.Lovely setting
During our stay there was a change of ownership which was inconvenient to us as far as beach activities and restaurant hours.
Good
good service, friendly staff.
. You can find many restrants and gas stations etc. But, Its worthwhile to drive along the beach. GPS tends to lead you to the highway to Kahului airport.

If you look for restaurants I recommand to viset Kihei and Wailea. Beach is adjacent to the hotel and is great. It was very calm and relaxing time when I was staying in this hotel. But the its just a little difference if you have a car.Good quality for the cost
Its a little far from Kahului airport in comparison to other commodities near the airport and downtown.
. - There are a lot of local providers for activities. - The breakfast is not included in the hotel rate. Taxis are expensive and everything in Maui is far.
Travelers tip on saving a few bucks
- Rent a car before you go to the hotel (when you are leaving the airport). The general condition of the building could be better, but its acceptable considering they are 50 feet away from the beach. The hotel is located in Makena, in the southern part of Maui and, therefore, a car rental is more than recommended (although they offer free transfer to Wailea).
The staff is very kind and helpful.Wonderful staff, great hotel.
Good hotel to stay
Get your map, look for specials there is a lot of good deals and get ready for all kind of water sports and attractions
Travelers tip on dining
Look for the best food lot of restaurants too expensive but there is a few with good food and chip prices,.
There is nothing better than starting your day with a 1 hour snorkel trip, swimming with the turtles and rays!. If you are near a beach, rent a snorkel set from stores (not the hotel) for as less as $15 a week. Some of the things (luau, horseback riding) sell out and others like "road to Hana" and "trip to Haleakala + lavender gardens" take the whole day.
Travelers tip on getting the most out of your stay
spend time with concierge on day 1, get a sense of available things to do and start booking stuff. Our Hawaii vacation started on day 3!!! All said, props to the staff and the manager of this hotel, they are amazing and will do anything to make you feel better. which is a true 4 star resort with amenities to match.. We moved over to Westin Kaanapali Resort. We were supposed to stay there for 8 days. We changed our room twice and finally left this hotel after 2 days of stay. The rooms while "clean" are dated, some of them had a smell of mould in them, with ceilings showing obvious water damage marks. alas, the hotel has a dilapidated look to it... We booked this hotel hoping to have a memorable vacation, kind of like our second honeymoon. The hotel staff is amazing, they are trying hard to make up for this hotel which has not been updated since the 70s. It is located in the quieter part of Maui. Not a 3 or 4 star
If you want modest accommodations at a semi-reasonable price, this is the place for you.
. Breakfast was $18 a person, drinks were $9 just to give an idea of the prices at the resort. You wont regret your stay here!!

There is a Costco right by the airport, so we stocked up on food and drinks to keep in our hotel room. I cant say enough about this place. There is putt putt, volleyball, croquet, shuffleboard, and lots of other activities at the resort, plus classes for yoga, lei making, etc. The water was so clear and blue and the white sand was soft. The sunsets were beautiful and the beach was calm and not crowded. Every time we tried out another beach, we went back to our hotel beach (Makena) because it was amazing. It was one of the best trips we have been on and we would definitely go back without a doubt. We drove the road to Hana, drove to the Haleakala Summit, did a helicopter tour, went to Pearl Harbor for a day trip, snorkeled with the turtles (right in front of the resort), went to the Maui Prince luau, surfed, etc. I recommend getting a convertible- its worth the extra $$ (use the Maui valet service too). When you drive to get to the resort, you pass the Grand Wailea, Four Seasons, and Fairmont - great location and 4 star place for sure.Would go back - we loved the Maui Prince!!
The Maui Prince was an excellent choice for our anniversary trip! We were greeted with a shell lei, were upgraded to an ocean view room, and for the entire trip we were very pleased with the hotel and the service.
Plus the folks who run the outing are great!. The boat leaves from the beach at the Maui Prince and getting up at 6:00AM is definitely worth it to see the sea turtles, fish and wild birds at the crater.

