A comfortable place in a great locationId return to the Normandy Hotel. It has a boutique hotel flavor with well appointed rooms. It is located on a quiet street but right near Connecticut avenue and the buzz of Dupont Circle.Rating:5
Great Small Hotel in Washington, DCThe Normandy is a delightful small hotel somewhat off the beaten track in Washington, DC. The front desk receptionists were always pleasannt and helpful. The hotel is comforably and tastefully furnished. Our standard bedroom was clean and adequate for our needs.
Travelers tip on diningThere are excellent restaurants withinn a ten minute walk either up or down Conneticut AvenueRating:5
European-feeling hideaway inside DC with 95% of the modern amenitiesI booked this hotel room for my parents who decided at the last minute to come to DC and visit me for the weekend. My 1 BR apartment (like most in DC) is too small to play hostess in -- well, I guess I should say that it is too small to host family in and still be speaking to them when they leave. BOTH my parents thought this hotel was lovely -- an impressive feat since they have very different tastes (ex: dad loves Waffle House...food and atmosphere; mom loves any restaurant where you can see and be seen; definitely a case of opposites attract.) When I went to pick them up my mom said the room had a cute European feel (her way of saying that it was not a palatial sized room), my dad just said it was FINE and then turned to me and told me I did a great job finding them a place! The ONLY down side (i.e., the 5% modern amenity that was missing) is that they dont have a restaurant on site and the vending machines dont currently work. There are coffee machines in every room and they serve a small selection of breakfast items in the lobby each morning, but after that the only option was a can of warm Diet Coke that they had stashed at the front desk. Apparently the management is still working on finishing up some major renovations, and I would assume that vending machines and the like are on the list, but if you want something to drink/munch on at the end of the day it is BYO! Not only would I recommend this place, but BOTH my parents said they would stay there again.Rating:5
Great funky place to stay.I hate chain hotels and this one is one of the better alternative hotels i have stayed at. Friendly receptionist, spotlessly clean room, wonderful European style decor. Free wireless - dont you hate paying $1295 a day for it at the Marriot? Only downsides for some - my room was cozy but not large and the hotel is a good healthy walk from the Metro. But this place is an unmatched $$ value for DC!Rating:5
Fabulous, Historic Hotel with Updated Rooms! The Normandy is located in an unforgettable, elegant neighborhood, and is a beautifully updated and secure hotel. I travel a lot, and will never forget my stay at this property.Rating:5
List of recommendationsI enumerate recommendations. -Staffs were friendly and kindly. -The room had moden equipments...especially a TV was wonderfull. -There were not only a shampoo but a hair conditioner in the bathroom. -The curtains were able to be closed completely. -They have parking at their basement. -People can walk to many restaurants.Rating:5
Normandy Hotel DCHighly recommend. Nothing negative to say. I would use again for sureRating:5
Nice Boutique Hotel near Dupont CircleIf you want a nice hotel near Dupont Circle then this is a good choice. It is located just off Connecticut Ave, south of the Woodley Park metro and an easy walk to the shops and restaurants of Dupont Circle.
Travelers tip on local attractionsIf you take the Metro, take the red line and get off at the Woodley Park stop. This stop is closer to the hotel and the walk is down hill instead of up hill from the Dupont Circle stop.Rating:5
very nice hotelthis was a very cute, nice hotel in a great part of washington d.c. it was a short walk from the metro in dupont and had plenty of restaurants nearby. i would definitely stay here again.Rating:5
Excellent. No problems at all. Very clean, nice room. Couldnt ask for a better stay.Rating:4
Nice, quaint, hotel - great value for the money! This hotel is a small, European-style hotel, with small but comfortable rooms. They have all of the amenities of a larger, much-more-expesnsive hotel at a great price. And they have some nice surprises - like a night-light under the bathroom sink that comes on when you enter the room - a nice feature in the middle of the night.Rating:4
Small boutique feel, in great locationVery nice hotel conveniently located within about 10 minutes walk from Metro, restaurants, and night life. Hotel is newly appointed with luxurious bed, TV and bathroom. Only downside is the lack of storage space. Aside from the standard folding suitcase rack, there are no dresser drawers, the closet is tiny and half taken up by a room safe. This was not an issue on a leisure trip such as mine, but could be a problem if the traveler has suits or more formal clothes. Very friendly people, and good value.Rating:4
Nice HotelThis is a very nice hotel but is not closely located to a Metro stop. If you do not mind walking a bit this is your place.Rating:5
Loved the Normandy! This hotel has a great european feel to it with all the modern ammenities! It was great to have an Espresso in the morning made right in the room! It was also great to have a flat screen TV with a DVD player and free internet access! The continental breakfast served in a parlor atmosphere was very comfortable and relaxing for a start to your day. It is a very cozy and quaint place to stay in the DC area, plus the location of Dupont Circle made it all the more fun!
