convenient clean economicalThis hotel was a good choice with all the conveniences of home. A friendly, knowlegable staff. nower decor and an awesome breakfast selection (with real waffles). With a three minute walk to town, the beach/boardwalk, you cant go wrong!Rating:4
Excellent Location & Dog FriendlyWe didnt expect a lot from a place so close to the Boardwalk, so we were pleasantly surprised. The pool and the continental breakfast were nice bonuses, too.Rating:4
A good experienceGreat location for walking to the wharf, the boardwalk, or the the local farmers market and shops and restaurants along Pacific. Theres a bike rental place across the street if you prefer to bike. We didnt spend much time at the motel, but it was clean enough, and well-managed and comfortable - good value for the money. For some reason it seemed like there wasnt enough parking for all the guests; the lot was packed the second night and we struggled to squeeze our small car into one of the last remaining spots. Otherwise, a good experience on this low-budget vacation.Rating:3
Good for the money. The hotel is run down a bit. They do have a great breakfast in the morning. A variety of things and you get to make your own waffle. The location is perfect close to everything. You park your car and can walk downtown, wharf and the boardwalk. The parking lot is very small. The room is a bit run down but there is a microwave, and frig in the room which is nice especially when traveling with kids. You can save on having to buy sodas and waters all day long in the heat :)It is a good deal and I really liked the location. Pool is nice with two hot tubs. Staff was very friendly. It is worth the money spent and it is close to everything!!Rating:2
Hard to find, hard to parkThis hotel was loud and rundown. It was very difficult to get in and out of the parking lot. Front desk did not answer door at 7:00 a.m. in the morning. Would not recommend.Rating:3
AcceptableClean and inexpensive, comparable.Rating:2
Will find another place to stay next timeWhen we arrived the inn looked ok. The girl at the counter was pleasant. When we got into our room the floors had sticky stains on them. There was only one chair. The beds were ok. We only had 2 towels and had to ask for more. The gentle at the counter was having a hard time understanding that we wanted two more towels. Friday night the people upstairs must of had a jacuzzi tube and ran it until about 12:30am, it vibrated our whole room. We will try the hotel next door next time.
Travelers tip on local attractionsThe location of the inn was very good two blocks from down town and two blocks from the beachRating:1
Would not recommend this hotelWhile this is close to the Santa Cruz Beach, I woke up with bed bites throughout my back, the room and hotel was not very clean and because of bed bugs, could not sleep. The breakfast "buffet" to say the least, was a room towards the back of the hotel, with old fruit, cold coffee and not very welcoming. They say they are "dog friendly" with dedicated rooms, and even then, I wouldnt let me dogs stay there. Will never stay there again.Rating:5
Going back next yearThe people were friendly and helpful. They have one of the best continental breakfast that I have ever had at a hotel. I will definately stay there again when I go back next year.
Travelers tip on local attractionsThis hotel is only a few blocks from the Santa Cruz warf and also from the Boardwalk.Rating:4
Fine StayGood rooms, good continental breakfast. Walking distant to beach and plenty of eating on the boardwalk and wharf. Check out the sea lions that sleep on the wharf at night.Rating:3
Run Down Condition UnimpressiveFailed to ignore previous reviews indicating a shabby condition. Must be better hotels in same price range nearby. By comparison Holiday Inn Express or Comfort Inn chains are much better. Do yourself a favor and skip this one if you can find something comparable.Rating:3
OP lodge SC visitit was kewl very close walk to the beach. nice pool and hot tub. if you are going to go and not have a 5 star hotel it rocks... its not dirty nor scummy... its pretty nice especially for the price.....Rating:3
Good basic hotel for staying close to the wharf, beach, and boardwalk.Good basic hotel for staying close to the wharf, beach, and boardwalk. Room was clean and functional. Parking is tight during the weekends.
Travelers tip on local attractionsClose to the wharf, beach, and boardwalk.Rating:3
Good Basic RoomVery basic - I stayed in the hot tub room #309 it is an old spa tub but there is room for 2. Other than that good value for the price and close to the wharf and boardwalkRating:4
Great location, pleasant roomThis hotel is right at the foot of the big shopping street (Pacific Ave.) and near the wharf and amusement park. You can walk everywhere (though there is plenty of public parking). The room was comfortable and quiet. No breakfast provided, though; that would be a great convenience.