I highly recommend the snorkeling outing to the Molokini crater. The rooms are a little dated in the decor and style but they are very comfortable. The views from the ground floor rooms arent as nice as those from the upper levels. There is a nature park just past the hotel that is neat to explore. The grounds open up to the beach which is beautiful and you can see the Molokini crater from the grounds. We didnt eat in the hotel restaurant. It is located in a really pretty section of Maui that isnt too touristy and close to some good restaurants. The grounds are really pretty too.kind of dated but nice...Maui Prince Hotel - Nice Place
Maui Prince is a nice hotel.

Nice food at the restaurant.
I wanted a sea from the room, but couldnt.Good, but not excellent.
Stella Blues Cafe in Kihei has early bird breakfast and dinner specials (20% off) and the food is quite good. The sunrise at Heleakala is definately worth it (dress warm). Go maybe about half way, and stop at a couple of the waterfalls.

The drive to Hana isnt worth it. It is a bit secluded and off the beaten path (a plus for us), but they do have a hotel shuttle to take you into town, and if you have a rental car you can get pretty much anywhere *except Hana) within 1/2 hr to 45 minutes. We found out during our stay that the resort might be going into forclosure and I dont know how that might affect the quality of the service and/or the overall look of the hotel, but I hope they can work it out becuase it is a very nice resort. The paint looked like it was starting to chip in some areas. The place could do with a little bit of a facelift on the exterior. There werent a whole lot of negatives. The pool was a little on the small side, but we didnt spend any time there because the private beach was uncrowded, had plenty of beach chairs, and the water was crystal clear and warm. There was a nature walk within the grounds, and a 9 hole, real grass and sand traps miniature golf course. The grounds were amazing, with a brook waterfalling into a large Koi pond. Our Lanai (balcony) was nice and big. Even tough we didnt pay for for an upgrade, we had a full ocean view, a very large room and a bathroom with 2 showers.Beautiful tropical grounds
We wish we could have stayed another week or 4.
. Although the hotel in general was in good condition, the carpet in our room may have needed a deeper cleaning.Great and Welcoming Hotel Staff
As soon as we arrived, we were received with warm smiles and beautiful shell leis.
. LOVE LOVE LOVE the maui prince. Every morning we would walk down to the beach and often we would see turtles close to the shore and swim with them, amazing!! It was great. This is a hotel for people looking for seclusion and beauty, it is NOT a hotel for people looking for the Las Vegas style over the top party hotel. So peaceful, tranquil and serene. The resort was quite full when we went, and yet it felt like we were the only couple there. I LOVE IT. The rooms are standard fare, what makes them amazing is the incredible ocean breeze. This is the 2nd time ive stayed & I would go back every time. Best stretch of golden sand beach in Makena.Perfect Stay at the Maui Prince
I love the Maui Prince.
. Overall, not a good choice because they charge similar rates as more impressive resorts nearby. Youre better off swimming at nearby beaches. Their furnitures are old and sometimes worn out, and dont even think about using the pool, which is small and unimpressive. Their facilities, however, are badly outdated.Outdated and Lacks the Wow Factor
The Maui Price is in a good spot and has excellent customer service.
.Great place
Very nice hotel with an outstanding and quiet beach.

The best beach!!!. The mornings on the beach were the best!!! We would go back there just for the beach. The water is fabulous, you can swim with seat turtles and a great snorkel trip (Kai Kanani) leaves from that beach. But the beach is the reason to stay there. The pool area is fair. People are very nice. We had to move rooms the first day because things were not working but they upgraded us to the top floor with ocean view.Best Beach in Hawaii
The hotel needs remodeling.
I definitely recommend this hotel to anyone going to Maui!
Travelers tip on saving a few bucks
The breakfast offered by the hotel is expensive so we went to a local grocery store and picked up a gallon of milk and a box of cereal for our breakfasts - definitely saved some money!. The beach was awesome and the hotel provides towels and beach chairs for guests to use - that was a plus! We ate at the Molokini Bar & Grille in the hotel for dinner one of our nights and the food is delicious and the sunset views are beautiful. The view from our lanai was spectacular.Awesome Hotel!!!
My husband and I stayed at the Maui Prince in July 2009 and we couldnt have asked for a better hotel! The room was great and the staff was so friendly.

