Great for Navy GraduationOur stay was very comfortable. The only negative was we had one room key that was worn and didnt work. Other thn that I would recomend this hotel for all those who are thinking of going to the Navy boot camp graduationRating:5
I would stay there again. Was in the area for Navy graduation and the staff was excellent, very knowlegable and friendly, even when I checked out at 5:00am. Pool needs to be warmed, it didnt feel like a heated pool. The breakfast was wonderful, my sailor really enjoyed some fresh hot food.Rating:5
very good experienceI enjoyed the stayRating:4
Great HotelThe hotel was very clean and the staff was friendly. The resturant and bar was very expensive and the food wasnt that good. If I am in the area again, I would definitely stay here. Very close to Navy base, too.
Travelers tip on getting the most out of your stayBring your swimsuit... huge indoor swimming pool and hot tub.Rating:1
Not impressedMy room was suppose to be non-smoking, it reeked of stale cigarettes; housekeeping broke the towel rake and left the pieces on my sink, 2nd day of my stay they did not take out the trash.
Travelers tip on getting the most out of your stayLearn about the transit system before you leave. Waukegan had no transit and the taxi was expensive.Rating:4
Good choiceStaff very friendly !Bit too far, 35 miles from downtown Chicago but well located if you want to visit 6 Flags America , near Gurnee Mills Shopping Mall and Pleasant Prairie Outlets.Great plus for free wifi , pool and sauna.Great breakfast but very crowded during weekends.Great place to stay,we recommend this hotel !
Travelers tip on shoppingSafe neiborhood but do not go there if you dont have a car !Rating:4
Great Hotel for Naval Graduation FamiliesThis was a nice hotel to stay in. Had everything we needed for the one night stay.Rating:3
OK Hotel. Between a 3 and 4 on Overall ScaleYour satisfaction here will depend on whats important to you. I was interested in the fitness equipment this hotel claimed to have, but actually it wound up being a couple of treadmills shoved into a room that doubled as a gift shop, so I wound up looking for a workout elsewhere. The breakfast again wasnt well suited for me, though for those who like doughnuts, the selection the morning I was there was really very impressive. Much more than just a box of Krispy Kremes. Overall the property could use a bit of refurbishment, but it seemed clean and there was certainly an army of staff working on cleaning things up in the morning. For my personal taste, Id probably choose something else the next time Im in this area, but its a decent hotel.Rating:3
It was fine...Hotel was fine - its older and you can tell that. It accomodated us for what we went there for - to see our son graduate boot camp. We didnt intend to spend a lot of time in the room therefore it didnt bother us. Location wasnt bad from the base and all in all we have no complaints. It was clean just simply older....Rating:5
great place to stayhotel staff was great!
Travelers tip on nightliferight in the hotels bar. i had a great night of dancing and drinkingRating:3
Not your typical Chicago hotel experienceThe hotel itself is very outdated and the walls were paper thin (could hear the conversation in the next room!). It was fine for a one night stay but wouldnt go back. The meeting rooms were used for church groups and Herbal Life rallys so were very loud in the lobby area. The bar/restaurant were ok. Service was good.Rating:4
Would stay againUpon arrival I was very confused as to which buildings were part of the hotel. The main lobby and reception area are very nice and is in a newer building. However the rest of the hotel, is rather out of date in terms of the way it looks on the outside. Quite misleading, so I was a little disappointed. Room was very clean on the other hand, nothing fancy but served its purpose. Walls are a little thin, we could hear a kid crying next door and people walking in the room above us. They had portable cribs which was wonderful and check-out through the tv. The room service was WONDERFUL! A little pricey but the quality of food is definitely worth it. Even with its misleading looks and with its location right in front of the "projects" of Waukegan it is still one of the better hotels in the area. Great place to stay for the Navy bootcamp graduation. We were only 5-10 minutes away from the base for easy pick-up and drop off for liberty weekend. Hotel also had directions printed out and ready the morning of graduation. Would stay again just maybe on the 2nd floor, safer and quiter.
Travelers tip on local attractionsClose to RTC, Gurnee Mills Mall, fast food, restaurants, movie theater.Rating:5
staff was wonderful, i would go backwe arrived early and they had our room ready anyway. our room had a smoke odor, i went to the desk and they immediatley gave me another room, said to check it out and let them know if that was acceptable. it was. staff was awesome. always smiling. nice to have a reception for the navy graduates families. we had a good time. nice pool and hot tub too.
