.The staff was very friendly and helpful.Worthwhile Choice
Although the building was not new by amny means, it was aq good choice for a place to stay in the Newport RI area.
. We ended up checking out at 6:30am. There was no telephone service, key cards didnt work and had to get new ones (we werent the only ones with this problem), cable went out our last day, spilled coffee outside our door and wasnt cleaned until much later although we told them twice, was definitely not worth the money, room was small for a king size bed, bathroom was too small also, water pressure in shower was very low. It was very hard and didnt get a good nights sleep. Not impressed
We were very disappointed in the bed.
. In room jacuzi was nice and the make your own waffles for breakfast were good. Convenient to newport, but no shuttle service was available. Grounds are nice if you want to get out of your room and bar b que, or just sit outside on a lawn chair.Newport Spa
This was an out dated hotel in some disrepair.
. They have countless tours, restaurant listings and other attractions all listed in one location. Also, check out the Newport Visotors Center. We brought back several bottles of wine as gifts. We paid less than $10 each for a tour and tasting and the staff was super friendly and knowledgaeably. IF you are looking for luxury, this isnt the place but if you want good service and an affordable, family-friendly environment that is close to the heart of Newport, this is the place to go!
Travelers tip on local attractions
The Newport Vineyards was a great (and cost effective)place to visit. Staff was helpful and friendly. It was extremely easy to get into the heart of Newport (only a few minutes away) and we enjoyed the whirlpool very much.Good Price right outside Newport
This hotel, although a bit older and in need of some updates, was very clean and served its purpose.
. We paid a top dollar at this hotel while the national chains in the area had rooms at lower rates and superlative quality lodging... Stay away
Travelers tip on saving a few bucks
You wont here. Pics on web were misleading. We tried a refund and were only offered an upgrade. The room was filthy with something that looked like feces or blood on the bathroom door, toothpaste on the mirror, trash behind the door, a rug so dirty we wouldnt walk on it, matted hair on the blanket the desk gave us, falling drop ceiling, peeling paint. doors were propped at our late check-in (midnight). One Half Star --Stay Away
Parking lot was unsafe, the ext.
this place at 1/4 star. Next night Econolodge 3 1/ 2 stars vs. They moved us to another room, and I asked for the cart to be brought to my room- did not happen. Servie was terrible. The rooms were small, and the phones did notwork. The floo had crumbs on it.Cleaning?
My wifes bed had crumbs and hair in it.
. Overall i am very happy with the hotel, and I cant wait to go back. Also they have a shuttle that takes you to downtown Newport for $2 per person each way, the shuttle picks up every 15 minutes, which is very convenient. The room was comfortable, clean and the Jetted tub worked great. The staff is very friendly.Cant wait to go back
I stayed there only one night, and I didnt want to leave.
. Not enough staff at the front desk, and, although the front desk staff were friendly, they did not present a professional appearance. Its a mish-mash of hallways and doors.Very weird hotel
This hotel is the strangest I have ever stayed in.
. great for apicnic or exploring for crabs and starfish. The kids love it.
whenever traveling to Newport I always stop at beavertail state park it is a must. Jacuzzi was great. overall a good stay and I would go back. beds were not that comfortable but it could have been worse. maid service did not come early in the morning waking you up to clean your room. Pool was clean. Hotel was clean, staff friendly and assisted you with your questions.Cant beat the price in Newport
the hotel was 5 minutes from downtown Newport.
. At the price we never could have found a better situation. The location was perfect for access to Newport business. The people working there were fantastic. The room was clean, a pretty good size and comfortable.
We totally enjoyed our stay....Not 5 star in ammenities, but 5 star service.
. Do it yourself waffles available at the breakfast which I love. Kids loved the pool. Staff was very prompt in bringing extra towels. Room was clean.Graet hotel and price
Hotels close to Newport without the huge price.
. Great location too. We really enjoyed the jacuzzi tub as well as the massage chair in the room. After mentioned, we were immediately moved to a different room even quieter than the other (with no smoke smell). Our room was to be non-smoking but the previous individuals in there had obviously not complied.A nice place to fully relax
We booked a general room and were automatically upgraded to a jacuzzi room, which was wonderful.
. It was not worth what we paid for the room with the jacuzzi tub.Just OK
Room smelled like smoke even though it was non-smoking and staff left us waiting at the front desk for a long time.
. Ive been to this place twice and will definitely stay there again. The hotel staff was helpful and the accommodations were very nice. Other than that, the entire stay was really good. I wish theyd turned on the heat when they know people will be checking in soon. It took at least an hour to warm the room enough.Great place to stay
The only problem we had was that the heat was not on in the room and it was freezing cold.
The area was great
ok doors didnt work with hotel card.
. I was completely dissatisfied with this hotel and the management stated the pool was able to be used but the hot tubs were never fixed. The pool was cold, unclean and the hot tubs were not working.Completely unhappy with this hotel
The reason for choosing this hotel was to have an indoor pool for my son while on a weekend getaway.
. It was a good hotel for the price. I would return if I go back to Newport. The service was very good and helpful. The hotel has some age on it and is some what worn but clean and rooms were quite nice. Our over all stay was very nice. The location to the Navy base was very good.
