEAR SUNSCREEN IF YOU BURN. The worst thing you want to do is go out into the ocean your first day and not wear sunscreen. The rest of your week will be very difficult for you and anyone else youre with... if you burn like we did. We still had fun but... it would have been a lot more fun and relaxing if we had just put some stinking sun block on!Rating:4
Great honeymoon destinationNice hotel. Great location, close to the airport and central to the island.Rating:5
Great Vacation StayWe loved the hotel. We had the partial ocean view and the complete pool view. The room decor, service and the hotel staff was excellent. if you are looking to go to Kauai.. this hotel is a must stay.
Travelers tip on saving a few bucksCarry some ready to eat food to save money.Rating:5
Great HotelThis hotel is the best! We stayed here for our honeymoon and we were extremely impressed. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained. The pool is amazing. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We couldnt have asked for anything better.Rating:5
Cant wait to go backI have to say that is this a first class hotel a real Gem. The staff very friendly beautiful grounds well kept and very clean. I have been telling everyone back home if they get a chance to go to Kauai, they need to stay at the Marriott Beach Club in Lihue.
Travelers tip on nightlifeIf your looking for nightlife, its not on this island.Rating:5
Very beautiful and comfortableThis hotel has beautiful grounds and an amazing pool area. We unfortunately were there during their renovation and so there was jackhammering at the pool area for two of the six days we were there and one of the restaurants was closed. They did upgrade us to a pool view room that was newly renovated and it was very comfortable. We had a great view of the pool and the ocean. The staff were very nice and accomodating. I would like to return to see it after their renovation is completed.
Travelers tip on recreational activitiesThe location of this hotel is great for traveling north or south to explore the many beaches available on Kauai. The farthest beach was an hour north and we got to Poipu Beach in about 20 minutes. We went on Captain Andys Sunset Cruise along the Napali Coast and it was beautiful. We would recomment it highly.Rating:5
Would love to go back!My husband and I went to the Kauai Marriott Resort and Beach Club for our honeymoon. We stayed in a garden view room and the view was beautiful. We could see not only the gardens of the resort, but also the beach and mountains surrounding the resort. The grounds were beautifully kept. They were renovating the pool area when we were there, but it was not really a problem (they worked in the morning and stayed out of the way of the resort guests). The room was nice and the bed was really comfortable. We really enjoyed our stay here and would love to return. We both felt that we made the perfect choice in deciding on the Kauai Marriott. Also, there were several good restaurants in walking distance. We ate at Dukes 3 times during our stay and found the food to be good each time. Overall, this is a great place to stay on Kauai!
Travelers tip on recreational activitiesWe really enjoyed the Outfitters ziplining tour. It was much better than some of the others that just zipline in an open field. Also, I would definitely recommend taking the Blue Dolphin Na Pali coast tour (unless you are prone to sea sickness). The crew with the Blue Dolphin were wonderful and the luau-style dinner that they provide was excellent.Rating:4
Gorgeous PoolThe pool is amazing. It huge and beautiful!! Great place to stay while working on your tan.Rating:3
Rennovations - too much noiseWe arrived on a Sunday and the hotel was peaceful. Woke up Monday early and laid on the beach until 9am, at which time construction started. Jack hammers, drilling and smashing all over the place. Went back to our room and they were rennovating upstairs. Our room was vibrating and the noise was awfull. Luckily we were staying only one night. I felt bad for the guests that were there all week. Doesnt look like the project will be done anytime soon.
Travelers tip on diningWe did love Dukes restauraunt and went back a few times. The food was very good and reasonable. I dont think we ever paid more than $60 w/ drinks at any of the Kauai restauraunts. Kauai Pasta is fresh pasta and a great price. If you take Rice Street to the left out of the resort and go for a few miles up the hill there is a mall and a bakery in the back next to the grocery store. Costco is in location as well.Rating:2
Very DisappointedMy family and I were really looking forward to our stay here. Unfortunately, the room we were given had not been cleaned properly. We were given a second room very quickly. However, this was an adjoining room. The other room had several unsupervised children who were extremely noisy. We did not get a lot of sleep in spite of requests to keep the noise down and calls to hotel security. The hotel refused to remedy this even though we offered to pay for a room upgrade. Overall, we were not happy with the service and given problems that I have had with Marriott in the past I will not be returning to a Marriott any time soon.Rating:2
Kauai MarriottTo be fair, this hotel was undergoing a lot of repairs and maintenance. But, the rooms were not updated, the hotel was noisy, kids were unsupervised in the pool area (spitting, jumping in) and the noise was ridiculous considering you were in a place that was supposed to be so relaxing. We had to stay one night and then we left.
Travelers tipBefore you book here (the beach and pools seemed nice) make sure renovations are complete. Also, off season may mean less kids.Rating:4
marriot Beach resortThis hotel had everything including roosters that crowed every morning at 5;00 am to wake you up.Rating:5
Good all rounderWe had a great week at this hotel, the pool and facilities were all fantastic. We had our 2 year old daughter with us and found the hotel to be very family friendly and welcoming.Rating:2
Kauai Marriott Resort and Beach ClubThe pool area is great. The hotel is mainly catered for couples/families. The spa is good, but expensive. The garden rooms are ok.