Travelers tip on diningwas a great resturant in the hotel with a super breakfast. brought my son, the sailor graduate back saturday for breakfast. food was excellent!Rating:3
Ok for a few nights on a budgetThe bed and pillows were so comfortable. The breakfast was ok - pretty crowded even early in the morning. Overal it was a decent stay.
Travelers tip on diningThe restaurant in the hotel is a JOKE. The food is mediocre at best and WAY overpriced. And the service there was ridiculous. I would recommend finding somewhere else to eat.Rating:5
Very comfortableThe front desk help was extremely helpful and friendly. The bed was very comfortable. We were very happy with our stay at the Ramada Inn. The complimentary Navy family meet & greet was a great idea. They made us feel very welcome. Would stay there again if we went back to Gurnee.
Travelers tip on shoppingThe outlets 4 miles up the road were awesome!Rating:2
Not impressedThe key cards are annoying and do not give you access to the doors properly. I about wet my pants trying to get into the hotel because my key didnt work. The hotel seems quite dated but I did love the down comforters on the bed.
Travelers tipNot a great place to stay for visiting Great Lakes Naval Base.Rating:1
Definitely not recommendedI found this hotel to be dirty and smelling like dogs, though I dont think pets were allowed. The room was shabby, and the front desk help was sub-par. I would have stayed somewhere else if everything else within 50 miles of the Chicago area hadnt been booked already that night, and I certainly wont be going back.Rating:3
Not impressedRoom was had a very musty smell upon entering. Neighborhood not the safest. Very little security outside of the hotel, and was approached my questionable element. Conveniences, (i.e. ice machines) a distance from the room.Rating:3
Convenient location with pool/sauna & hottubA friendly no hassle check in/out. Clean & quiet room and pool area. The only complaints I would have is that the hall by our room had an odor that reminded me of sewage or the smell on a bus after someone hurled.Rating:4
Perfect location for Kids and Adults Ramada Inn WaukeganThe rates were very resonable for the location of this hotel, the rooms were clean, nice pool, adequite work-out facilities, the phone did not work in our room, and the staff was a little slow to respond to our needs at times but overall a nice hotel with good staff.
Travelers tip on local attractionsThis hotel is located only 3 miles (approx.) from Six Flags Great America, and only 5 miles (approx.) from the Gurney Mills outlet mall, with only one or two turns to remember/negotiate this is a awsome location in the suburbs.(About 45 minutes to an hour from downtown.)Rating:3
OldThis hotel definitely needs a renovation. The pool water and hot tub need to be cleaned, they look very dirty. The room had been redone and was very nice. The breakfast room had run out of EVERYTHING. We were a bit disappointed with that.
Travelers tip on recreational activitiesVery convenient to get to Great America and Gurnee Mills shopping.Rating:2
If you can stay somewhere elseOld building, moldy smell in the room, dirty bathrooms and dark swiming pool. This is what Ill remember after the stay here.
Travelers tip on local attractionsSix Flags - visit the park, it is lots of funRating:4
better than others in townI highly recommend this hotel, it was so much nicer than another hotel in the same town, just blocks away. I ate breakfast in the restaurant, the food came very fast and was good. The room was clean and well kept. The only complaint i had was the tv remote was missing and the iron stopped working. However, the front desk sent a maintenance guy within minutes of my call to try to fix the iron. He ended up replacing the iron with a working one. If you must stay in this town, stay at this hotel. I tried it thanks to reviews i read on expedia from other members after my last experience in this town and I am so glad i did. When i go back, I will absolutely stay at this hotel again!!Rating:4
Comfortable HotelA comfortable hotel, with modest amenities and very friendly staff. The bonus was the restaurant and bar. Food was good, especially the breakfast. I didnt like the cigarette smoke smell in hallways. I would recommend they make it totally smoke free and perhaps get some better irons and ironing boards. Our room was non-smoking and there was no smell of smoke at all in the room.
Travelers tip on shoppingGurnee Mills Outlet Mall was a real treat.Rating:4
Dont expect high class....I stayed at the Ramada for a Naval Recruit Graduation. It provided all the basics I needed. The beds were extremely comfortable, however the bathroom needs to be updated. It is very shabby and rundown. I called room service to order food and they hung up on me twice. So I ordered pizza from the local Papa Johns. Stay there knowing that you wont spend all day in the room.
Travelers tip on local attractionsChicago is fantastic! The magnificent mile has everything you will need.
