Travelers tip on shopping
Great location for shopping, getting some excellent cheesecake, dining, catching one of the monumental cable cars. The hotel staff were very courteous and especially helpful in speedily sending me back my passport which somehow found its way underneath the bed without my being aware.Charming boutique hotel
I had a wonderful 5-night stay at this hotel.
Will definitely return!. On the streetside which was noisy as others have stated but its part of the downtown atmosphere so it was fine. Room was very nice.A gem!
What a wonderful place to stay! Staff were very courteous and professional.
and the room was really clean and comfortable. the staff really went out of thier way for us.Pleasantly surprised
its a small place, but the location is amazing.
If you like to laugh, dont miss it!. It is a brilliant side-splitting evening. And a free business center with computers!

Get tickets and go to see Beach Blanket Babylon. The service is just fabulous. the employees are all helpful and smiling. This was my 6th trip and the best hotel experience by far. Will always stay here when I come back to San Francisco. I loved this hotel. the restaurant was excellent and so was the little bar/cafe. Concierge and front desk were extremely helpful. Even at 3 am when I asked for tissues/toothpaste, they were delivered with a courteous smile.Best place to stay in San Francisco
Wonderful experience The service was better than any 5 star hotel.
. It very much reminded us of a hotel we stayed at in Florence. a reunion of sorts... We toured Italy this past summer and this was the reason I selected the Villa Florence.
I selected this hotel for an overnight stay after shopping all day with my granddaughter...Felt like being in Europe.

Travelers tip
Get a room in the back away from the endless street noise from Powell Ave. Id go back for sure - but price is the main consideration. If you have larger expectations go to a higher end hotel. It photographs well if you get my meaning - but the bed/linens and TV were fine. The queen sized room is compact and the bath very small but all new fixtures which is nice. Very good location as it is central to everything. Kuletos was pricey but thats not surprising in SF. Both were perfect and the food quite good. There are two restaurants - kuletos & Bar Norcini. Since it is right on Powell and the activity is endless - the back room was so quiet you could hear a pin drop. It was the best advice. I did follow the advice of past guests who posted a review advising to get a room in the back to get away from the street noise. The party is over and hotels really need to get a reality check regarding prices if they want to fill up their rooms. The price on Expedia was the reason I chose it otherwise Im not so sure I would have booked it given the pre-new economy prices they were charging.Great find
Terrific hotel.
. It is half the cost of hotel valet parking.
Travelers tip on saving a few bucks
Save some money and park at the garage at corner of Sutter and Stockton Sts. Ask for inside or higher floor rooms. This problem ruined our stay. We were kept awake until 5am by the noise, it was garbage pickup night and the garbage trucks started at 3am until 5am. From a street side room you can hear conversations of passerbys, cars, cable cars etc.Noisy, Noisy, Noisy
The hotel has plenty of character(old, renovated) but the after installed window heating/air units contain no insulation to limit the outside noise.
. Id probably try something else next time but am not really dissatisfied. Pretty lobby, fairly helpful staff, great location. Good rate for Union Square I thought, but room was tight and looked onto and heard ventilation machinery. Not bad
My family of 4 stayed in a double double room.
.Loved it...Great shopping and restaurants nearby...central location...

Great rates. Overall I would recommend this hotel to anyone. The only negative thing I could say about the room is that it was a bit small. All the hotel workers were very nice and helpful. The service was great, not one complaint about it. The hotel and room were very clean. It is half a block from Union Square.Great service, small room
I love the location of this hotel.

. The Segway tour was lots of fun so try that.

If you take one of the tours to Yosemite, beware the driver who asks for the 15% tip when the trip is already $150 per head. I was ticked off, however, when my partner - who had not slept well the night before - was harassed by the maids who came very half hour starting at 8:30 (I had gone to a hearing) until she gave up at 9:30 and got up. Restaurant was very good and we recommend. Otherwise, service downstairs very good.Impatient Maids Nice Restaurant
The clerk was very slow checking us in - changing a double into a single bed proved too much and he had to seek help so we just took the double.
. A very positive impression and nothing to complain about. Friendly staff, clean and cozy room, good location.Loved it
We stayed for a night and loved the place.

Travelers tip on dining
Maxs was right around the corner and had a wonderful atmosphere, a great selection, excellent food and for a reasonable price. Definitely planning on making a return visit next time I go up to the city. The room itself was beautiful and my mom said she never slept so good as there. They recommended a fantastic place to go for lunch that was within our budget and had great food. Even after check out they were kind enough to keep our bags for us while we shopped in Union Square which was less than a block away. Everyone was very friendly and helpful to us.Fantastic Find!
Absolutely fantastic location, beautiful room and excellent staff.
If you dont ask, you wont get!.
Travelers tip on local attractions
Hop On - Hop Off buses leaving from Union Square are a great way of getting around and seeing most of the local attractions - but be careful to check out all of the lines - both for price and places they stop - and negotiate a better price for more than 2 people or 2 days. Reception staff were very friendly and helpful. The basic rooms are very small and tend to be on lower floors, so it is worth paying for an up-grade. We were routinely kept awake by the violin of the beggar on the corner as well as passing drunks shouting. It is a small hotel, fairly recently refurbished, however, bearing in mind the general noise of the city and also from the cable cars passing by, it is hard to understand why double glazing has not been fitted.
Situated just off Union Square this location is extremely convenient for shopping, sightseeing and generally getting around.Convenient, but noisy location.
. Overall we had a wonderful experience at this hotel and wish we could have stayed longer. The hotel also has a fantastic Italian restaurant downstairs that I still crave their capellini and tiramisu. The hotels decor was old meets modern and we just loved it.A beautiful and cozy hotel
Even though the rooms were small, they were very cozy and made you feel more at home.

Great bar with live music a few doors from hotel. Located half a block from Union Square allows you to walk to several great restaurants, the best shopping stores of SF and Chinatown.Great location
Small, nice hotel.
.It is easy to access public transportation. The free wi-fi was horrible if you even managed to get connected the connection was so slow. The staff is very helpful. We were asked 6 times in 20 minutes for money while sitting outside for breakfast. The location is good if you like to be close to the shopping and the homeless. Our room was setup in such a way that made relaxing and watching tv impossible. We were given another room that was ready. Upon arrival we were given a room that someone was still in. I wasnt impressed with anything about Villa Florence.
This hotel was just okat.Just okay.
Cant wait to go back
Wonderful, affordable, just great!.

Macys, Nordstrom,Westfield Mall just around the corner. Unlimited ride and covers pretty much every everywhere. Avoid rental car and get a 3 day for electric cars.Nice Hotel
Very good location, very nice hotel but valet parking cost 45 dollars per night.