Check out La Perouse Bay, very narrow road makes Hana hwy look like I-5. Room was clean except for condom wrapper in night stand drawer.Great snorkeling off beach in front of hotel.Good value & relaxing atmosphere
Stayed in a mauka suite for a resonable price.
. The crew members are friendly, the boat trip to Molokini is quick, and the solitude of having Molokini to yourself is amazing! You wont regret it. This is an early morning trip, and is the only snorkel tour at Molokini at that time of the morning.
Travelers tip on recreational activities
Be sure to book the express snorkel trip to Molokini on the Kai Kanani that leaves fromt he Maui Prince. The guest laundry facilities and workout room were a welcome convenience. The patio view is spectacular! So much to see and do in South Maui, and the Maui Prince made a perfect base for this leg of our vacation. Lunch at the Makena Club House was one of our favorite meals. Hotel staff were very friendly and efficient. The pool area, while not as lavish as contemporary hotels, was quiet and relaxing. The grounds are tropical and lush. We were in a very quiet, end unit with a peak view of the ocean from one lanai, and a garden view from the other. Lots of space for everyone. Our family of four stayed in a suite with two full bathrooms, and two comfortable "daybeds" for the kids, a refrigerator, and two separate lanais.Well Be Back!!
The Maui Prince is quiet, secluded and located on a beautiful, sandy beach.
. I travel extensively for business and this is simply not done in business hotels and I found it so insulting that I simply cannot recommend any hotel who engages in these dishonest business practices. I dont care if other hotels do it or not. This should be the cost of the room.Watch for mandatory Extra Fee
When I prepay for a hotel room I think it is completely dishonest for the hotel to inform me at check in that there is a mandatory per day fee.

The small towns and countryside of the Upcountry area of Maui. When we returned to the Maui Prince it was returning to the Hawaii that most people dream about and expect. noise, crowds, box rooms, too much traffic, and cement.e. We had to stay for a few days on business in Kaanapali which was the direct opposite i. Not a golfer so cant comment further. Golf course on hillside and extends to water. Beach activities available with the closest proximity to snorkeling trips to Molokini Island. The pool is small, but why use one in Hawaii when there is a warm torquise ocean. Good snorkeling. A safe beach for children. Beach is uncrowded with sand and gentle slope into ocean with no sudden drop off. Excellent food. Service is excellent and prompt. The staff is genuinely friendly. It allows for full air circulation from the lanai to outside door if one wishes to turn off the AC and listen to the ocean and the birds. A second outside door is slatted and can be locked. The rooms are clean, spacious with separate dressing area. The building is "V" shaped with rooms only on the outside wall. No overlooking a parking lot or concrete high-rise buildings. All rooms are either direct ocean front or partial oceanview. There is beautiful landscaping and understated beauty. The Real Hawaii
The Maui Prince, similar to its sister hotel, the Mauna Kea on the Big Island, is quiet, peaceful, and relaxing.
.00 extra charge for using the umbrellas at the beach on top of the $15 daily resort fee. The thing I disliked the most was the $25.Not impressed
This hotel was okay but not impressive.
Stella Blues Cafe(excellent breakfast).

Several restaurants that I suggest, Paia Fish Market(very nice place for lunch) any type of fish you want prepared how u want. The location of the hotel was great for the beaches, minutes from the big beach and the beach the hotel sit on is better then most I visited.Very nice
The staff was wonderful & very helpful with everything I asked.
. the rooms are much nicer and well kept.
stay in the lower level(1-3) of the hotel. The gardens, beach and the courtyard of the hotel are absolutely gorgeous.Beautiful, but needs an update
we stayed in Mauka suite, nice layout, but the room is crying for an update and much needed renovation.
. Best value in South Maui. Very peaceful atmosphere with nice rooms. Makena Beach is the best beach in Maui. Convenient to Molokini and Makena Beach.Peaceful Tranquility
Very nice accommodations with courteous staff.
Excellent Resort
Wonderful beach, great staff and well kept resort!.
