Good price for locationThere was nothing extra special about this hotel. However it was a really good price for a hotel near Newport, mansions were only a 5 min. drive away. They offer a good breakfast selection. Right off the main road, very easy to find. Close to everything!Rating:5
Good Value with Clean Rooms near Newport, RIThese folks take pride in providing clean rooms at a good price. We were happy to be there 5 nights. This could be the best value in lodging near Newport,RI and is only about four miles from Newport Mansions on Bellville Ave. The microwave/fridge allowed us to save leftovers from dinner and keep cold beverages.
Travelers tip on saving a few bucksWhen visiting the Newport Mansions, if parking is full at a mansion, you may find parking at the Preservation Society office on Bellville Ave near the Elms mansion. You can also park for $2 all day at the visitors center in downtown Newport if you show the attendant any bus ticket. You can ride the yellow line public trolley all day for $5 per person.Rating:3
reasonable and cleanThe hotel for the price was a good place to stay. It was close to where we needed to be. The room had a bit of an odor when you first went in, kind of musty, but once the air was turned on it was okRating:3
Mixed ReviewWe were initially placed in Room 119 on the first floor in the inside corner of the "L" of the motel. The room smelled "musty" and the lights overwhelmed the curtains to the point where we had to take the comforter off the bed and tuck in around the window to cut down the light. We got moved to a room on the second floor for the rest of our stay which had much less of a smell and vastly less light infiltration. The staff was quite nice about the move and it had been raining consistently for a few weeks before our stay, but it is a low priced motel so they dont leave the A/C on when the room is not occupied. If you want inexpensive with a good breakfast, this is a good place. If you are a little more sensitive, then you should go for the higher price.Rating:5
Very satisfiedIt wasnt fancy, but very clean and comfortable. The managers were very friendly and helpful. The location was good too, near our destination and convenient to stores and restaurants. I would stay there again.Rating:3
Problem resolvedWe had a problem with ants on the 2nd floor when we checked in....they did send someone up to check it out immediately after our call and they were able to move us to another room pretty quickly. I would give it another try because of their quick and acceptable resolution. (However, they did not go the "extra mile" and comp us anything....not a $10 refund or coupon, nothing to express that regretfulness for what happened...and we had a very upset teenage girl with us who could not handle ants all over a nightstand and the rug...)Rating:4
Pleasantly surprisedFor the price of the room, I was very happy with the hotel overall. Clean room, nice staff, great continental breakfast, and only a 7 minute drive into Newport! This is a great value and inexpensive alternative to doing a B&B in Newport and spending a lot more.
Travelers tip on saving a few bucksUse the continental breakfast!Rating:5
Pleasantly SurprisedPrice was right, location was right (close to everything in Newport), room was clean, staff was helpful and nice. Not a luxury room but comfortable. Had a microwave, coffee maker, and fridge. Bathroom needed work (wood instead of a cabinet under the sink) but shower was excellent - plenty of hot water and water pressure was very good. Pool was small but heated and never crowded, closed early though. Breakfast was good but seating limited. No fuss on the number of towels or pillows requested. No elevator so book first floor if you have trouble carrying luggage upstairs. Much better than most bargain chains. Great stay for the price, but if you want luxury, book luxury. We dont spend a lot of time at the motel so price was more an issue than luxury and we espected a lot less than what we got so we were pleasantly surprised.
Travelers tip on local attractionsCheck out Fort Adams, the mansions, and the dinner train. Brick Alley Pub was an excellent dinner on the weekends but lousy during the week. Art gallery on Thames Street has original oil paintings at extreme bargain prices. Plenty of shopping and restaurants. Parking is tough but try not to park at the Visitors Center - they charge a fortune. Bowens Wharf is a nice walk. especially at sunset. Lighthouse cruise is nice but extremely windy (fast ferry).Rating:5
Look no where else. Best place to stay. The front desk employees, Harry and Rita(husband and wife) were welcoming guests with a warm smile:) The hotel was extremely clean. The rooms were spacious with granite in the bathroom. The bed was nice and comfy. The bathrooms were bigger than most 5star hotels. Really. The employee at the front desk, will do everything to make your trip pleasureful. Dont miss.Rating:4
Very clean and comfotable hotel for the priceIf you are not looking for fancy hotel with luxury then this is the best hotel with clean room and friendly service . I would recommend this hotel to all who is visiting Newport or surrounding area.

