Wonderful stay yet AGAINThis was my 3rd visit to University Inn this year (2009) and every single time was the same - simply amazing. I would reccommend this hotel to anyone who wants a clean, nice, comfortable room, and friendly staff at a competitive price...Rating:4
Nice small hotelI stayed @ University inn for one night for the UW orientation. The hotel staff upgraded our room to 2 queen beds instead of 1 queen. That was very nice since my daughter and I were both tired. I had my car but it was nice to ride on a shuttle van to and back from Seattle. It was easy to arrange an appointment and the driver was very kind. Free internet access and complimentary breakfast were great options.
Travelers tip on diningLittle Thai restaurant, a few blocks away from the hotel on 42nd street, is so good and very inexpensive! Seattle Art museum is closed on Monday. I went there and it was closed, so I shopped and spent too much money instead...... geeeeeRating:5
Awesome HotelMy husband and I stayed at the Univeristy Inn for a few days before our cruise. The free shuttle was really helpful to get us downtown! We also walked to the campus which was beautiful! We were really happy with our choice. A taxi from the hotel to the cruise port was only $20! We saved tons not renting a car! We would highly recommend this hotel!
Travelers tip on saving a few bucksUse the shuttle and or take a taxi!Rating:5
Convenient and NeatIf you visit UW campus, this is the best choice.Rating:4
Good location, room adequate. Our room was a little small, but generally adequate. As far as the room and the bed, we expected more luxury for the price than we got. Best features of the hotel were (1)the concierge service at the desk--clerks were very helpful about sights to see and how to navigate the city and (2) its location in the midst of the university district. Tip: if you want to use the free shuttle, sign up well in advance as it tends to fill up quickly. Two minuses: our "atomic clock" was set to the wrong time and required the hotel engineer and his time on the internet to re-set it, but eventually it was fixed. Also, we ordered a breakfast-to-go a day in advance, to be sent to our room. It wasnt. We had to call down to the desk and it was sent up, but by then it was time for us to meet our shuttle to the airport. (The shuttle is Shuttle Express @ $19 per person.) The complimentary breakfast & afternoon snacks are nice, but seating is a bit limited. Hotel guests do tend to mingle in the lobby, which exhibits a nice clientele, contributing to the congenial ambiance. Elevator to fourth floor was slow.
Travelers tip on saving a few bucksWe did ride the metro buses from Sea-Tac to our hotel in the university district ($1.75 per person.) Allow plenty of time, though.Rating:5
We are going back to the University Inn!We stayed at the University Inn because it was walking distance from the University of Washington (UW). We thought about renting a car but it wasnt necessary because they have a shuttle service that takes you to the North UW campus, UW Hospital, downtown Seattle, and the Space Needle. The staff was friendly and helpful. They also had a great breakfast bar with yummy waffles. We had a great time in Seattle and would stay at there again!
Travelers tip on diningTry the Tofu Soup restaurant about two blocks away from the University Inn. It has great Korean food and the kim chee is to die for...Rating:5
Definitely recommended! This is a great hotel for all travelers. Complimentary breakfast bar, wireless internet, complimentary shuttle service to downtown attractions and several other locations. Plus, the staff is absolutely helpful and friendly.Rating:5
Good place to stay in SeattleUniversity Inn was a great place to stay, and definitely meets the needs for a basic traveler. They serve breakfast in the morning (with make your own waffles!) and snack in the afternoon (which is actually a great little pick me up). They also have a free shuttle that will take you into downtown, which is necessary since Seattle is not a walkable city by any stretch ofthe imagination. Now that I know how Seattle is laid out, I think Ill try and get a place a little closer to the action next time, but this place met our needs and the staff was very friendly!Rating:5
Will stay there againProvides good breakfast and after snacksRating:5
Best place when visiting UW.excellent service, great location and plenty of parking!!Rating:5
A Winner!A good, well located place to stay in Seattle. The Deluxe rooms are spacious and clean. The staff is very friendly helping to make everyones stay in Seattle comfortable & enjoyable.Rating:5
Great ValueMy business travels take me to Seattle 3 times a year. I stay at University Inn EVERYTIME. It is conviniently located, nice ammenities, great staff, and consistently delivers a wonderful experience.
Travelers tip on saving a few bucksWhen you book a trip online, be sure to see if wireless internet and parking fees apply - especailly in metropolitan areas. I tend to go where the wireless internet and parking are free like at University InnRating:5
Convenient to all University DistrictWe were close to everything in the University District and to the UW too. The staff was great with giving tips and directions and had brochures readily available. Also a shuttle service to downtown Seattle. Had a great cheese and fruit "snack hour" every afternoon - a nice treat after walking around all day!
