. It makes a perfect 2 or 3 day vacation.Strawberry Banke, Naval Shipyard, quaint shops downtown, very nice dining...
Travelers tip on local attractions
As former residents we were aware of the attractions. It was quiet and the staff was very friendly. Beautifully appointed rooms, large bath, continental breakfast. For a 2 star facility, you get much more than you would ever expect. I can see why.
I had read previous reviews of Port Inn and they had all been positive. We will go back.
. Plus, if youre into outlet shopping, Kittery, ME is right over the river.

A very short drive to downtowm Portsmouth gives you plenty of shops, restaurants, very nice parks for walking, sightseeing or picnic lunches, harbor cruises - basically quite a bit to see and do in the area. Ive stayed at nicer places but overall it was a good experience and I would stay here again. The inn is right off of I-95 but is well insulated and quiet. The continental breakfast was typical and decent, plenty of coffee, bagels, muffins, pastries, etc. The outdoor pool looked well kept and clean but we never did get to use it. I am 65" and it almost felt like I had my knees in my chin (not really that bad but I believe it was shorter than a standard bowl). The only complaint I have with the room was the toilet was the shortest I have ever had in a hotel.Okay weekend stay
The hotel and grounds were well maintained and our room was nicely decorated, plenty of space to move around in with a flat screen TV, internet connectivity, kitchenette with fridge, cooktop, pots and pans, a nice place to spend a long weekend or more.

We had breakfast at Popovers a couple of mornings- the coffee and pastries were excellent and we really enjoyed sitting outside and watching the people (and dogs). All in all, we were pleased with our choice and it suited our needs for this trip. Great to have a refridgerator in our room (appreciated but didnt really use the mini-kitchen). Helpful staff. We didnt use the pool, but it looked lovely and others were enjoying it! Nice continental breakfast in the lobby. We used the room as a "home base" while spending lots of time exploring the area (especially downtown Portsmouth- charming!!!) The room was clean, large and pleasant. Rather than spending BIG money for something downtown, we opted for the Port Inn (in part, based on reviews from others who had stayed there).Just fine for what we needed!
My family (me, husband and 7 yr old daughter) wanted a last minute get-away in Portsmouth.
. Great job port inn. Good to know places like this still exist. Rooms were spotless and well appointed (even the "bargain" rooms) breakfast was just coffee and some toast/cereal, but it was cheaper/better than McDonalds. well run, friendly people, early check -in late check out no problem. great little place. Didnt happen. when i got there, the pitcures on the site were a little misleading (pics made it look like a funky botiuque hotel, but its just a roadside motel) so i was prepared for a let down. Picked the port hotel based on reviews from expedia travelers. thats a great hotel, but i wasnt going to drop 500 for 4 hours of sleep.Great little motel
in town for a friends wedding at Wentworth By the sea.
. You have to go to the hampton beach about 20mins away,a hot spot.
Travelers tip on getting the most out of your stay
Do bring your GPS!! Kittery Maine youll find the shopping outlets which is just 5 minutes away over the bridge. I would highly recommend this hotel!!. Overall I was extremely satisfied. The front desk was very helpful in providing maps how to get around. Coffee is always there 24 hrs a day. Nice touch with the complimentary breakfast. Never seen that before in upper class hotels. There was a huge 50+ inch tv in the living room while the bedroom had about a 42inch. I was very comfortable. My room was fabulous. I booked a room with a king bed and was instantly upgraded to a suite from the time I walked thru the front door.Best of Portmouth!!
Ive never been happier with my hotels choice.
go!...

Downtown Portsmouth has something to offer for everyone! From eclectic shopping, I got beautiful earrings from an Israeli artist!, to open air concerts, breweries, a xylophone player in the street belting out Stairway to Heaven and close to the water and local beaches . I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone going to the Portsmouth Area. The Ports Inn was just that, fabulous staff, free wifi, comfortable beds and within a 5 minute drive of downtown Portsmouth.Fantastic Local Owned!
When going on vacations, I like to try to find a non-chain hotel that has all of the comforts of home.
$th of july trip
excellent place very friendly staff.
. The hotel was within 15 minutes walking distance to the beautiful downtown area.

Get a city map before traveling to Portsmouth -the road system was confusing. The staff was very friendly.Very nice
The room was super clean and very comfortable.
I have no complains!
Travelers tip on shopping
There is a wonderful outlet mall about 15 minutes north of the hotel that has many great deals!. The staff were very friendly and willing to help me find anything I asked them about. This hotel was much better than many expense chain hotels I have stayed at before. But when I walked into the room I was very much impressed by the cleanliness, decor, comfort level, etc.Not what I expected
This hotel is not apart of a "big" chain of hotels so I didnt have high expectations.
. Great for leisure travel near beach, shopping, downtown, and more. Charming decor, clean, and quiet.Charming Little Inn
Very nice travel inn conveniently located near major highway in Portsmouth.

Travelers tip for business travelers
wont find a better, cleaner, nicer place for the money, period. Highly recommended. Very clean. Very close to everything downtown. I stay here now once a month for business and wont even consider changing hotels. Staff was extremely friendly.Do Not Pass this Place up!
hotel was very laid back and comfortable.
. Lunch was amazing! We couldnt help but browse their bakery afterwards and take home numerous deserts. Now this is a place you have to visit if you go to Portsmouth. The next day, we stopped at Popovers for lunch located in downtown Portsmouth. Was nice to sit on the Portsmouth harbor. Afterwards we went across the street to Poncos and sat at their outside bar for a few drinks. It was reasonably priced and good food. I would definately go back again!