Travelers tip for business travelersThe room is about the size of your master bedroom, but is very comfortable.Rating:5

Very niceWe enjoyed the hotel, location and very nice employeesRating:5
Great find near in Dupont CircleI would recommend this hotel to anyone travelling to DC. Convenient, inexpensive and nicely done - more like a B&B than a "hotel". Recently remodeled and in great shape. It doesnt have all the amenities that a full-service hotel does, but does have free internet and complimentary computer in the lobby. Very convenient location as well - 5 minute walk to 2 metro stops. Highly recommend this place!Rating:4
Nice Room in Expensive AreaThe Normandy lies between DuPont Circle and Adams-Morgan, and is one of the few hotels available that is not extremely high-priced. The room was comfortable, the window could open for fresh air, staff was pleasant and the breakfast room was sedate. My only other comment is about the espresso machine (with retail information) in the room. Not being an espresso-kind-of-guy, I find such machines a fascinating mystery. Since it had no instructions, was I supposed to use it, or just view it? Should there have been coffee, or milk, or powder, etc.?. A nice room, nevertheless.Rating:4
Good ValueThi is a good value and convenient toareas of interest.Rating:4
I would definitely rebook hereThe place was wonderful. It is near the business of Dupont Circle yet tucked away in a quiet street just outside of the circle. The rooms are small but luxurious. I would definitely book there again.
Travelers tip on local attractionsEasy to get to the subway which can take you anywhere in DC.Rating:2
Not ready for prime timeIf you like the European hotel experience, this hotel will work for you--once they have it ready for prime time--not yet. When we arrived, the whole lobby and front of the hotel was under construction which would have been nice to know when we booked. The rooms seemed to be ready, but the noise and detours around construction were less than would be expected. The only parking available is at the nearby Marriott, so that could be an issue if you have a car, as it was hard to even unload with all the construction trucks taking up any available spots. The staff at the front desk was very nice, but there is limited service. The whole hotel has either heat or A/C, but not both, so even though it was a warm day, there was no A/C to turn on. There are ice machines only on the 3rd and 6th floor and the 6th floor one did not work. When we were ready to check out, the elevator no longer worked, so my daughter and the front desk clerk had to hump our luggage down 6 flights of stairs. The hotel itself reminded me of a small European hotel, including the continental breakfast ($8) and the rooms are the smaller size of European hotels. Everything was very updated, including the small, but modernized bathroom. If you find this charming, you will be fine. If you are used to larger US hotels and there are more than 2 of you, it may be a problem.Rating:2
Pretty but not functionalThe hotel room was very pretty with nice, modern decor but nothing worked. The heat (in January!) was not working well and would have barely heated the room to 60F except that they covered it with a decorative wooden box so it didnt even heat to 60F. The single serve coffee maker didnt work. The lamps on the walls didnt work so there were floor lamps right in front of the nightstand (in a tiny room so it almost hung over the bed.) The LCD TV on the wall didnt get any channels. The large shallow Kohler sink was installed such that water splashed all over the small bathroom when the faucet was on. The sink was so large, there was no space for a counter so no where to put toiletries except on top of the toilet. I complained several times to the management, including immediately after check-in about the heat. I was never offered another room or anything. Finally after my 5th or 6th complaint, I specifically asked if they had a space-heater and they dug one out. The room was so small that the heater was sufficient overnight although there was nowhere to put it so I kept tripping over it. Really not acceptable.Rating:2
Not impressedAn upscale hotel in the middle of a remodel. I woke up to workers pounding and machines running. The rooms are very small so much that it gets easy to trip over furniture and the closets are too small that full length items do not fit. The closet has a safe, however in the room I stayed in, the safe could easily be picked up and carried out of the room. It was also in the closet which prohibited hanging of longer clothing items. The shower and LCD TV were very nice.Rating:3
Warm atmospherePeople were very friendly, hotel was clean and sweet. But in the room there was no soap and no bath towels until I called and asked for them. Nevertheless it is a small but qualified hotel.