Not bad, but needs some upgradesThis was our 2nd time staying at the Kauai Marriott, and unfortunately, just like the island itself, it isnt quite as good as it used to be. The hotel grounds are still very attractive and overall it is certainly an adequate place to stay, but the building and the rooms are in need of a renovation. A few coats of paint and some spackle here and there wouldnt hurt. We noticed several cracks on the wall and paint was peeling from the bathroom door. The balcony is also starting to look very weathered and dated. And even though we didnt go to Kauai to watch TV, it would be nice if theyd replace that antique sitting in the entertainment unit with something that doesnt look like it came straight out of the 70s. Certainly not the worst place weve ever stayed but on the flip side not the best either. Oh, and one more thing... if you like sushi- avoid the bar above the pool area at all costs. Its subpar, to say the least.
Travelers tip on saving a few bucksDo yourself a favor- if youre going to eat breakfast everyday at the hotels "Kukui" restaurant youre better off getting a couple of side orders rather than one of their overpriced omelets. May also want to make a few trips to the local ABC store to stock up on water and snacks.Rating:5
On the expensive side but GREAT hotel and GREAT location!!We loved our trip to Kauai and the Marriott put us right in the middle of the island so it was easy to take seperate day trips to the north and south shores. absolutely amazing. The grounds at the marriott are breathtaking and the beach is great for an easy day of relaxing although there is so much to do on kauai I say get out and play.
Travelers tip on saving a few bucksStock up on groceries at the local walmart. Hotel food is ridiculously expensive and only average quality. Also Kauai pasta is delicious as is Fish express. Highly recommendRating:5
Kauais best hotel! This was our first real vacation in quite a while, and we felt very pampered. All we wanted was some R&R, and this was the perfect spot for just that. The bonus was being able to watch the various cruise ships come and go!
Travelers tip on shoppingBe sure and check in with the concierge to find out where the non tourist shopping is.Rating:4
Beautiful resort. The grounds were beautiful. Nice shops. Location is very convenient. Experienced absolutely NO airport noise. Thought that it was funny that there were no tissues in the room. Watch out for police speed traps in the area in zones of 25 MPH!
Travelers tip on recreational activitiesMake a trip to the national wildlife preserve at the lighthouse on the east side of the island. We saw whales and dolphins there along with beautiful scenery.Rating:4
Kauai was awesome! The Kauai Marriott Resort is conveniently located halfway between the north shore and Waimea Canyon. The resort offers several great things to do on site or around Lihue, but I would say the resorts location on the island is its greatest asset.
Travelers tip on diningThe Ahi Tuna at Dukes Canoe Club is amazing. Also, check out the Beach Hut, which is a very short walk from the hotel, for a great burger at a reasonable price.Rating:5
Loved this hotelWe spent 7 nights at this hotel and loved it. No complaints! Beautiful location, excellent spot for kids, amazing pools, incredible service the whole time. Its also an excellent central location for touring the island. We traveled with four kids (ages 9 - 15) and the beach was perfect for our needs. Very safe and not too crowded at all. The rooms are beautiful and the beds are super comfortable. Prices are always high in Hawaii for food, but it was nice to have restaurants/grill right on site - very convenient. We loved a restaurant off the beach called Dukes. If (or WHEN) we go back, we will definitely stay here again.
Travelers tip on recreational activitiesWe loved the kayak trip on the Wailua River to the falls. Fairly easy kayak trip and amazing hike into the forest to see some beautiful falls. The hike can be slippery and difficult, but well worth it. We shelled out a lot of money for a tour of the island by helicopter. I would definitely recommend it... amazing way to see this island and all its beauty!Rating:4
Honeymoon VacationThe service was excellent. Everyone was very friendly and the environment was relaxing. The rooms were clean and our ocean view room had an amazing view. We didnt spend much time at the resort during our vacation. Mainly just to sleep and get ready. It is conveniently located by the airport and central to the whole island. From the resort we were able to explore north and west of the island. The interior of the rooms and halls could use some upgrading. Also, the room would feel humid at times no matter how much we adjusted the thermostat.
Travelers tip on diningThere are some great restaurants close by (driving distance) that are better priced and better tasting than the resort restaurants.Rating:5
Wonderful VisistLive in Oahua and went away for a few days, did not want to drive or sightsee. The island has a lot more to explore, but wanted to be pampered and just lay by the pool. The shuttle and price sold me. The grounds sealed the deal when I arrived. The staff were so Aloha. The room was nice and although next to elevator i never heard the dings. The pool was what we went for and we were not disappointed. We even found plenty of shopping when we wanted a break from the sun. Beds not the greatest of comfort, but I slept fine anyway.
Travelers tip on shoppingCan walk to ABC store and get cheaper snacks for poolside noshing ate at Dukes bar area twice. Quite good considering I dont like the Dukes here in Waikiki.Rating:4
Fine Resort But Wheres the Kleenex? While this is an older hotel the Marriott has done a good job of keeping it in repair. The grounds are beautiful and our room view was wonderful. The restaurants were all very good. Our only complaint was that in order to cut costs Marriott is no longer providing Kleenex in the rooms. Can you believe that? When paying premium prices for a room dont you think that they could throw in a box of Kleenex? Obviously some lower level bureaucrat is making his quarterly numbers. However, the long term blemish on Marriotts brand should also be considered. Whats next having to bring your own toilet paper? Lets hope that someone from Marriott gets the message.Rating:4
Service good air conditioning notAir conditioning did not function properly. No Kleenex available in room during our entire stay. Service was friendly. Beautiful grounds and swimming pool.