We went to The Oars House for dinner. The outside maintance of the motel is very clean and very well taken care of. The room has everything a normal hotel room would have. The bathrooms were very nice (hotel like). Our room was a king, and it was perfectly sized. But the Port Inn came very highly recommeded from friends whom have stayed there before. I admit i was nervous to book a motel and usually stay at nice hotels. The motel is very clean. The employee that helped us surprisly remembered it was my boyfriends birthday and wished him warm birthday wishes and joked around with him. Upon arrival, we recieved helpful advice on great places to dine, fun night life, and great directions. All the employees at Port Inn are extremely friendly and helpful. The service is fantastic. We chose to stay at The Port Inn due to its great prices and recommendation from a friend.A happy customer !
I took my boyfriend to Portsmouth for his Birthday.
. Nice for the price. We were upgraded to a suite upon our arrival.Nice for the price
Close to area attractions, Kittery, and downtown Portsmouth.
. Great access to the interstate. Management was very friendly and the price to stay overnight was very affordable. Washers & dryers were available if one needed to wash clothes. Free internet connection, HDTV and continental breakfast available in the lobby.Great place to stay in Portsmouth
The Port Inn was very well maintained and each room has a small kitchenette which would be especially great for families staying more than one night.
. Still, would definately stay there again. Only downside - not convenient to walk to the downtown shop/historic parks areas. Small patio area in front - pleasant for morning coffee! Didnt swim, but the pool area looked very nice, clean, secluded in the back area of the hotel, with many lounge chairs and tables., free breakfast also. Coffee, tea, hot chocolate, and snacks available in lobby 24 hrs. All staff super friendly and helpful, especially with directions to downtown (had maps & they highlighted the routes for you), and with dining options. Large, clean, nicely finished bathroom with plenty of counter space. Room was small but very clean, comfortable, and access to the internet was not a problem as it can be at some places.Port Inn - Great Deal!
Port Inn was a great deal! Just off the circle from the interstate, but still very quiet - no traffic noise.
. I highly recommend this hotel. Although I was only there for one night and didnt take advantage of the kitchen, the room had a great kitchenette. It was very clean and the staff was very friendly.Great for the price
I was very impressed with this hotel.
A great find, we will stay ter again. The bathroom was like that in a room costing twice as much. The rooms, while a bit small are well thought out beautiflly decorated and full of amenities.Great find
This hotel has been given enormous attention to detail.
. Best room for the price in Portsmouth. Parking was good and the location of the hotel from points of interest was exceptional. Very good continental breakfast. Will stay here again
Hotel was clean and quiet.
. Pop Overs in Portsmouth has great desserts for after dinner. Muddy River Smokehouse has AMAZING barbecue. Pocos Cantina in Portsmouth has great drinks and usually has pretty good food too.

Kittery outlet shopping is only a few miles away. Highly recommended. Ive stayed in many hotels throughout Portsmouth, and this one has to be one of my favorites in the whole area. I cant say enough about this place. Very very easy access to highways and downtown Portsmouth as well as Kittery, ME shopping. Newer flat screen TVs in every room. Our room was exceptionally clean, the beds were very comfortable, many pillows, nice clean kitchen area. Staff is always friendly and helpful. That was the first and only time in my life a hotel/motel has called to tell me they would be charging me a lower rate just for the sake of it, and it speaks volumes about the quality of service at this place. During our first trip, the front desk called our room after we checked in and notified us that they found a "better rate" for us and we would be charged the lower rate. Both times we have stayed here, we were upgraded in some form or fashion without even asking.Always a great stay!
March 09 was our second stay at the Port Inn.

Try the Oar House on Ceres Street in Portsmouth, NH or Annake Jens in Kittery, ME. Location is easy to find but does requires a car to get into downtown Portsmouth. Staff very helpful.A Pleasant Bargain
Privately owned older motel that is well maintained.
loved it!...
Travelers tip on dining
Ate dinner at The Library.I would highly recommend...but not fancy... If you are looking for something clean and comfortable. It has a warm, nostaglic feel with all the updated amenities. This is a charming, updated motel-style property that reminded me of the motels I would stay at with my parents when I was a child.Clean, Charming New England Motel
What a pleasant surprise! My husband and I were visiting friends in Portsmouth,NH and stayed at The Port Inn.
. Provided a nice alternative from the chains hotels. Grounds were very nice. Room was clean and provided a great value for the money.Nice Motor Lodge
Staff was very polite and helpful.
. Right on the beach and definitely much more than what we were expecting for beach fireworks.
Travelers tip on local attractions
Hampton beachs Wednesday night fireworks were amazing. Definitely would stay there again. Only wish that I couldve gotten the wifi to work. The pool was lovely and an added bonus. It was by far the most comfortable and well appointed rooms that we stayed in the entire trip.Comfort for the road weary
We stayed at the hotel one night during a long road trip.
. This is not you usual breakfast place and well worth the trip.
Travelers tip on dining
A must is the Friendly Toast for a delicious, yet eclectic breakfast. I hope I get to come back someday. Portsmouth is a hidden gem. Appreciated the free wireless connection. We had a double room which included a microwave and fridge. I was sorry I couldnt take advantage of the pool because it looked lovely, but there was too much to do in the town area. Location in central to all the activities and sight in the area.Loved the Port Inn
If you are traveling in the Portsmouth area, the Port Inn is the place to stay.
. They provided a nice continental breakfast, although there could have been more places to sit indoors as it was extremely warm outdoors where they had tables set up. The room was a little small but adequate with a microwave, frige and coffee maker.Port Inn
The entire facility appeared to have been recently redone, so it was very clean and comfortable.