Travelers tip on local attractionsCheck out University Way, the main street through the district. Very eclectic shops and some great restaurants. Also almost all the places have free WiFi.Rating:5
I would returnWe had a wonderful experience with this hotel. The morning hot complementary breakfast was great. The evening menu was not very interesting however, but adequate. The free shuttle service to local areas was fast and reliable. The location allowed a lot of flexibility for tourist activities, good access to the freeway and seemed to be in a "safe" area. We liked the in room refrigerator and microwave. The coffee pot was not good though. We are tea drinkers and the taste of coffee came through the machine. Overall, though I would stay at the location again.
Travelers tip on getting the most out of your stayTake full advantage of the hotels free shuttle service to local attractions.Rating:5
Good valueGood location, easy to get to Seattle sights & neighborhoods. Cafe that shares the block/parking lot is a bonus - good food, great service.Rating:5
Best of all SeattleGreat hotel if you need to be near the UW or Downtown. They have a shuttle for shopping, some hospital and sightseeing locations.
Travelers tip on diningYour just 4 blocks from the University so lots of cheap eatting places.Rating:5
Convenient Location in SeattleWe really liked it and have already recommended it to a friend. Its only four stories, clean and quiet. I was impressed that there was a sealed alcohol wipe resting on the remote control! Although they dont have a restaurant, coffee and tea are always available in the lobby and they provide a very nice breakfast bar (make fresh waffles, toast, muffins, yogurt, fruit, juices, etc) as well as an afternoon setup (cheese, crackers, fruit and more). There is a Cafe just a few steps to the South. Theres easy access to I-5 as well as a straight shot downtown from the street its on (Roosevelt) which becomes West Lake Drive. The cost was very reasonable! So save your money for all the other things you want to do in Seattle and stay here!
Travelers tip on local attractionsEnjoyed the ferry to Bainbridge Island where we had breakfast at a great local restaurant then drove around the Island; Pike Place Market is a must; Gas Works Park (North end of Lake Union) perfect vantage point for great pictures of downtown; didnt go to the Space Needle this time but if you havent, you should; Lots of terrific small restaurants & coffee shops (our fav - The Sugar Shack Baking Co. on Lake City Way!);Rating:5
Great value and serviceIn Seattle for a week on business, this was the perfect location to get around the city. My room was on the small side but comfy and clean. Young gentlemen at the front desk were always smiling and greeted me when I came home each day. Free laundry and afternoon snacks were nice. I loved sitting at the counter seat in the early AM watching the traffic on Roosevelt during breakfast. One complaint was a somewhat weak wifi. Overall, excellent value for service, location, and comfort. 5-minute walk to the UW campus and the full-bloom cherry blossoms during my stay. I will stay here again for sure.
Travelers tip on diningWalk south toward the UW Medical Center to the Agua Verde Paddle Club and Cafe on Boat Street. Great tacos, salsa bar, iced drinks and atmosphere.Rating:5
Best stay for visit to UW!GreatRating:5
Very comfortableGreat stay. Nice breakfast restaurant next door. Close to U Dub. Highly recommended.Rating:5
Very pleasantly surprisedAlthough The University Inn was listed as a 2.5-star hotel on Expedia, it was much nicer than we expected. We chose it for its convenient location but would happily stay again. The staff was courteous and helpful, the room clean, spacious and pleasantly decorated, and many nice touches were included beyond the "2.5-star" level such as a refrigerator, iron and ironing board, room safe, video gaming system, etc. We did stay in the more expensive "premium" room of which there is limited availability.Rating:5
A best buyReasonable rates, friendly and helpful staff, a generous breakfast buffet in the lobby, free parking.Rating:5
Restful stayI thoroughly enjoyed my stay. The hotel was quiet and comfortable. Definitely a new favorite!Rating:5
Will stay here again for sure...I had a nice experience at the University Inn and would reccomend it. The price was fair, the amenities were great, and the staff was wonderful. Their complimentary breakfast included fresh waffle batter and a waffle iron that was self serve. I was impressed and will return to University Inn again.
Travelers tip on diningTry Northlake Tavern and Pizza House. Thier pizzas are like no other. A small pie weighs over 2.5 pounds and easily feeds two people, a medium pie weighs nearly 4.5 pounds and may feed three, and a large pie weighs over 6 pounds and serves four to six people. All made with lots of pure mozzarella cheese, seasoned with oregano and real Romano cheese. Your choice of pizza sauce. Northlake "Original" recipe or our new "Zesty" sauce.Rating:5
Excellent valueI stayed here while interviewing at the university, and I couldnt have been happier with my hotel experience. The staff was helpful, the room was comfortable and clean, the breakfast was yummy...and the price was great. Highly recommended.
Travelers tip on saving a few bucksUse the Shuttle Express service from the airport instead of a taxi. Shuttle Express has deals with local hotels (including University Inn), so youll save a lot of $$ -- and you can make reservations online!