Fine Economy MotelRoom was obviously redone recently. Clean, nicely decorated, plenty of hot water. Very good free breakfast, along with the daily paper. Office staff very friendly and helpful. Convenient location just outside of downtown Newport.
Travelers tip on local attractionsGansett sunset cruise is a must, along with the Cliffwalk for spectacular views.Rating:5
Very niceI wasnt expecting much when we went, but we were nicely surprised. The hotel was in good condition, looked nice, was reasonably priced and the staff friendly and helpful. I would like to have seen the complimentary breakfast start an hour earlier, but I have no complaints about the breakfast. Overall, a very pleasant stay.Rating:4
Nicest travelodge Ive stayed inClean, comfortable. Nice shower. Decent continental breakfast.Rating:1
Worst hotel everI was not expecting a 4 star hotel but I was expecting a clean room It was so bad my 17 year old son who we are visiting college with would not sleep in the bed.We will never stay at a travel lodge againRating:3
Satisfactory place to sleepThe hotel was adequately clean-it was located within driving distance to the beaches and Thames Street shops. The breakfast bar was sadly lacking compared to others we have visited inthe past. There was no fruit on either day we were there. There was only a few tables and we were forced to carry food back to our room in the rain. The pool was tiny, but appeared clean. Adequate place to sleep while visisting the area.
Travelers tip on saving a few bucksThis hotel was a bit more inexpensive than many others. If you plan to just sleep here...it is a good choice.Rating:5
Great for family getawayCheck in/out was quick and easy. the staff was very freindly and helpful. the pool was slighly small but plenty of room for the family and it was heated! The rooms were clean and are equipped with a safe for your valuables. Complimentary breakfast was terrific, something for everyone and a nice area to sit and eat. We will definitely be back. You can not find better value for the money!Rating:3
clean room hard bedthe room is small but very clean .There is a stale oder about the room but we bought a candle and had no further problems. The bed is very hard, but if your looking for a good location for a budget price this is your place.
Travelers tip on local attractionsthis hotel is literaly down the street from newport beach.Rating:2
So SoBed was extremely uncomfortable and the room smelled Funny.Rating:2
You get what you pay for...Wanted a cheap place to stay, and it was in an otherwise pricey area. However, room was small dark and mildew-y. I suspect there are more values for the money to be had.Rating:4
Great value for the moneyIt was very clean and spacious. Not fancy but a great place to stay for the money. It includes a breakfast as well.
Travelers tip on local attractionsIts a hop skip and jump away from Newport. The mansions were a sight to see and a cruise through the harbor was fun. Drive along the 10 mile Ocean DriveRating:4
Good for the moneyThis one was a good value for the money. We enjoyed the continental breakfast.Rating:5
Clean And ComfortableThe rooms here are clean, with the standard ammenities you would expect; small fridge, tv, iron and ironing board, table with a couple of chairs. Housekeeping made their rounds on Saturday morning while we were out and did a nice job on the room. I felt safe here with my wife and kids and felt comfortable in the room at night (it was clean). We could make it to downtown Newport in a matter of minutes and had a wide variety of restaraunts to choose from right next to the motel. The price was right compared to some of the other Hotel/Motels in the immediate vicinity. We would definitely stay here again if we returned to the area.
Travelers tip on diningWe prefered to eat breakfast outside of the motel, there are plenty of places to choose from. They do however offer a continental breakfast. They put out waffle batter for you to prepare your own Belgian waffles!