We were in Newport for a Navy event.Nice place for the money.
Desk staff NOT helpful. Hotel in generally run down condition. "Spa" was a hotel room that they simply hung a sign on when someone was having services. No decaf coffee. Three types of cold cereal, 2 sugared. Saran wrapped bagels and danish - very rubbery. "Complimentary" breakfast served in a hot, un-airconditioned room.Wouldnt go back
No restaurant service.
Would I go back? Probably - again because of the staff and in hopes that the hotel has worked hard to complete the project of renovating!
Travelers tip on dining
Dining in the area - especially down in Newport was wonderful! I have to say there wasnt a meal we didnt enjoy - food was delicious, service was friendly and we never had to wait!. The rooms that have been completed are comfortable. Theyre going through major renovations - some rooms should not be used until renovated - at least at the prices charged. The hotel itself - is in need of a little love. In this day and age - thats a selling point to me. they were the friendliest people and eager to make sure that we were comfortable and had everything we needed...A place to stay
The thing that stood out about this hotel was the staff .
they make it look good on line but its not worth the stay!. the pool was horrible, cold and dirty, hot tubs were not working. the toilet did not flush, shower overflowed into room below, towels smelled.Horrible place would not recommend
very old, they tried to update it but nothing works right.
. A complaint was lodged with the manager (that was three days ago) and we have heard nothing. We got back @ 10pm and the refrigerator had not been replaced and her insulin was no longer any good. It would be fine for an hour or two and the new refrigerator would be put in and going by then. My daughter had kept her insulin (she is a diabetic) on ice overnight and decided to put it in the refrigerator. She went back in the morning before we left @ about 8:30 and was again assured that the maintenance person would be arriving at 9 and that the refrigerator would be taken care of first thing and that anything in the refrigerator would be transferred to the new one. She was assured that when the maintenance person came on duty in the morning it would be taken care of. My daughter (in her thirties) went to the desk to report the problem. When we got there (Saturday about 5:30pm) we found that the small refrigerator in the room did not work. I wont go into the nitty-gritty because I want to focus on the really upsetting part. Other than that, it was all downhill.
The place was very clean. Would not recommend.Very unimpressed.
...CERTAINLY I DO RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL TO ANYONE.DONT EXPECT THE LUXURY OF MAJOR HOTELS FOR WHAT YOU ARE GOING TO PAY AT THIS HOTEL. THIS HOTEL IS JUST PERFECT IF YOU WANT TO SAVE MONEY.YOU JUST NEED A PLACE TO SLEEP WHILE GETTING THE MOST OF NEWPORT,RI...
Travelers tip on local attractions
.I WENT THERE WITH MY WIFE THIS PAST JULY 25TH,AND WILL GO AGAIN NEXT JULY 2009.PLENTY OF RESTAURANTS AROUND.BESIDES THAT,ITS CLOSE TO EVERYTHING INCLUDING DOWNTOWN NEWPORT,THE MANSIONS,THE BEACHES.CERTAINLY NOT ME.BATHROOM IS THE JUST A BIT TOO SMALL,BUT WHO CARES..THE ASKING PRICE FOR 5 DAYS AND 4 NIGHTS WERE RIDICOUSLY LOW,HAVING A QUEEN SIZE BED,JACUZZI,ELECTRIC IRON WITH TABLE,AIR CONDITIONER,CABLE TV,SMALL FREZEER,COFFEE MAKER WITH ACCESORIES,BATHROOM WITH A SHOWER,CLEAN TOWELLS,AND A INDOOR WARN WATER POOL...
...TOO MUCH PLACE FOR THE MONEY...WOW.
. Our room had a musty smell, only one bed was a Tempurpedic (and the person who slept in it had a back ache the next day), the shower had OK water pressure but we couldnt adjust the temperature of the water in it! Our window overlooked a hallway with construction materials in it, and the conference room was filled with old junk. The massage chairs, indoor pool, breakfast, and all-day coffee are nice.Nothing Special
Its a couple miles from downtown Newport, they have a shuttle, and its a little bit less expensive than places that are closer.
. The only negative is the walls are thin and you can sometimes hear the people in the next room. We stayed Mon and Tue night. We arrived early (before 1pm) and was able to check in, which was a nice surprise. The staff was friendly and helpful with directions and suggestions. The continental breakfast was OK - coffee, bagels, cereal, fruit salad, yogurt and waffels. I didnt book a room with a whirlpool tub, but we got one anyway. The room was nice with two queen sized beds and a small fridge, microwave, coffee pot and even an iron and ironing board.A very nice stay
We enjoyed our stay.
Over all it was an ok stay!. They did allow us to do a late check out that was vey nice. They did have massage chairs to use in the lobby, they were nice. The room wasnt very big either. We had a standard room with two queen beds and the bathroom was small, the shower was pretty small. They offered a continental breakfast which we ate one day and it was ok, my son liked making his own waffle and so did my husband. The indoor heated pool was kind of run down and we did not use it. Honestly from the pictures I saw online I was expecting something a little better, but it served its purpose I guess. Not the best, but suited our needs
I stayed in this hotel for three nights with my husband and my four year old son.