Travelers tip on diningThere are lots of restaurants on Pacific Ave.--all sorts of ethnicities. Very crowded (with students) on Saturday evening, though.Rating:4
A good choice for the price in Santa Cruz beach areathe overall quality of this hotel is beyond my expectation of a two star hotel. I was in a minor problem in my first night stay. There is a door b/w two rooms, therefore, I can clearly hear the sound from the other room across the door. It really bothers me, since poeple in the other room stay late and keep the TV on. Fortunately, the guest in the second night is very quiet. Overall, I would recommend the hotel. It would be a good choice.Rating:3
Decent: Nothing special, nothing awfulPurely functional motel -- decent choice if you get a good rate. The Sea and Sand Inn is a better choice, but is more likely to be sold out. Location near the wharf is the main feature here. Room was clean to the point of smelling of bleach sometimes. Everything is the style of a motel, which wasnt quite what Id expected. Noisy air conditioner worked very well. Small towels typical of beach motels. No desk in our room (two queen beds). Wireless internet worked well, occasionally quite speedy. Continental breakfast offered two kinds of cereal with one kind of milk, waffles, toast, yogurt, danish, coffee and juice from machines, bananas. No attendent -- if something runs out, call the front desk and theyll replenish it, a system that worked OK. Smallish pool and two small hot tubs, better than none and good for kids. Our room was right next to one of the gates to the pool -- noisy, but not tragically so. Rooms are reasonably quiet, but expect some noise from adjoining rooms.Rating:4
Great locationThis Hotel is just 2 short blocks from the ocean and Santa Cruz Beach Broadwalk. It is in a fantastic area. We plan on going back and staying at the Ocean Pacific Lodge soon. Also, the price was right.Rating:4
Ocean Pacific LodgeI have stayed at the Ocean Pacific Lodge twice now and each time my visit has been very pleasent. The rooms have always been clean and as nice as can be expected for the money being spent. If you are only looking to spend a night or two it is perfect and close to the warf in Santa Cruz.Rating:5
Jacuzzi Suite - AWESOME !We got the jacuzzi suite - Rm 312. It stunk we had to walk 3 flights of stairs, there was an elevator, but our room wasnt close to it. Not a big problem though. The suite was nice. It had a little "living room" with a leather 3 seater couch with coffee table, TV, Mini Fridge, Microwave, and a sink. Then there was a separate room with a door closure that lead into the bedroom. The Bedroom was roomy enough, it also had a TV and a dresser, 2 Night Stands. The bathroom was HUGE! I have stayed at "jacuzzi" suites before and all they were was a glorifed bathtub. This jacuzzi was stinkin huge, like 8 foot by 5 foot. You could put 4 people in that thing! But were not into that. Water was nice and hot and relaxing. The hotel is a block and a half away from the Boardwalk and the Wharf and East cliff Blvd and the Downtown area. GREAT LOCATION. Getting to the hotel is very tricky, take a mapquest or GPS Nav if you dont know the Santa Cruz area. The breakfast was better than what I have seen at other hotels. They had a make-your-own waffle deal that was fun. They also had fruit, cereal, pastries, coffee, chocolate milk, yogurt, flavored creamer. The wifi was glitchy. It worked fine most of the time but when it didnt, it was frustrating. Parking lot is small, and we were driving a Dodge 1500 truck. I took up a space and a half most of the time... Sorry if messed up your space. All in all I was satisfied with the rate - it was worth it. 4.5 out of 5 Good family room, you can lock the kiddies in the living room area and have the master suite to yourselves :)Rating:2
Ok for the priceThe staff are really nice and helpful. The owners of this hotel are clearly trying to provide a nice hotel experience but they are limited by the small room size and an aging infrastructure. It is close to the boardwalk and the pier and that is the main advantage to staying here. The pool is pretty decent.Rating:4
OVERALL GOODWAY OVER PRICED, BUT THAT WAS BECAUSE IT WAS THE WHARF TO WHARF SEASON. POOL AND SPA WE EXCELLENT, ROOM SMALL, BEDS COMFORTABLE, AIR WORKED GOOD. CONTINENTAL BREAKFAST WAS NOT TENDED TO WELL, WE HAD TO CALL FOR RESTOCKING. KEYS DEMAGNETIZED A FEW TIMES.Rating:4
Ideal Location and AffordableWe were able to walk everywhere we wanted to go. It is a short walk to the pier, beach, and the boardwalk, and also a short walk into the shops on pacific. The staff was great and the amount you spend on this stay matches the expectations of the room. One small item to beware of is that the parking lot is really small - so get the prime spots and stay there!Rating:5
Convenient and CleanEasy walking distance to Santa Cruz Wharf and Boardwalk. Older-style motel that remains well-maintained and suited our purposes perfectly. We did not partake of the continental breakfast, so no opinion there. Front desk personnel friendly and helpful, although small criticism: dress more professionally (I know, I know - its CA!).Rating:5
Great Location!Short walk to the Warf, Boardwalk, Beach, and lots of entertainment and dining. The hotel room was comfortable and spacious, however not the best for business travelers if wanting peace and quiet. The continental breakfast was adequate. Parking was available near room entrance and there was easy access to main roads.
